We had the most magical stay at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel a couple of weeks ago! This was our first visit to the property and everything was first rate.

Starting with the safety protocols put in place during the current COVID-19 pandemic, we felt very safe during our entire visit. All high touch surfaces in public spaces were constantly being cleaned, staff wore masks, lots of hand sanitizer everywhere, room was impeccably clean and the personal amenities sanitized and bagged separately.

Our guest room was very well appointed with the most spectacular view overlooking the ocean, mineral pools and beautiful grounds. There was no service to the room for obvious reasons and we were perfectly fine with this. We simply needed to text the Reception Desk for anything we needed.

We had a most enjoyable dinner at Faro, the newest food and beverage addition to the property, the pizza and wine al fresco were delish! And brunch on the gorgeous outdoor patio at the Snug was superb.

Topping it all off, was the exceptional service by the amazing hospitality professionals who so obviously love what they do and the property they represent. The General Manager, Madone Pelan and her team leave no stone unturned when it comes to ensuring the very best stay for their guests. While we have always enjoyed staying in the harbour area when we visit Victoria, we sincerely cannot wait to return to this little slice of heaven on earth in beautiful Oak Bay.

Staying at Oak Bay Beach Hotel is something I always look forward to! Their customer service is usually above and beyond and this was only further highlighted with COVID-19. Their protocols were all clear and diligently followed making us feel very safe. Their new restaurant, Faro, has such an amazing selection of different pizzas, all at great prices and the indoor patio area is beautiful and has such a welcoming ambience. The mineral pools are another huge aspect that adds to the experience of staying here and makes every getaway feel like a retreat. The rooms are always so comfortable and the attention to detail is much appreciated. Overall, highly recommended!

We went there with another couple that has been there. The place is very clean and located in a beautiful location. The outdoor pools were wonderful to soak in. Staff are very friendly. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The main restaurant also served superb food. The only recommendation for the waiter, who was very nice, is not keep talking while holding our food in front of him. I am sure his saliva was spraying all over our food.
Beautiful neighbourhood to walk around as well. The locals were very friendly.
Everything was great except for two little things. Our room did not have some of the things our friend's room had. Things like hand lotion and soap dispensers in the bathroom and night lights. No big deal.
Our friend asked one of the rooom attendant ladies for another hand sanitizer spray bottles and was told she has to pay. Really? We paid almost $500 a night and you won't give our friend a small spray bottle maybe worth a few dollars only. The attitude was not good.
Other than that, we enjoyed the stay.

My husband and I booked the Oak Bay beach hotel to celebrate our anniversary with a local getaway. Amongst the craziness of the pandemic, we were looking for a mini night away to refresh and recharge from our daily lives with two young kids. Our stay at Oak Bay Beach Hotel was perfect. We fully enjoyed the beautiful ocean view, mineral pools, and poolside bar! I was impressed with the Covid safety plan. Pool chairs are disinfected after each use, sanitizer in the rooms, and guests/staff are wearing masks and adhering to social distancing. A special shout to our excellent server, Michael, at Faro. The pizza was amazing.

For most people, Victoria is all about the inner harbor. But if you say you live in Oak Bay to any Victorians, they would know you come from the nice part of town. And the hotel most associated with this part of town is the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. Although rebuilt in 2016, it still has that air of old money elegance with updated fixtures. Staff are unfailingly professional and West Coast friendly. A friend of ours arrived early for a meetup and was offered a free parking pass in the underground parking.

We had a wonderful 1 bed room suite with 2 large TVs and 2 fireplaces. Kitchen equipment was complete with dishwasher, french press coffee, tea kettle, dishes and cutlery. Fluffy robes were provided with slippers for the walk outside to the mineral pools. There was a rain head shower and a full soaker tub with bath salts. Toiletries were by Culti Milano who are most famous for their room diffusers.

