The Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront offers a blend of nostalgic charm and a need for updates, as reflected in travelers' reviews of its atmosphere and room decor. While the live music adds vibrancy, some guests mention a persistent droning noise. The hotel's prime location with stunning harbor views consistently receives praise, despite some criticism of the amenities and additional costs. Cleanliness is typically well-regarded, and the service team is commended for their professionalism. Opinions on value vary, as guests appreciate the location but not the high prices or the dated aspects of the property.

All staff were friendly, attentive, and served us well.

Very pleased with the location and (blinkered) harbour view from an 8th floor room. Location was perfect for attending the Everything Electric Show at the convention centre and walking to local sights and restaurants. Five parking spots near the entrance to the underground self-park garage are equipped with electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment. Level 2 (J1772) plugs are available at no cost but guests are asked to limit charging time to two hours.

Room was clean and quiet. Two sets of doors on the balcony mitigate most of the engine noise from the HarbourAir aircraft, but hooligans with loud gasoline engines sometimes roam the streets near the hotel at night. Meanwhile, look forward to when HarbourAir's all-electric aircraft are approved for paying passengers!

However as other reviewers noted two years ago (2022), the room decor is (still) dated; despite the view and location, it feels difficult to justify room prices as high as CA$580 before fees and taxes. Maybe something closer to CA$400 for rooms with a view would draw business away from neighboring hotels as long as guests prioritize the view and location over the quality of the room decor. Or maybe the hotel is saving up for a major renovation to address this concern?

Dear Michael, Thank you for choosing the Pinnacle. We are happy to hear you liked our location and view. Our electric charging stations are definitely popular these days so thank you for mentioning them. It is good news that you found the room to your liking and got to enjoy the airplanes. We have noted your feedback about the room value and will be following up accordingly. We hope we will see you again for the next EV convention. Sincerely, Nick Burrows - Assistant Front Office Manager

We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel which took about 20 minutes. As soon as we entered the hotel we were greeted by a friendly bellhop who immediately took our luggage to store. Since it was just before noon, we assumed we wouldn't be given a room right away. Veronica at the front desk was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Lucky for us, a room was available and we immediately got checked in. After giving our room number to the bellhop, we headed up to our room on the 5th floor. Our luggage was delivered within a few minutes.

The king room was very spacious with a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. Coffee and tea, as well as half-and-half and sweeteners, were provided. The room had a patio door leading out to a private balcony which was enclosed in glass. There was a sliding window so that it could be opened for fresh air and a clear view. The room was clean and comfortable.

The hotel has a bar and restaurant on-site and is within walking distance of the waterfront and many restaurants and businesses. It's about a ten minute walk down to Canada Place, which is the cruise port. We walked down there the first day but opted to take a taxi to the port with our luggage the next day for our cruise. Taxis were waiting out front and the ride cost us about $12 US. If you walk, you take your luggage through the convention center then down to the parking area to turn in your luggage. It was just easier to be driven right to where we dropped our luggage.

We ended up eating lunch, dinner and breakfast at the restaurant on-site. P2B Bistro and Bar has a varied menu and we received great service from our waiter Lulzim. The prices were a little high, but this is Vancouver so that was expected. They seemed similar to other places we checked out during our walk around the harbor. The food was good.

Overall, this was a great stay with excellent service from the staff and a nice room. The location was great for exploring and taxis are available right outside the door.

We stayed at this hotel for one night, to break our flights between New Zealand and London, and to get a mini taster of Canada in preference to the US. Very pleased with our choice. I'm not sure what we paid as it was part of a package booked through a travel agent, but the best part was our room view - I think we were in room 523 on the 5th floor, and we had a wonderful view out over the harbour to the snow capped mountains beyond, and with plenty of seaplane action to enjoy.
The room itself was rather dated in style but warm and felt comfortable, with everything we needed and we had no noise issues from neighbours or outside. It contained 2 double beds and we found that one was more firm than the other, which rocked rather, so switched to the firmer one (noted that an earlier reviewer experienced same issue). Also an old style shower over bath but powerful and hot so no issues.
The location was great for walking over to Gastown in the evening (we enjoyed dinner in Water Street Cafe by the steam clock), and then to Stanley Park next morning, en route to which there were several cafe options for breakfast (recommend Cafe Villaggios for coffee and pastries). Then before we left for our flight we took an early dinner in Carderos at the harbour which was wonderful. We therefore didn't try the hotel's own restaurant for any meals, as breakfast was not included in our rate.
The concierge staff were helpful in storing our cases before we departed. It cost us the set rate of $47 Canadian to get a taxi to the hotel from the airport, and then to return to the airport there was a taxi rank right outside, so there was no need to pre-book which was handy (metered cost for the return, but worked out similar cost).
Just wish we had had more time! We had a cancelled flight from NZ, so arrived 5 hours later than planned for our already very brief stopover, which meant we only had a short evening and the next day to explore this beautiful peaceful city, rather than an afternoon at the start too. We were therefore very grateful it was a 12 noon check out next day.
Would happily stay here again and hope to revisit Canada with more time in the future!

