This is the best watering hole for a real good low brow great night. Drinks are cheap as well as over half the people there. I fit in great!!! Staff were fun and full of attitude if needed. Was there years and years ago have to say that i love that the kept the piss trough in the renow!!!

I started to dislike the hostel when I first got there, the staff, or at least the girl that was on there wasn't friendly when I said I didn't know how to open the doors. I know I couldn't ask very much of a hostel, but the room was pretty dirty, also, the place is always full of people screaming/partying...

The location is perfect, as Gastown has tons of amazing bars, restaurants etc. super close by. Compared to many of the other hostels in Vancouver, such as the ones on Granville, the Cambie is by far the best bang for your buck. Both the dorm my friends and I stayed in, and my other friend's private room, were clean and...

So after reading many mixed reviews on this hostel I had prepared myself for the worst but really hoped for the best and I was surprised, also got a free muffin for breakfast and coffee or a tea voucher for the bakery next door, win win! The room I stayed in a 2 bed room and was on the second...

Great location, easy to get to from train station and airport and walking distance to pretty much anything you need. Room was decent and beds were nice and big - king single at least. Bar/restaurant downstairs was cool to have there, but truthfully not all that much fun when I went. The included breakfast was actually just a muffin and...

Was there for one night only thankfully. The wooden floors on my level we're wet and dirty. Didn't get much rest coz they had loud music going and people were shouting all night. My room was okay, very cold though. Staff is fine.

This place is amazingly located, gastown the coolest area in vancouver, the hostel has a pub downstairs... Party vibe! Thin walls .. When someone slams a door you d hear from another room! Old building, wood noisy floor.... But 2 stars for bed bugs in some rooms, and is not accettable after many complains those still in some rooms!

I have stayed in numerous hostels in Vancouver as a solo traveller and would say that the Cambie gastown was by far the best. It is a hostel so I wasn't expecting much more than a bed to crash on, and that's all I really got, a sweaty room with strangers. However I'd recommend this place just because of the...

4 of us came here on a tight budgeted business trip. The bar was so loud we couldn't sleep, in addition to the sweltering hot rooms. The beds were super cheap and the bathrooms were full of cockroaches! To top off a mostly terrible stay, the wi-fi was unusable.

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
