Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed here for a conference. and my kids came along. The service from everyone at guest reception was kind and efficient. We stayed on a floor that was undergoing renovations, but this didn’t really affect our stay. We would have liked our room to be made (as we stayed two nights) but - not a big deal.
The pool was great, and the continental breakfast options, though few, came in handy. I’d stay here again.

We were only here for a quick overnight. We got a king suite. Key cards to access our floor. I like that security. Door opened to a living room with tv, couch. Dinette table and two chairs. The kitchenette had a small fridge. Microwave. Coffee pot and cooktop. The bedroom had a tv. Plenty of usb plugs by the bed. The bathroom was nice. The large shower stall had a handheld and rainfall combination. Easily a top 10 shower set up for this price range.

The staff were very friendly. We only wish we had longer to stat and enjoy the pool and other amenities.

Clean room, but because of Covid housekeeping staff do not come into your room to tidy, remove garbage, or replenish towels and other amenities. We paid $315 (closer to $400 after taxes) for one night, but the room was comfortable and a short drive from downtown. Desk staff were courteous and helpful.

I regularly stay at this hotel for business, Amy and her Team do a great job. Rooms are always spotless, and most have undergone extensive renovations. Good location, secure underground parking, and a good size conference facility. Pleased to see Covid 19 protocols in place and being adhered to. Would recommend to anyone traveling to Victoria

I've been coming to this location for 4 years staying at the very least 3-4 days a month. Often recognized upon entry the staff will greet me by name and always with a smile. Staff are always kind, courteous and very helpful if I need copies made or a wake up call.

The room was dated, furnishings scruffed, carpet soiled. The whole room was dilapidated.
There was a new mirror in the bathroom that had the new light bulb “painters taped” to it. There was construction materials just left in the hallway. We got in late and found out the restaurant was closed, permanently.
I slept fully clothed because it felt so dirty in the room.
We got up the next morning and stopped to get some breakfast before leaving. When I went in, I saw a mouse come out of the bowl of pastries and run down the table with a huge tail. I almost passed out.
We went and told the front desk and it didn’t seem to faze them.
This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Do not be deceived by the exterior that looks nice.

Excellent staff who go the extra mile to satisfy the traveller. TV did not work, previous guest messed with it, maintenance person was there in under 5 minutes. Desk person asked twice if it was okay for maintenance person to enter room in order to make sure we were comfortable during this time of Covid.

We stayed one night in this hotel. We were looking for a basic, clean hotel with a decent location. Unfortunately, the area around the hotel didn’t feel safe. I was not aware of this prior to booking as I am not from Victoria. We were extremely disappointed upon arrival to be given a very tired room. All of the furniture was chipped and worn. There were blonde hairs on our duvet as well as yellow stains on our sheets and our shower curtain. We honestly considered leaving and finding a different hotel. Our sheets were changed when requested without even an apology from the front desk staff about the state of our room. I appreciated the linen change but I feel like more should have been done at that point. We would not return or recommend this hotel to anyone. I suggest paying more for a better room somewhere else.

A very basic hotel, our room needed a thorough clean as it was dusty and grubby. We were also not alerted to the fact that room cleaning was on request only so came back to an untouched room after a long day out. Provisions are low, two plastic glasses and two paper cups but no spoons etc. Bathroom was good. No breakfast available and nowhere within easy walking distance. The hotel is at least a 30 minute walk from the harbour down a mainly industrial and car showroom road, not a pleasant introduction to Victoria.

Staff are very pleasant. Shark club food was dry, suggest eating elsewhere. I think their ISP is using a dial up modem for WiFi.

Had AC see to lowest temperature still had to sleep on top of the bedding.

Hello Deepraj, Unfortunately we have no rooms close to the pool as it is below the lobby level, and unfortunately none of the guest room windows open in our building. I have placed you in a room right across from the elevator so you do not have to walk far down any halls along with putting you in a room that is non pet friendly. All our pillows in the building are hypoallergenic so nothing with feathers. Please feel free to call us directly at the hotel should you wish to discuss your stay further at 250-388-0788. Thank you, Corey

is this hotel wheelchair accessible
Answer from Amy Leonard
Victoria, Canada1 helpful vote
Hello Elizabeth, Yes our hotel is wheelchair accessible; we have a few rooms that are specifically designed this way with wider doors and lower counters. The bathrooms in these rooms have ample space for wheel chairs but the shower is not a roll in it is a tub with grab bars and a chair. Please call the hotel directly to book these rooms at 250-388-0788 and we will be happy to assist or answer any further questions. Thank you, Corey

What is in a studio kitchenette ?
Answer from Amy Leonard
Victoria, Canada1 helpful vote
Thanks for your interest in Sandman Victoria. A studio kitchenette is a room with either one king size bed or two double beds. Each suite comes with a seperate sitting room with a flat screen tv, sofa bed and dinette. All of the kitchenette suites come with a full kitchenette that has everything but an oven. It has a two top burner, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and all the utencils, pots and pans, glassware and dishware you will need. These suites are very popular for most of our guests.
