Samesun is a well run establishment that prioritizes the guest experience. The staff are friendly and helpful whenever needed. There are free (or nearly free) activities for guests which are excellent. The hostel is very warm, but every bunk is equipped with its own fan, outlet, and shelf!

Best hostel ever stayed in! Breakfast was great staff were friendly, people were all nice! Location amazing and Vancouver itself is lovely! Would definitely go back considering how cheap it is compared to other hostels

We thought the hostel was excellent. The staff cleans the bathrooms twice per day and the kitchen is always very clean. Everyone is really helpful. The room was spare, but nice. No AC, but they had a number of fans to cool you off. It was quite warm in the August afternoons. Breakfast was very good: hot fresh bagels, toast,...

I stayed there for five days and Lea was very friendly and helped me to make a reservation for my icefield tour. I think all the staffs were very friendly. I am very satisfied and this place is very recommendable for Banff visitors

I've never been to a hostel or most hotels that were so proud and obviously active in keeping their location spic and span clean. The staff was very helpful. You couldn't beat the price. The only down side was the young men who were playing pool in the common room. Both their language and that in the music they were...

Don't know about dorms but a private room will cost 130+ CAD and will get you: Dirty cramped double room. It hadn't been cleaned from previous occupants whose food and stuff we found in the floor. Heater was leaking and floor was stained everywhere. Took 3 change of towels to get some clean ones. Bathroom was shameful, even for backpackers...

Hello and thanks for the feedback. I've followed up your complaints with housekeeping. In summer our prices do change a lot, and in Vancouver that is a cheap price for a private room. We do take pride in our work here and I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience with us. Cheers, Pete

What can I say, I gave it a 4 star. It was clean, the people were friendly (for the most part), they provide breakfast, they're cheap! Nice bar downstairs, fun games at night, easy to socialize and make friends. I would recommend this place.

It was my first stay at a hostel and first trip as a solo traveller. Samesun Vancouver was amazing, Ria in particularly was so great and really went it of her way to make a connection with people. It was clean, fun, really social and activities are fantastic. Can't imagine staying anywhere else in Vancouver. Definitely going back!

Such a good move choosing this hostel, big shout out to Giles & Ria! Everything's clean, the free activities are great, the bar is heaps of fun. Top notch staff. Right where you need to be in town, close to everything. Friendly people and good understanding of respect when it's time to be quiet and let people rest.

Staying in Granville Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Granville Street
Granville Street spans many, multiple city blocks and has become so fastidiously known for its nightclubs and watering holes that it's fondly nicknamed the city's 'Entertainment District.' Friday and Saturday nights are the most popular and lively, with young revelers taking to the streets in droves and keeping the party going until late. Granville Street, being mostly open to pedestrian-only traffic, has a healthy social life along its main thoroughfares, even outside of its cafes and pubs, spilling onto the sidewalks. The locals are chatty, the shops at its expansive Pacific Centre Mall are trendy, and the whole area seems to be on a sugar rush: in a good way. Exuberance and camaraderie classify this neighbourhood.