The star of the hotel is definitely the mineral pools. This hotel takes Covid 19 seriously. Only 1 family/couple group per hot tub and 12 in the main pool kept things nicely spaced out. The beach itself is really just a small area of sand right in front of the hotel. There is a larger beach area just outside the hotel grounds. Other Covid measures included masks at all times inside the hotel common areas, only 1 party in the elevator and drop off services for housekeeping during your stay. The causalities of Covid is the closure of the dining room and I presume the relocation of the gym to a standard guest room which looked pretty sad.

From the hotel you can bike through wonderful Oak Bay's beautiful hotels to the inner harbour in about 25mins without stopping. But you could also stop at the wonderful Abkhazi Gardens, BC's Government house or Craigdarroch Castle. It's also a 20 min walk to the delightful Oak Bay village.

The Oak Bay Beach Hotel is fortunate to be nestled in beautiful Oak Bay, a quiet and charming community just a short drive from the downtown inner harbour. We are pleased to offer a diverse selection of luxurious and well-appointed guest rooms and keep our heated seaside mineral pools open year-round for our valued guests. I have recently been fortunate to enjoy the beautiful mineral pools at the Boathouse Spa. Our party had a welcoming reception to the spa and an informative tour of the facility by Tina. The spa was meticulous and the patrons that we encountered were respectful of social distancing in the indoor space. The pools were absolutely decadent-the contrast of the cool fall air with the warm water was heavenly. The bartender was attentive and helpful for choosing seating on the pool deck (mindful of social distancing),as well as ensuring that all patrons had some time in the jacuzzi pool. In this uncertain time of so much stress and uncertainty, we felt so thankful to have this as a treat, a local "getaway". We will definitely come back.

We stayed at this hotel for a weekend in late August 2021. We chose Oak Bay because we wanted to stay a little further outside downtown Victoria, and the high ratings and reviews, plus waterfront location, convinced us that the incredibly high nightly rate (averaging $850 CAD after taxes and fees) for a “best view” boutique suite was perhaps justified.

In hindsight, we feel ripped off. The “suite” was cramped, worn, and dated - maybe worth $350 CAD at a maximum (and that’s mainly due to the view). There was an ice machine right outside our room that was rumbling so loudly it could be heard from the elevator all the way down the hall (but surprisingly, and thankfully, not from inside our room).

Everything else at the hotel receives high marks - the pools and view were lovely, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the food at Snug Pub and Faro were very good — but we simply cannot fathom how the hotel can justify charging Four Seasons rates for what is essentially a Courtyard Marriott quality room.

We would return, but never again during the peak season, when prices are triple what the accommodations actually warrant.

