We stayed at this hotel primarily because it was downtown, reasonably priced and had secure parking. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, although I did have to insist on secure parking (as advertised) rather than outside adjacent parking. Too many shady characters drifting around this area of downtown. We stayed five nights and the room was not always "cleaned" with the beds made and linens replenished. When "cleaned", it was a poor job. The hallways were not that clean and our bathroom had mould on the floor. One elevator did not stop level with the floor and had duct tape covering some buttons. Dust bunnies and dirt were often in evidence. The rooms face inwards overlooking an ugly multi-story empty core of the building; there was no street (or any) view from our room. The room was quiet, though. Plumbing worked ok, but the bedside lamps did not. Took a while to figure out the wall switches too. Overall a poor level of accommodation in a downtown location in a premier city like Vancouver

The location in relation to downtown and Gastown is pretty good, but there are two night clubs at the front door that you hear late into the night on weekends. Parking was awful and not well marked - hidden down a back alley. The rooms were clean and the staff was accommodating/helpful. We picked this place because they were able to fit 5 into a single room (albeit tight) and the price was pretty reasonable. Do not expect a 5 star experience here. They do offer breakfast vouchers at the next door night club for $14/person. We passed on this. The hotel is sufficient

The staff were very friendly. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. Neighbors upstairs sounded very loud but went to bed and then room was very quiet. I have a concern that if the hotel had been fuller, noise could have been a problem. The website advertised parking, but didn't say that it was in a narrow, outdoor lot near a bus stop. The gym was actually a gift pass which required walking a couple of blocks in your workout clothes. The descriptions could have been more accurate.

We stayed in this property for just one night before our Alaska cruise. The location is it's USP and we actually walked down to Canada Place to board our cruise.
The rooms are spacious and bright and there is complimentary coffee available in the reception. Eateries are all around and the Pacific Mall is within walking distance.
We had a very comfortable stay!

Summary:

Smelly, noisy and dirty

Some Details:

I started to get a bad feeling when we were offered ear plugs during check-in. We were told that the hotel was noisy do to its proximity to local clubs and pubs so I asked if there were any rooms available that didn’t face the main street. The person checking us in informed us that our room was not facing the street so off we went (after waiting an age for the one elevator that was currently working).

As soon as I stepped into the room my nostrils started to itch – the smell in the corridors was hardly fresh but the odor in the room was “strange” to say the least. I checked where the room was (by kneeling down on the bathroom floor to look out of the window) and was relieved that the room was facing “inwards”. No view but also no noise – or so I thought.

I was happy when I pulled back the bed covers and noticed that the mattress was covered with an elasticated sheet – the ones that tend not to move during the night leaving you sleeping directly on the mattress. That’s when I noticed the big green and red booger on the underside of sheet around the duvet which had presumably, due to its concrete-like consistency, survived the laundry cycle. That sheet went straight on the floor and I tried getting to sleep while failing to convince myself that the duvet touching me had been laundered – despite its appearance suggesting otherwise. (Why do hotels cover duvets with flat sheets instead of proper duvet covers?)

I didn’t hear any noise from the nearby pubs and clubs until people falling out of them starting piling into the hotel – apparently with zero appreciation of the fact that most people in hotels tend to be asleep in the early hours...

The noise started at approximately 1:30 AM. Not only could I hear people running around shouting on my floor and the floor above but also the floor below – what kind of building construction makes that possible? At around 4:00 AM I remembered the offer of ear plugs and realized why it had been made.

The noise problem was compounded by the vending machines near the elevators – it seems these were a mecca for people with the late night munchies who were presumably deafened in the clubs and therefore had to scream and shout at their friends standing only two feet away – and then find everything that was said (or rather shouted) extremely funny.

At around 4:30 AM someone was banging on my room door with several others in the corridor giggling loudly. That’s when I first heard the words “I really don’t feel safe in here”. I didn’t feel safe either – the distance from the door to the bed was about 3 feet and I found myself latching the door and standing by it while wondering what on earth I would do if the door suddenly opened.

After almost no sleep I decided that a shower might perk me up. That’s when I noticed that the booger monster had also left his / her concrete-like deposits on the shower curtain.

After stepping over a partly cleared pile of puke on the pavement near the hotel’s main door (no kidding) I vowed never to return – not even if they put unused ear plugs and baseball bats in the rooms.

Makes you feel it's a 1/2 star hotel. A/C was noisy and room phone was not functioning. Wasted around 2 hours of my trip to try and solve this with staff. Send the maintenance guy up and send him back down. No other rooms were available. No response from the front desk. No manager on site. No face coverings. No room service for 5 days. 4 adults had to deal with one soap bar and a tiny shampoo bottle. No fridge in the room and tiny closet. Overall they deserve one star. The location is prime and thats it.

This hotel was mediocre at best. The first night I arrived I had to walk through various night club lineups to get to the entrance. I was then told I may need earplugs. I get to my room and the tv is on but it’s scramble. I try everything but cannot get cable. The young man at the front desk was rude and unhelpful. The room also smelled verrry strongly of chlorine. I decide to hit up the vending machines…they are NOT where the signs all say they are and are mostly empty. What snacks they do have are all crammed in one row so you can’t even get what you want. Next I find there is no bathroom fan and the windows don’t open. I figure fine I will go to bed. The king size bed is great; really the only thing this hotel has going for them. The pillows sucked though. The next day myself and some others are trying to get the elevator going while the staff watch us. Eventually another guest tells us it’s broken. I looked at the desk people and thanked them for not letting us know… sarcastically.. no response. I go take a shower and there is somebody else’s hair on the side, the water is either too hot or too cold, and the shower head is gross and barely works. For almost $350 a night I was appalled. I don’t normally complain about hotels but wow. Unless you are 20 and wanting to party hard your whole stay I do NOT recommend!!

Poor services, bed sheets had stains and wrinkles, no amenities including health preventative supplies like sanitary begs, Air condition unit making constant noise from the second we turned on, bath room exhaust fan making noise like a private jet plane, no coffee cups, lids, sugar or stirrer sticks and over all when we ask for a sanitary begs the customer service guy MAZ was telling us they don't provide it, we have to buy it from 7-Eleven store. What the hotel is charging all the big money for? No break fast, no amenities and poor guest services.
Also the facilities it self is in a DUMP areas - the HOMELESS peoples are every where on the street where ever there are vacant places entry doors areas.

Because of the nightclub next door we were offered ear plugs to deafen the sound. I couldn’t believe we had heard this. We asked and received another room on the opposite side, but the bass could still be heard and felt in the room. This went on until after 2pm when they shut down. Unbelievable that we were not warned about this before checking in. besides that the personnel were very accommodating and the room was clean and comfortable. A lot of vagrants and drugs (not legal drugs) were being dealt and used on the streets in from of the hotel. That was all over the streets though.

This hotel hosts some of the unfriendliest most unprofessional staff I have ever encountered. They were downright rude, they refused to give me my deposit back because I was expected to pay $25/towel for 3 towels, yes you read that right, they wanted to charge me $75 for 3 towels because when getting out of the shower my self tanning solution turned one of them kind of pink, which washes out in the wash, and if they are sanitizing properly should have been bleached anyway. Then they proceeded to tell me there was makeup all over them and they can’t be reused. They wouldnt let me check out until they checked my room, so that right there shows me they were fishing for any reason to charge me more money, this tiny room that stunk like mold and was barley big enough for 2 people ended up costing me $360… Honestly, do not stay here, the manager, the staff the cleanliness, the extra charges, no pool, no breakfast, it isn’t worth the money at all.

They have parking, and charge $25 for overnight which is obscene considering the room costs over $300.
