As a frequent traveler, I needed a room for one evening, as I was passing through.
My booking with Natalia, went well. Upon arriving, I was only informed then (and not prior) of a $10.50 Parking fee. I would have appreciated knowing beforehand. When entering my room, I was pleasantly surprized at the space and how beautiful it was. From the lay out and design, colour scheme and decor, it truly is a lovely. When I took off my shoes, I suddenly realized, I was stepping on crumbs and some dirt was scattered. This did not impress me, as the floors should be in fine shape to walk upon. As I settled in, I noticed the stove element on the two burner set up, was not in place and askew to the opening. This is something a cleaner should be attending to and not potential guests, wrangling with it. The entire kitchen was wonderful, with many amenities of cookware, silverware, plus a full fridge and microwave. The separate bedroom was inviting, lots of light and comfortable bed. I liked the added touch, of pebble artwork, over the King bed. Later, I went to plug my laptop in and discovered two of the three covered chairs at the kitchen table, have hanging material that is simply unacceptable. It takes away from the top coverings, which are beautifully done. Making it appear that the job was only half finished. As I filled the bathtub, I noticed the door was missing paint in several areas, there were only 4 sheets of Kleenex in the box and the toilet paper was almost gone on the roll. I looked everywhere for a second roll and never found one. All of this, which again makes its feel, as if things were forgotten about. Overall, the living area, was a fabulous deal for the cost. Upon my departure, I took the time to fill out the comment card and gave it to Natalia, to pass along to the Management. I hope Management speaks to the cleaning staff and maintenance, in order to rectify these key issues.

Stayed one night before catching the BC Ferries connector bus/ferry back to Vancouver. We had a room on the ground floor of the middle block of the hotel. The room had a separate bedroom, full kitchen, good bathroom, and looked on to a small courtyard. Everything was very clean, and quiet except for some noise from upstairs which sounded like furniture being moved but did not continue for long.
The hotel is very convenient to everything, about 300m from the area of the Fairmont with downtown just a little further, in the same block as the BC Museum, close to docks, across the road from Beacon Hill Park, within easy walking distance, with luggage, to catch the BC Ferries bus.
All this and a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

This place has a nice vibe. The room we stayed in was a basic room and I found it very comfortable. The linens were nice modern basic white duvets. Comfy beds, lots of pillows. Everything looked updated and modern. The bathroom had wonderful lighting and everything was clean. My only issues were that I could not find a thermostat anywhere in the room although it was warm enough and there was an air conditioner. Also the walls are pretty thin meaning you can hear other people in other suites. The view was pretty non existent but I wasnt bothered because the location was great. I could walk to beacon hill park and downtown easily. There was a little water fountain/pond in the parking lot which I found charming. Secure underground parking was also available although I think it cost us extra. Overall this is now my go to hotel!! We paid about $130 per night.

This hotel is right across the street from the beautiful Beacon Hill Park and right behind the sensational Royal BC Museum. But given the walkability of Victoria in general, it is relatively close to many great restaurants and pubs, etc. The staff are excellent as your room is scrupulously clean every day. It is nice to have a little kitchenette in the rooms as well. It is also very quiet. My wife didn't like the thickness of the pillows in the bedroom so if you are driving here you might want to consider bringing your own. Another detractor is that the couch is way past its best before date, so to speak. It is saggy which makes it uncomfortable to sit on to watch TV.

We usually use Airbnb, but waited too long on a recent Xmas trip and had to book a hotel. So glad we choose Helms Inn. You can't get more central (it's right behind the Royal BC Museum), with everything in the inner harbor/downtown in easy walking distance. Rooms are spacious, and it's rare to find a modestly priced hotel that also includes a full kitchen. We booked 2 rooms (1 for our grown children) and they placed us right next to each other - super convenient. The only improvement we could think of, was perhaps to have a small shoe/boot mat in each room's entryway? We found that visiting during late Dec, we were coming in with slushy boots and they then dripped all over the floor. A small mat/tray with a lip with solve this nicely.... Cheers!