Dear KN82, Thank you for choosing the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. It was our absolute pleasure to welcome you and be of service. We pride ourselves in delivering outstanding service in elegant surroundings, and as such, we are saddened to learn that we were unable to provide you with an overall exceptional room experience. Our hand-selected Ocean View Boutique Suites feature “Our Best” ocean views, including unobstructed views of the Salish Sea and snow-capped Mt. Baker to the east. For your comfort, all of these spacious and quiet suites include a private ocean-facing balcony, luxurious king-sized bed, spa-inspired washrooms, kitchenette with stovetop and dishwasher, as well as a small dining table to ensure you feel at home during your stay. I am dismayed that we were unable to make an impression with our suite offerings. I am pleased to inform you that we will be refreshing all guest room furniture in the coming 12-months with 100% Canadian-made goods. It is our hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future and have you experience these room upgrades. Despite the room shortcomings, we are pleased to know you were able to take some pleasant memories of your stay at our Inn-by-the-Sea that was just recently ranked #1 hotel in Canada. When your travels bring you back to our beautiful city, please feel free to contact me directly for all your reservation needs. Just returned from a three week trip, Victoria to Calgary. Stayed at all highly rated/high end hotels along the way giving us the chance to experience many types of hotels/resorts.
Spent 3 nights at Oak Bay which was clearly designed for those who want to get away and rest and relax by the pool/ocean. On this level it was 5 stars including great service from the pool area staff who were attentive and offered great information about the pool services.
The room was nice although aside from the view ( ocean front) it did not offer anything special and on several aspects it did not match other places we stayed. The bathroom while pretty had little to no counter space to place toiletries etc. The room itself offered no where to unpack clothing as their was almost no drawer space other than bedside table drawers. As we were there for three nights and had clothes for our entire trip this was inconvenient and meant we had to live out of our suitcases. On this note regrettably this also is where the service did not meet our expectations of the level advertised. The room had no luggage racks
( standard in every other hotel) so our suitcases remained on the floor the first night in hopes housekeeping might notice and provided some. Unfortunately they did not, however on day two upon request 2 were provided. Additionally the room had no waste baskets, after the clean up on day 2 one appeared in the bathroom but it was odd not to have one in the main room. Regarding service I also should note that this was the only hotel in our travels that the person checking us in did not take time to point out where things were located, how to access the wifi, the need to swipe our room key in the elevator etc. We were able to figure it all out but this lack of information did detract from the welcome and was obvious when compared to other hotels in on this trip. Had this been a budget friendly hotel the lack of service, lack of luggage racks, lack of waste baskets, limited place to store items would have been acceptable. At this price point however it was a disappointment and not at the level of some other comparable hotels. I would certainly recommend it for the pool experience but suggest that if you have experienced other 5 start type resorts you might want to lower your expectations regarding the level of service you might receive here.

Dear Karin M, Thank you for sharing your review with us and the TripAdvisor community. Though I am glad you found our Mineral Pool services to be “great”, “attentive”, and the room experience “nice”, I was disheartened to learn that some aspects of your stay did not leave you with the same impressions. Our team works very hard to host our valued guests in an environment that is not only luxurious and unique, but most importantly, provide intentional hospitality at every opportunity. Please accept our apologies for the shortcomings expressed in your review. It is my pleasure to share with you that brand new luggage racks arrived early August amid multiple delays due to logistical problems. In addition to the bathroom waste basket, under the kitchenette sink in the main room, you will be able to find a large waste and recycling basket. Although your visit with us may not have met your expectations, I sincerely hope you were able to take away some pleasant memories of your stay. Should your travels bring you back to beautiful Victoria, feel free to contact me directly for all your reservation needs. I just got back from this stunning hotel where we just recharged using their spa and incredible salt mineral pools. We dealt with Karina in reservations at the hotel as well as Joy. Their attention to detail was incredible always making sure we were well looked after. They were both such caring people that really made our trip so memorable. I could not help but to write a review about the resort and about them. Sean at the pool was also awesome making sure we were always looked after. We will see you again !

We are still beaming with baby moon bliss after our stay at the stunning Oak Bay Beach hotel. Upon check in, concierge Dillon made us feel very special and right at home. To follow, we were blown away by our spacious garden view ocean suite which includes a patio table to dine and overlooks the garden terrace and ocean views. We were just steps away from the mineral pools and that was so wonderful to be able to quickly walk out to!
There is nothing more relaxing than being surrounded by the ocean and floating in these pools! The poolside food and cocktail service is just an added bonus to this that very few hotels in Victoria would offer. It truly is like being on vacation! We very much appreciated the attention to detail with respect to social distancing safety precautions at the hotel. They did not go unnoticed. The beds are so comfortable, the proximity to downtown Victoria is unbeatable, AND their new Faro pizza is unquestionably some of the best in town.
Thank you to Karina in reservations, Anneke in marketing, Tikvah at the Boathouse Spa, and Nolan at Faro Pizza for your exceptional and personable customer service. The Oak Bay Beach Hotel is definitely our home away from home and we cannot wait to return!

If you book direct through the hotel (by e-mail, phone or through the hotel's website) then underground, secured parking is free. If you book through a third party website, such as Booking. com or HotelBeds, parking will be an additional fee.