A more budget friendly hotel than some but with a good harbour view if you request the right room.
The entrance is modern and stylish with the breakfast/dinning room to the rear of the reception area, we dined there on our first night and found the food and drink to be good value. This area is also accessible to the general public who can also access the bedroom floors from the ground floor lifts without having to use room cards, bit of a security issue.
Unlike the main entrance, our room on the fourth floor was showing its age in terms of decor and fixtures and fittings but very clean, we had been allocated a connecting room which was not particularly well sound proofed and on the second of our three night stay I could hear every raised voices and choice language from our neighbours, the room had patio doors, a stone floor then full height fixed windows so good for noise insulation but not for sitting out.
On our floor there was a fitness centre with swimming pool which looked very inviting and never seemed too busy.
Staff were friendly and helpful, in particular barman lulzim who was happy to chat and advise on beer selection, makes a difference.
The location igood for Coal Harbour and Canada Place and just a short walk further to Gastown
I don’t think i needed to pay more to stay somewhere else

Hot tub was closed for maintenance at 10:00 am.
Do the “cleaning” overnight do guests can use in the morning.
Restaurant food is not good and $22 for a plate of eggs is crazy. Front desk clerks had a hard time with check out. Took about 15 min to try to leave. Then incorrect charges added and still not reversed.

The pillows were so flat the first night. Couldn’t sleep at all. Asked the maid to change and slept better. Danny was great at the bell desk. Helped me find a free car charger. They were occupied when I came in. The parking costs but charging is included. Hotel lobby is pretty with Christmas decorations but rooms and room floor is looking tired. The carpets are the ugliest colour. There is no slippers or robes. I requested both but only got a robe which was so thin, felt ready for recycling. Nice view from room. Pretty quiet. There is an empty fridge in room which is good to put your own food without having to move bottles around. The shower pressure is good but there’s no hand held shower head. Check out is 12 which is later than most places.

We came to Vancouver for a cruise. The cruise line recommended hotel was really expensive and we felt that being next to the cruise terminal was not worth paying the premium for several days. We were right, the location was fine and we could just see the Harbour from our room. (not true for all rooms) It is a short cab ride away with luggage, or a simple walk (without luggage) to the Harbour. Being able to rent electric bikes on site was a positive.

We got great service at the hotel and in general to explore Vancouver, ate outside of the hotel. We ate in the restaurant 3 times the week we stayed there, service and the food were great all three times. One night we came back hungry and wanted a small dinner before going to bed. The singer at the restaurant was not singing songs we enjoyed and we asked to sit in a quiet place.

The quietest place was on the outside deck, which was still part of the restaurant and is sheltered. The walls between the inside and outside are thick clear glass, so you can't be forgotten about.

We ordered a simple dinner (see photo for one of our plates, both were essentially the same) and some hot beverages and were treated like royalty. It cooled off while we were eating and we were given blankets. A propane space heater was wheeled over and started. So we remained warm and dry while being well fed. That's being well looked after.

One final note, sitting there having dinner provided an interesting sight. The large buildings across the street seemed vacant, with no lights coming on as it got dark. Vancouver has a real problem with owned but not occupied real estate. There is a moratorium on new foreign ownership for about 2 years to try to help reduce housing costs. Thus, no matter where you stay in Vancouver, the servers, maids, etc. probably have to come from far away due to affordability issues with housing. So, please be generous with your tips.

We would gladly go back to Vancouver and the Pinnacle.

Calling this a “4 star hotel”, is quite a stretch. Even if it were a 2 star budget hotel, it would be generous. We had high hopes for this hotel as we wanted our family to have a fun getaway at a nice hotel. Unfortunately it fell short in every possible way.

First, front desk staff. Their service was merely passable. They did their job, nothing more. Customer service was not their forte.

Second, the room. The room we had was abysmal. Can’t fault the daily housekeeping, because main areas were clean. However, carpet was ripped, hair was on waterproof lining of the bed, and thick layers of dust throughout the perimeter of the room. Edges have not been properly cleaned or vacuumed in years. This is a huge issue, especially if one is allergic to dust. Room wasn’t properly supplied with coffee cups or any wine glass, and instead had only paper cups available.

