Overall I had a good 5-night stay at the Moda. The staff were excellent. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was clean. The location was good (although there were many homeless/mentally unstable people around which could feel a bit sketchy at night).

The quirks - the room smelled really musty but I didn’t notice it after a few mins. The bedding was annoying as it was a sheet, blanket and a second sheet - all of which would slip apart during the night. The floors were uneven. The AC was loud and not very effective at keeping the room warm. Also the windows were not double glazed (!) so you could hear a lot of street noise. I slept well every night despite this.

I probably wouldn’t stay here again but I was happy with my stay overall.

It's an older building, drafty old windows. Old heaters that are loud, but need to be on in March. Great location downtown, close to everything. Really cheap bedding, bad pillows, but it was one of the cheapest rooms on the online for the nights I wanted. The room has a coffee maker, a wardrobe, and a full ironing board to set up and use, pretty handy for a cheap room, but definitely not a place to impress anyone or write home about.

Found this place because it was close to the conference center. Pleasantly surprised with the quality especially with the low room weekday price. At first I thought it was small- like a European hotel, but had every thing we needed AND the bathroom was large. You could tell it was an older hotel that had been renovated, but they did a good job. Smelled great! Do not miss the Cibo restaurant in the lobby- super cuisine and you get a 15% discount.

Nice room, great location, comfortable bed, helpful staff. Staff had great recommendations for restaurants we were not disappointed. The location was in walking distance to bike rentals, good restaurants, cheap-parking($18) day, fairly quiet street

This quaint "boutique" hotel is great for the area - close walking distance to many venues. Bar and restaurant connected are a definite PLUS. The room was not spacious but not cramped - Clean and comfortable.

Didn’t like this hotel at all, at $350 per night my expectations were a little higher.

No mirror at the dressing table, bathroom very dirty including dust on top off the shower curtain. No counter space.

The road noise is so loud, the carpet was old and worn and I didn’t want to walk on it in bare feet.

The bed was very uncomfortable and the fitted bottom sheet didn’t seem to fit. No support in the pillows.

The door to the room is right into the room, you can hear people constantly coming and going. If I had been on my own as a women, I wouldn’t have felt safe.

The rooms are old & dated, the red interior is like something from the 80s!

Then to add insult to the whole experience there was an envelope to tip the housekeeper.

The plus points, reception friendly, right down town for concert & sports venues.

Stayed twice over a recent period with very different results
Location is perfect, walking distance to all major attractions , shops, bars, restaurants etc.
standard room at the back of the hotel are decent enough size with comfortable chairs and all the modern conveniences.
mini room at the front of the hotel - compact, cheap furniture and you may aswell have the window open with the amount of street noise you can hear aswell as neighboring rooms. mine also had the previous mentioned sloped floor - quite disconcerting.
restaurant onsite was doing well (never visited). wine bar has great happy hour deals and always had a nice friendly atmosphere.
would i stay again? only if they could guarantee a quite room at the back which they advise they cant confirm until check in...

Positives: The location is excellent, the rooms are clean and comfortable (albeit a bit small). It was good to have a refrigerator in the room. The front-desk staff was very friendly, and the (optional) parking was close by and very secure.

Areas for improvement: There aren't enough outlets in the room, for charging cell-phones, etc. I recommend they replace the lamps with ones that have outlets built into the base.

As you can tell, a lot of positives, and one minor area for improvement... we enjoyed our stay, will stay there again on a future trip, and recommend it to anyone looking for affordable hotel within walking distance to Gastown, Chinatown, and the Canada Place.

The lobby had a urinal smell when we arrived. The parking was secure but in another building. The room was small as aspected. The bed was comfortable and the shower was fine. However for the cost of the room and additional cost for the parking it was priced far too expensive. Definitely location location location!

Clean little hotel. Friendly staff and decent location. None of the frills of the big, pricier hotel chains, but comfortable enough. If you are looking to save a little money or headed to a performance across the street, give it a try.

There is no transportation, but only a 5 minute can ride. Yes it can be noisy if you are on a lower floor, and there are constant vehicle break ins in their gated parking lot so never park there.
