Room was small and the house wasn't very clean, smelled really bad of cat litter, cats, and cooking. Our room had a door into someone else's bathroom that we couldn't lock (was chained on the bathroom side), so someone else could have access to our room anytime. Shared kitchen was a mess with dirty pans on the counter. And the...

We (a couple) stayed in the $40/night "loft" area. We were not expecting much, especially since the owner reminded us after confirmation that it would just be a mattress on the floor, with no door...we appreciated the honesty! We felt a little uneasy (last cheap hotel we stayed at in Vancouver was on East Hastings and a little uncomfortable at...

We had a basement king suite with a private bathroom. The bedding and bathroom were clean, all of the rooms had key card locks. That is the only positive thing I have to say. The walls were so thin that we barely slept as all, as we were privy to our neighbor's unfortunate bowel issues that had them up multiple times...

This was a very convenient location for a two week visit to the Vancouver General Hospital/BC Cancer Agency complex. Walkable area, lots of good restaurants and grocery stores nearby, convenient to sky train for trips to airport or downtown, but downtown was only a 30 minute walk so even the skytrain was not needed. Did not miss having a vehicle....

I stayed in a $50 a night room, and while the price was very affordable, the experience has me weary of returning. Note that while I gave a rating of 3 stars, I believe that 2.5 would be more appropriate. Issues: 1. The room was absolutely freezing. It was so cold that I slept arrayed in sweatpants, two shirts, a...

My parents stayed here when they were visiting. To begin with, reservation was very complicated by telephone. It took me 4 phone calls to them in order to get them to send me a confirmation email, and even then the email just stated 'we confirm this reservation' and no other information! They also misunderstood my question about not charging my...

We booked 3 nights accommodation from the UK. At the time (this has now changed) the information said that the Manor Guesthouse had free on street parking. We therefore rolled up in our hire car to discover that the on street parking was for permit holders or for 2 hours during the day only. There were 4 guest parking spaces...

Great location, comfy home with everything you need. We stayed 5 nights and had a lovely time. A steep 3 block walk from the station with restaurants, grocery shops etc all at the end of the block. A constant supply of coffee and biscuits in the reception / garden area and off street parking for those with cars. Rooms are...

Last minute booking, for just a one-night stop, turned out to be an ideal location: large house full of character, perfectly located close to very convenient public transport route. Ideal for access to both Downtown and airport

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighbourhood Profile
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
