Really appreciated the kitchenette with the microwave, fridge, 2 burners, kettle, toaster, soap detergent, dish rack, utensils, cookware, plates, bowls. Good price for 2 beds, drawers, flatscreen TV, bathroom. To make any future stays even better, I would suggest putting a grab bar at an angle above the bathtub for people taking showers to grab onto...turning the mattresses on the beds every so often (half my mattress was soft and lumpy while the other half was firm)...have thicker iron covers or at least triple them up as the capris I was ironing imprinted the holes in the metal ironing board!!...offer paper towels (can be the cheap brown ones you can rip off in a box) in the kitchenette.

This review is for the lounge at the red lion. It’s a fun live music venue. Friendly server. It’s a dive bar for sure but comfortable and clean.
DO NOT EAT HERE.
My burger and fries were the worst I have ever seen. Sent it back. Simple neglect can’t make a burger this bad. This food was aggressively bad like as if the cook made it their mission to make the worst food imaginable.

This Hotel is very close walking Distance to Uptown Mall and fast food restaurants 5min walk (saanich rd) or just past the shell station across Douglas st. Dennys 1blk away.
Trek Bicycle Rentals is a 35min walk South on the bike GG path and I highly recommend it (ask for Troy) rates a lot cheaper than downtown. Good bikes.
The Pool really needs a reno (fresh paint etc) , it may be clean but by the look of it I didn't even try it. The water looked slightly green with possible algae. The front desk staff were excellent and helpful to us and its a clean hotel just older .

A ‘Gem’ conveniently located in Victoria, British Columbia!! Red Lion Inn you were effortless in all aspects of our recent stay at your small Hotel. The check-in process was swift. The lift at the Hotel was quick and we never waited for any extended amount of time to get to and from our room to the Lobby. There was no cleaning while we occupied the room at the time of stay due to Covid-19 rules, however, as guests, whatever we needed to tidy up and stuff, the Hotel made sure it was available for us to use. Whenever we ran low on towels and such no matter the time of day, they were there with freshly, cleaned towels and items in a matter of minutes to the room. WOW!! The sleep quality of all the beds in the room were superb!!

Amenities abound here as well!! Really, really clean laundry facility, an Asian Restaurant in the lower level of the Hotel and an adjoining Liquor Store, which meant we never went thirsty or hungry for our 5 days of stay. 😊 We brought our own LapTops so there was no need to use the Business Centre. How was the WiFi? It was quite good!! I do know during the period we stayed, they were ‘sold out’ of rooms, so we expected internet lag while surfing, however, that was not the case. The WiFi was great!!

I’ve stayed in many Hotel rooms all over the place. I’m not saying that everything was 100% here because I don’t think a person can expect that to be the case wherever you stay. The simple thing is this, Red Lion Inn, you’ve surpassed my expectations. I wholeheartedly give you a 10 because you deserve a 10. Thank you for making our stay an amazing one and we will be sure to return in the near future.

There’s nothing particularly problematic about this property, but it is a bit pricey for what you get, and that’s certainly par for the course in this city. We used to have to stay here a lot for work. It’s not the most convenient location for tourists, as they would need to drive or take buses (which nonetheless are frequent and depart from the busy highway out front) into the centre of town. However, it is convenient if you’re into strip malls, suburban big box retail, fast food, shopping malls, and sketchy neighbourhood characters. Another negative that can adversely affect your experience is that there used to be a rather mean and rude clerk who runs the front desk here at night. He might be the owner for all we know, but if you can manage to avoid him, things can work out for you for the most part, as this lodging delivers on most of the basics: cleanliness, adequate room temperature control, noise levels under control (no small feat considering the context and the always hoppin’ liquor store downstairs), comfortable bed, good water pressure and water temperature controls in the bathroom, decent lighting schemes, enough electrical outlets to charge your piles of modern junk, workable wi-fi, competent housekeeping, and adequate toilet pressure.

The rooms have been nicely renovated with quartz countertops, new appliances and surprisingly all you need for cooking and eating in the room. New appliances (fridge and induction stove top). They even supply dish washing liquid! The front desk staff were efficient and friendly. BUT I will not stay here again. There is a liquor store attached to the hotel and the parking lot was the scene of some pretty heated exchanges between some intoxicated customers. The same night as the parking lot was a foul mouthed battle zone, in the stair well of the hotel there was a sprawled out drunk on the stairs that the poor front desk guy had to deal with. I just don’t need this on my vacation and expect better in Victoria. Despite being a no smoking building, while going to my room on check-in the smell of marijuana permeated the hallway. Cigarette smoke could be smelled on several other occasions in the hallway. As a result of all this, I can not at all recommend this place, especially not for families! Too bad, because the owners are obviously trying to fix up the place and the room itself was clean and present. I was unaware that there used to be a strip joint in the building, but this has closed.

I stayed 1 night at this place. The room had a litle kitchen and was nice and clean. There's a few restaurants and a mall nearby this place. It is located near the city centre of Victoria which is about a 5-10 min drive. Overall it's a nice place to stay

What an absolute dump of a hotel. The rooms are dirty with filthy furniture (see the photo!), stinks of marijuana, no screens on the walls and can hear everything from every room around you as the walls are paper thin and the floors are no better. I have no idea how this rates as it does on all the travel review sites. Our stay is 10 hours long and we can't wait to get out of here. Baseboards haven't been cleaned in months (if ever), the door to the bathroom and closet have never been painted walls are visibly dirty and furniture hasn't been cleared under. Dead bugs in the windowsills. And all around gross place.

Dirtiest place I've ever stayed at. See attached photos. I would not recommend staying there. See if you can find another place close by, as the location was really good.

Easy walk to an outdoor mall for provisions, close to a car rental place, and the Galloping Goose hiking/biking trail is right behind the hotel, which takes you directly downtown.
