Barclay House is the kind of place you dream of finding. Right price, perfect location if you are needing to be near the city and faultless in all aspects from rooms to meals and your host. We had to change rooms because of prior bookings and both rooms were immaculate. We found being within walking distance of downtown Vancouver or...

We have had a lovely stay at Barclay House b&b. We stayed for 4 nights in the Peak room, a large open plan room at the top of the house with the added bonus of a wet bar, lovely ensuite bathroom with bathtub and a comfortable sitting area. Thanks to Dennis for the tasty breakfasts and excellent advice on the...

Fabulous guest house in the heart of Vancouver. Our room, 'Forest' was lovely, beautiful decor, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and the seperate sitting area with tv was an added bonus. The extra touches like proper glasses, cookies on arrival and a coffee making machine were great. Dennis is a wonderful host, so helpful and his breakfasts are delicious and different...

My wife and I stayed for five blissful nights toward the end of April while her parents watched our kids and gave us some much-needed couple time. We were so impressed! Dennis was a wonderful host and a wonderful cook. The breakfasts were elegant, delicious, and well-balanced. The room, and its jacuzzi, were beautifully appointed and so romantic. We were...

This was our third time staying at the beautiful Barclay house, we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Vancouver. We were sad to hear that Arty was no longer there but none the less Dennis was still there. He really made our stay most enjoyable as usual with his witty humour and charming personality. I really highly recommend this beautiful old...

I travel and lot and try to stay at BnBs, but Barclay House definitely made my top 5 list! Dennis is a fantastic host, available but unassuming. I was a little concerned about having a room right T the top of the stairs, but the noise was no problem. The room was very comfortable - great bed, lots of space...

I thought I had made an online reservation at Barclay House but had not gotten it right. So, I showed up and no one was expecting my arrival. I was out of country, no cell service, no one awaiting my arrival... so I Skyped my husband who called. Dennis answered and broke out of what he was doing at 7...

Just stayed three nights at the Barclay House in Vancouver's west end. Fabulous two room suite with a huge King size bed for a "famous" guy like me (Dennis are listening?). Breakfasts are delicious. The location couldn't be better. Close to Robson and a short walk to Coal Harbor and Vancouver's world class waterfront. We even walked to Stanley Park...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
