Parking was easy and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. We had a comfortable room on the 6th floor, nice and quiet and with a bay view. I liked the slightly old fashioned ambience and the historic photos on the walls. We didn't eat...More

When the usual staff for early Sunday morning breakfast were felled by various illnesses, Shelly was called in to the rescue and was totally wonderful. She whipped the whole room into shape very quickly, got everything going, coffee and food in rapid succession.

We've always wanted to stay at this hotel, for its great location near English Bay. The rooms were lackluster and lacked amenities that make a hotel good. We didn't get any extra toiletries and had to go to the bar for wine glasses and a...More

I have been a loyal customer of the Sylvia Hotel since the 1980's and would not even consider staying anywhere else when visiting Vancouver. Quite apart from the spectacular views of English Bay, its proximity to Stanley Park and its old world European charm the...More

Must stay here for the location alone. Right by English Bay where the view is stunning and No.1 activity is to ride bicycles around Stanley Park. No worry for parking when you stay here. Countless restaurants are also within easy walking distance. It's a well...More

A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along
with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.

with 4 people its best value to take a taxi from the airport directly to the hotel. It will cost you about $35 which is very good for 4. Its fast, comfortable and simple. You can take sky train but it does not take you very close to the hotel so you have to transfer to a bus which is too much trouble with luggage. I am not sure how much the sky train and bus would cost but likely similar for 4 persons.
