Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had tickets for the Seinfeld show at the Queen Elizabeth theatre, which is a 5-minute walk away, so we chose this hotel for its proximity. We were pleasantly surprised that we were allowed to check in early, and were shown where we could park for free for the duration of our stay. Our room was cozy and clean (#203) and had windows we could open ourselves if needed. The central heat was fine, though. My only disappointment is that I accidentally left some earrings in the bathroom -- my fault, totally -- and when I emailed a few days after we checked out I was told that no earrings were found in the room. I double-checked every possible place I might have put them -- no joy. They weren't expensive but I really liked them, so I'm mad at myself. But if they had been found and returned to me, I would have given 5 stars instead of 4.

This charming boutique hotel is in a very convenient safe location for sightseeing, a large IGA, a variety of restaurants and Italian Gelato. The hotel also offers a 15% discount on meals at a lovely restaurant next door. Staff were super kind and helpful and there’s a lovely European style charming space downstairs with coffee and tea facilities. We stayed with our two grown sons from west Australia.

I stayed for 2 nights on a Fri & Sat in December. Upon arriving late in the evening, I was told the hotel had no hot water. They were offering just $20 per night compensation... 1. The compensation represents less than 15% of what I paid for my room (equivalent to $139 for a Friday night in January as listed currently on their website) - an outrageous amount, especially in the cold winter months. 2. The hotel staff said I'd received an email the day before arrival. I checked my junk email and it was nowhere to be found. That is also insufficient notice to find alternate accommodation when travelling on a 9hr transatlantic flight. Not the experience one expects at a hotel which claims to be "Vancouver’s Best Budget Boutique Hotel." 3. There was no duty manager on hand to discuss this issue. I asked to speak to a manager, but I was told the manager wouldn't be in until Monday and gave me an email address instead. When the hotel is having problems, it is good customer service to at least have a manager on call. On top of this, the hotel is very dated inside, there were crumbs on my bedside table when I arrived, and a funny smell in the poorly lit, single room. There are better alternatives in similarly well located areas at a similar price range. I would advise looking elsewhere. All in all a very disappointing and frustrating stay that is definitely not worth the price and poor customer service.

The hotel is in a good location, the room clean, the bed comfortable and the water hot. However I did feel that it requires decor updating and the room did not have a feel of comfy and welcome. If you are not keen to share bathroom facilities make sure that you book a room with its own bathroom. Also felt it was a tad on the expensive side for a nights accommodation. Staff friendly and Wi-Fi was solid.

Perfect location . Lots of restaurants nearby. Enjoyed brunch in the restaurant next door . We specified an en-suite after reading the reviews. Clean comfortable room . Staff competent and friendly .we used Ubers to travel to Stanley Park but closer to other attractions.

Hotel situated in downtown. Our room 301. No fridge in the room. Poor light in the room you can't read. All the bedrooms have a window above them which is not sufficiently screened internally, so there is never total darkness in the room. It took them three days ( on 5 of my stay ), to put a black plastic on the back of my window !!! Only after speaking with mr Jose it had been possible to resolve my problem. No safe box. Shower is ok. Beds ( two ) are comfy and pillows too. Television is very old, and, considering the high price of the room it's time for the owner to change them. OVERPRICED !!!

At Can$475 per night the hotel is definitely not worth the price. It is just the bare basics. There is no coffee or tee in the room, not even in the lobby. Coffee and hot water is available in the morning from 7 or 8. If you're there for work you are out of the hotel before there is any coffee is available. The showers are the smallest I have ever seen! The room is nearly uncomfortably small. It was clean and the front desk staff was friendly. I would not recommend this hotel. I have stayed other hotels in Vancouver as well as Victoria on Vancouver Island that was about half the price and you get a lot more value for money.

This hotel is very well located — 3 minutes walk to the metro station that takes you straight to the airport, cross street from bus stops, walking distance to the water front Canada Place, and half a block to Starbucks, a nice grocery store with lots of food choices, and many restaurants. The front desk girl is very nice, and gave me an early check in when I arrived in the morning, which was super helpful. The room is small, but sufficient. This is the best deal in town. The only area for improvement is that I wish the faucet in the room is not the type that you need one hand to hold to keep it open, which makes it very difficult to even wash hands and face and brush teeth in the room, and there is only one bathroom and shower on each floor with quite a few guests.

We loved the location and the way they have maintained the decor of this hotel to reflect the age. Everything was comfortable and the staff were very accommodating. Along with our stay, they gave us a coupon for the restaurant next door called Fables. The food was delicious! We will stay here again if in the area.

Found this hotel looking for reasonably priced hotel in downtown Vancouver. Booked by phone but got an upgrade from a cancellation which was great. It's a boutique style similatr to European style and one we stayed at in San Francisco. Very clean and cozy plus the service was excellent especially from Sean, the manager who seems to be there 24/7. He made sure we were comfortable. Also a great restaurant next door with very good food (Fable Diner and Bar). Within walking distance to many sites of Vancouver.