It is at the edge of the tourist area but still within walking distance to town centre. Price is good.

It consists of 3 apartment buildings of 3 stories each, the top level can only be accessed by stairs.

My unit is a small apartment, with full kitchen along the hallway. The dinning/sitting room has a desk and 3 chairs, sofa and TV. The bedroom has a king size bed. There is no USB outlet. The whole unit is newly renovated except the shower. The ventilation in the bathroom is not good. The windows has not been upgraded so cannot close tightly and hear some traffic noise. Room view is parking lot and senior home.

Your car can stop at the front for registration, parking is $10/day at the back. Number of parking spots is limited.

Stayed here recently, just for one night. Was super impressed with this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again. Our room was large and very clean. Check in was a breeze, staff were efficient and friendly. Secure bike storage was available but we were able to take our bikes into our room.

My wife and I recently traveled to Victoria BC to celebrate my upcoming birthday. I booked us a room here without any expectations. The staff was very friendly and always willing to assist us. We arrived six hours before check-in time, but the staff was kind enough to lock our belongings in their storage room while we get a head start with our sight-seeing adventure. Everything was within walking distance from the hotel. When we did finally checked-in after familiarizing ourselves with the area. We were really surprised how spacious and cozy the room was. The room had a king size bed, an extra hidden bed and a kitchenette equipped with cooking and eating utensils. The room setting made us feel at home. The nightly room rates was also reasonable and affordable. They even had hot coffee and tea available at the lobby area throughout the day. On the day of checking out; our ferry was not scheduled to leave until late that afternoon. Once again, the staff was willing to lock our belongings while we spend our last few hours with last minute shopping. We highly recommend this hotel on your next visit to Victoria. We are already planning our next visit. This is our home away from home. This is one hidden place I wouldn't mind sharing with other travelers. Enjoy!

What’s not to love at The Helm’s Inn? It has everything that one would want for a relaxing holiday. Perhaps I’m biased , but when one finds a hotel like this it’s difficult to stay anywhere else! The rooms are like self-contained apartments! There’s no need to dine out when a fully stocked kitchen enables one to cook for themselves! While groceries are going up in price it’s still cheaper than restaurants!
I love having gigantic flat screen tvs in both the living room & bedroom!
Even though there is a $10 a day parking fee, the hotel is so central that a person can walk everywhere to all the must see sites !
The pathways are very well lit & some of the rooms can be accessed without stairs such as room 202 in the Parkside bldg.
The bed & pillows were amazing, too! Chris ,at the front desk, was terrific as well. The lobby is warm & inviting.
The only criticisms I have about this particular stay are that we had a “talkative” fridge, a finicky lock on the sliding door to the balcony, & heavy footed neighbours upstairs!
In spite of the aforementioned annoyances , I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My two nights in a suite with king bed were very comfortable. Helm's Inn is in a perfect location directly behind the Provincial Museum and only ten minutes' walk to centre of town. I will definitely stay there again.

Hello! There is indeed on site parking for $5.25 CAD per night. Thanks! Chris @ the Helm's Inn
Answer from Chris P

Hello! The amenities provided to monthly guests really depends on the source of the reservation. For example if you've booked your room via a 3rd party site such as Expedia then you would be paying a nightly rate and therefore get the regular daily housekeeping service with replaced towels, coffee supplies and toiletries everyday. The staff would tidy the room, make the bed and do the dishes. However if you booked directly through the hotel at the discounted monthly rate than you would receive minimal housekeeping, with just your towels and garbage changed everyday. In either case a bed linen change would occur every 4 days. There is a coin operated laundry on site with one washing machine and one dryer. Change can be made at the front desk and single use boxes of detergent are available for a small charge. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact the hotel directly at 1-800-665-4356. Thanks! Chris Prescott Front Desk Manager

We had rooms on the second level of the Helm's Inn. We had travelled from Vancouver, by bus, which we took from Vancouver to Victoria. The bus terminal was a five minute walk from the Helm's Inn. If you take the ferry on your own you can arrange transportation on the ferry, however, availability may become an issue. Hope this is helpful.
