This is a lovely Victorian home with a lot of ambience. It has the old charm and the stained glass, leaded windows and woodwork are definitely a must see. It is strategically located, being a ten minute walk from the harbour, Parliament Buildings and the Royal B.C. Museum as well as close to downtown, Unfortunately it also has a bit... More

We stayed there "By mistake" due to hubby's inexperience with booking.com, but serious familiarity with Victoria, Canada. Glorious mistake! We had a ground floor king suite of antiques and fully functional tv and wifi; one's writing table area, you know, as one expects, doesn't one; gorgeous stained glass; lovely bedding and towels - even a rubber ducky (froggy) for the... Physically, this is a lovely old home with lots of charm and nice touches...seemingly the perfect sort of B&B to stay at. It's in a great location, close to the central area of Victoria, but just far enough away so it's very quiet. It was very clean and tidy. The caretaker/manager, however, while very nice and polite, really keeps to... More

Lovely old home with plenty of oak flooring, walls, built in cabinets, and stunning stained glass windows on the lower level. Our host, Douglas, provided a delicious breakfast. The rooms upstairs are a bit dated, but were clean and quiet with good beds, so overall, an excellent choice. Very short walk to the main harbour.

I stayed for 2 nights in the "secret garden" room and had a great experience. The house is beautiful, and the room is charming and spacious, with a great view. Douglas was a great host, discreet and helpful. The breakfast was delicious, and the water bottles and chocolate bar in the room were a nice touch, after a long flight!... More

Had a serious asthma attack after staying in the room for 20min. Guessing it was triggered by mold. The house is old and smelled musty. Had to leave quickly and find other accommodations late at night. We are hoping for a refund. Not posting this out of spite as the caretaker was very nice but to warn people with respiratory... The pictures look very nice from website that's why I booked the place. But I would like to suggest the manager letting more fresh air in the house. Inside Smells more like a museum than a living place.

We stayed 3 nights after a long 14 hour flight from Australia and a Pacific Coach ride from Vancouver International to downtown Victoria. Our welcoming host was Douglas who checked us into the "Victoriana" room (pre-chosen on the internet) and which truly met our expectations. The room was ground floor, comfortable antique furnishings and bed, spacious bathroom with claw-foot bath... More

The B&B is beautiful and amazingly quiet for being in a large city. We especially liked that we could park our car and easily walk to the Inner Harbor and to numerous restaurants for dinner. Our host, Douglas, provided tasty breakfasts and kindly shared his recipes. Our room was comfortable and nicely decorated. We would definitely stay at the Haterleigh... More

Beautiful building, well maintained, clean and presentable, but entirely lacking in personal touch, welcoming host, local knowledge, or conversation. If you just want food and a bed and to avoid a hotel this is fine - but if you want conversation, local tips, hospitality or charm, forget it.