Third, the elevators. The elevators were not working properly. Often times, when the elevators clearly marked “going up”, we would get in, enter our floor, only for the elevator to take us down to parkade level. In some cases, we would start going up and for some reason, after we stopped to let someone in, our floors would cancel out and we would go back down to lobby. It was extremely frustrating. The service elevator to take customers from curb side level to where the check in counters are is also not very convenient, and it was emitting a burning motorized smell.

Fourth, fitness center and swimming pool. Our kids went swimming late afternoon before dinner, but there were no towels available in the towel area. Eventually they restocked it, but with only 10-12 towels. There were at least 3 other families there at the same time, so obviously there were not enough towels for everyone. This was also extremely frustrating as the shelves should have been properly stocked full of towels at all times as other “4 star hotels” do. Also, the gym has super dated equipment. If you are looking for more new and modern machines to work with, this is not it.

Fifth, ties in with first point. Upon check out, front desk never asked “how was your stay?” Which goes to show that they simply don’t care.

The only saving grace for this hotel is its location and restaurant was decently good. If you are looking to stay at an overpriced Travelodge with a great location, this is the hotel for you. If you would like a nice, similarly priced hotel to stay at, there are plenty of other nicer hotels in the same great location.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet expectations. It’s clear that there were multiple areas where we fell short, and we are genuinely sorry for the inconveniences you encountered during your stay. We take customer service seriously, and we will review the performance of our front desk staff to ensure they are providing the warm and attentive service our guests deserve. Your comments regarding cleanliness are concerning, and we will immediately address this with our housekeeping team to ensure thorough inspections and maintenance are carried out in every room. We are also aware of the elevator issues you mentioned and will have our maintenance team inspect and resolve the problems to avoid any future frustrations. The issue with the pool towels and gym equipment will also be addressed to improve the experience for families and guests looking to use these amenities. Your feedback about check-out is also valuable, and we’ll work to ensure our front desk staff engages more meaningfully with guests to ensure their stay was comfortable. While we’re glad you appreciated our location and restaurant, we understand that your stay was far from ideal, and we truly regret that. We hope you will consider giving us another chance in the future to provide you with the experience you initially hoped for. Kind Regards, Mackenzie, Front Office Manager

We really enjoyed our two nights stay at the pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront the location is fabulous and is within easy walking distance to all of the downtown attractions. Upon arrival we parked our car in the very convenient parking garage where unfortunately we had a very minor issue finding the correct elevator to the hotel lobby as there are multiple signs in the parking garage, some of which point the wrong direction Check in was fast and easy and the hotel has very friendly staff. Our room was a partial view king room, which was very clean and overall it was wonderful. The room size was much larger than average with plenty of space to spread out, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also well appointed however, the ventilation was nonexistent or very weak, which led to quite a bit of shower steam Water pressure was excellent. The Keurig coffee machine came with plenty of pods and the room had a smaller refrigerator, which was useful for keeping leftovers and drinks. The partial view room gave us a much bigger and broader view of Vancouver harbor than we expected and that was quite lovely. This hotel is a very nice place to stay due to the location and value however everything about the building is just slightly aged and the building and furnishings are a bit worn but clean the hotel standard check out time is at 12 PM which is also a nice bonus as it allowed for a leisurely lovely morning prior to departure. We would definitely stay here again.

We booked this hotel for our 10th anniversary, thinking FOUR star would be a nice hotel. We were very disappointed- cleanliness was lacking in our room; dusty, not vacuumed properly and fridge not cleaned out-our room smelt of garlic due to the contents left behind. The toilet paper was very cheap, the hot tub was old and very small, dirty clothes was left on the 4th floor near elevator for 2 days, and furniture needs replacing as does the carpeting (very outdated and fringed/damaged) room 829.
The staff was overall pleasant, the bed was comfortable, good water pressure in the shower and nice harbor view but for the cost- we expected more!

If you are arriving at the Pacific Central Station it is a 10-15 minute uber or taxi ride to the hotel. Alternatively you can take public transit (there is a skytrain station across from the rail station) but with luggage likely easier to go in a vehicle.

According to the website of the Port of Vancouver, the princess cruise terminal is at Canada Place. I was there. According to google maps you will need to walk 1 km, i.e. 15 minutes from the hotel to the Canada Place. This is a easy walk without baggage. If you take a car, you will be there in 3 minutes.

Are harbour view rooms noisy at night?
Vancouver, Canada
Hello Galih124, our Harbour view rooms are not typically considered noisy at night time. Our Harbour view rooms open out onto Cordova Street which is typically a much quieter street. Please don't hesitate to contact us directly should you have any additional questions.
