The Vic Ascend is located in the area of the Gorge Waterway and Galloping Goose waterfront paved pathway, great for cycling, walking and running. You'll find kayak and rowing rentals close by as well. Some rooms at the back of the hotel offer pretty city and inner harbour views at a distance, especially at night or early morning. Although the Gorge Road itself has car and bus traffic, most rooms are set back from the roadway and are pleasantly quiet. Our room was on the main floor, north facing with a view of a small park very handy and safe for walking our dog. Downtown and shopping malls are both a short drive away. The rooms are of average size, however they have just been beautifully renovated with new flooring, quality furnishings, super comfortable beds and spa-like bathrooms. The rooms are well equipped with new microwave and a small fridge with freezer that works great. The lobby is bright and modern and there is a nice common room with a huge multi screen tv, plus a games area. There is also a cafe next to the lobby that serves wonderful quick meals and delicious desserts. I especially recommend the fresh cinnamon buns.
Finally, we would like to thank the welcoming, caring and helpful staff of the hotel. Every staff member we met was super helpful and friendly. We ended up staying for a month, enjoyed the staff and greatly appreciated the excellent house keeping team here.
If you are looking for clean, new and welcoming, at a good rate, we recommend The Vic Ascend Hotel.

The Vic on Gorge Road E is my go to when in Victoria. Open, bright and well laid out rooms, very hospitable and attentive staff make for a very relaxing and inviting experience. And on top of this, you have the world famous Heckler's Live Comedy establishment at the same location. Best comedy and wings in town, in my opinion. Day trip or vacation, you cannot go wrong choosing the VIC.

This hotel looks much better online than in person. A 3 dressed up to look like a 7.

Pros

Low priced for Victoria
Friendly staff
Nice Shower
Convenient cafe on site

Cons

A little run down
Guests are permitted to run wild
Very noisy at night (hallways and parking lot party going on)
A/C didn’t work very well
Uncomfortable and cheap feeling bed
Pool was not operational
Tight parking spots
Not conveniently located to the heart of Victoria and the good amenities that Victoria has to offer.

I’d be happy to rate it a 3 out of 5 if the building was fixed up a little more with comfier rooms and security cracking down on late night noise.

Adil Jaria the manager has the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. He should not be in the hospitality industry, he is a power tripping and insulting. I am disgusted with this motel. I originally purchased a room for two nights, I then talked to a very nice man later that evening who extended my stay and price matched for 7 days. It wasn’t until this morning when I went downstairs to extend my room keys, that adil the supposed manager decided that he was kicking me out and issued a full refund because he was not happy with the price but made an excuse that while talking to my mother on the phone IN SWEDISH insulted him. Egotistical maniac, if I was the owner I’d be disgraced to have an employee as rude as him.

A great little hotel, recently completely renovated. Rooms are clean and well-appointed, with the rain-head shower being a great feature. Located just outside the busyness of downtown Victoria you can enjoy the peace and quiet while still being within walking distance of downtown should you wish. Adjoining, there is a new Floyd's Diner for breakfast and lunch and Heckler's Bar and Grill for good pub food and the best comedy in western Canada on Saturday nights.

I stayed at this hotel recently again and it is the best hotel in Victoria as far as I'm concerned. It is a very reasonably priced hotel and in a good location. The rooms are clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. We loved the shower with the rainfall shower lots of hot water. The games room off the lobby is great with a huge TV, ping pong table, fuze ball and free popcorn. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Always greet guests with a smile. The Office Manager, Adil Jaria, is wonderful. All the staff are a credit to the hotel. We will be returning during the summer when we can enjoy the lovely clean pool. Thanks to all.

Recent stay at the Vic, Ascend Hotel on Gorge Rd was very relaxing. The hotel staff are very helpful going out of there way to ensure your stay is comfortable. Rooms have been recently updated and are clean and comfortable. The hotel is located along scenic Gorge road close to the Galloping Goose trail and about a 20 minute walk to the center of Victoria. They have all the usual hotel amenities as well as cool games rooms with a wall sized TV for all to enjoy. Co-located is Floyd's diner which was great for breakfast/lunch and also Hecklers Bar and Grill which has a great pub food and a good selection of beers on tap.

Following an exhaustive renovation, the Vic is now a chic little hideaway. The rooms are clean and brightly decorated, amenities are plentiful and the location is superb. Also noteworthy is the adjoining and independently owned Hecker’s bar/comedy club with good value meals, drinks, and entertainment. Recommended.

The hotel itself is average but they did a terrible job cleaning. In the week we stayed the bathroom and floors did not get cleaned once, even after I asked the front desk specifically. They only really made the bed and gave us new towels. They also do not have any covers for the stained duvets they provide. I asked about this as well. Overall very unclean and gross, would not stay again.
