When I was looking for a hotel in Vancouver, I was trying to find something that doesn’t cost a fortune and will be in walking distance to downtown attractions. The Burrard had a promotion that included parking, and it was what we needed.
The hotel is very nice and bright. They used unusual colours for a hotel. But it looked really great and created a festive mood. The hotel has an inner courtyard. Very beautiful. The hotel also had a complimentary bike rental.
The room is basic with a very small fridge, but the bathroom is new, with modern fixtures that I have not seen in any other hotels and a lot of fixtures to hang towels. Very clean.
There is a hospital across from hotel, but the area around is not very clean and a lot of homeless people around. But it is downtown and it was expected. There are lot of places to eat around. Overall, I had a very good impression and will recommend it.

The Burrard is a lovely small hotel in the middle of downtown Vancouver so is central to many of the sights and attractions. Although small, our room was very well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay, including a good coffee machine. The bed was big and comfortable. Daily housekeeping was first class with the room in impeccable order each day we returned to it. All of the staff that we came across were polite, friendly and very helpful. The free use of good quality bicycles was a real bonus and it was easy to cycle from the hotel to Stanley Park and back all by cycle routes. The patio area in the centre of the hotel is a great feature and place to relax.
The only down side to our room was the blackout window blind which has reached the point of needing to be replaced, it was quite worn with lots of small holes. Also the half-curtains were only for show and did not go all the way across the window. Had they done so the black out blinds would have been less important.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main road are probably noisier than those on the other three sides of the hotel.

Clean room and bathroom. Quiet. There is a thermostat in the room for heat and a big a/c (and fan) unit on the floor for temperature control depending on the season. Old building with doors that open to the inner courtyard. Good location, a few blocks from shopping streets and Canada Place, etc. Several restaurants nearby. One complaint is that food smells come into the room through the door cracks and the fan from the restaurants nearby and downstairs. Some guests might enjoy that, but others don't want to smell that all night. Otherwise, nice and quirky hotel.

We’re so glad that you chose us as your home base for your time in Vancouver. We’re thrilled to hear that you’re a big fan of our location, rooms and amenities – we love them too! However, we’re less thrilled to hear that you found the smell from the food from the restaurants nearby to be an issue; however we appreciate your honest and valuable feedback. Thank you for taking the time to post your review, we hope you’ll come back and see us again!

First let me say the staff were lovely. They were not the issue here.

I booked into this hotel because I had a very early medical appointment. When I called, I let the person I spoke to know I was a wheelchair user. She didn’t give me any indication that the hotel wasn’t accessible.

When I arrived, I found the front entrance had two stairs & no ramp. The coffee shop that is connected to the hotel had a ramp, but it was closed. I waved at the worker inside and he came to the door and when I asked to access the hotel through the coffee shop, he graciously let me & held the doors for me,

The elevator for the hotel is TINY. It barely fits a wheelchair and I had to turn sideways, once in to allow the door to close. My room was on the third floor and when I got off, the walkways were entirely blocked with housekeeping carts. I hollered for housekeeping but no one heard me or came. I then tried calling the front desk to ask for help, but all I got was voicemail.

I decided to go back down in the elevator to get help, but a worker came up with the elevator and when I explained that I couldn’t get to my room because the carts were blocking me off, he moved them for me.

My room had a lip to enter the doorway, but I was able to get over it, The room itself was not accessible-no space to maneuver my chair and the small bathroom had no room to get a wheelchair inside. It was a regular bathroom with a tub.

The room had no overhead lighting, just these two rectangular lights on either side of the bed. I couldn’t figure out how to turn them off-no switch anywhere, so I had to unplug them to go to bed.

Because this is a motor hotel style hotel with walkways around a courtyard, people walk right by your window. The gauzy curtains give no privacy and the heavier curtains have about a foot and a half gap. (They don’t close.) This forces you to go into the bathroom to change and as a woman didn’t feel safe because anyone could stand outside and look in, even when you’re sleeping.

When I left in the morning, the cafe wasn’t open, so I had to exit the building via the parking garage. Fortunately the man behind the front desk escorted me. This also is not optimal, as a woman to be forced to go into a parking garage and exit onto a side street while it’s still dark. I appreciated the escort though.

Again, the staff were great, but had I known how inaccessible this hotel was, I would have stayed elsewhere.

Also, the artwork on the wall in my room was sexist and I hated everything about it. Not the best choice.

I had an absolutely horrible experience at this hotel. I had to change hotels a week into my month long stay in Vancouver. I changed rooms twice before deciding to book another hotel. The vaping problem at this hotel is unbearable. It is mostly due to the shared ventilation system. It was so bad that I was having trouble breathing, and my ears would pop repeatedly due to the constant vaping happening. There was also a really unpleasant odor due to the vaping that made me want to throw up. The air quality due to the problem felt very unhealthy. They make attempts to deep clean the rooms once a complaint was made, but this is only addressing the thirdhand effects of vaping. They are doing absolutely nothing to address the secondhand affects, and I would even argue firsthand affects, as research has found that you are vaping almost exactly what the firsthand person is vaping when you experience it secondhand. If hotels are going to claim to be non-smoking, they have an obligation to provide non-smoking accommodations to their guests. Most hotels say they are non-smoking these days, but I am experiencing more smoking than I have in my twenty years of travel due to this vaping problem that the hotels are not addressing. They claim to take smoking seriously but have absolutely no enforcement measures in place when a complaint is made. This is a really cute hotel with a lot to offer, but if guests are risking their health and comfort to stay there, any amenity or positive aspect is just not worth it. If you are experiencing pressure on your chest, ears popping, musty or weird smells or general air quality issues, it’s likely that someone, or many people, is vaping in a nearby room.

This is suuuch a gorgeous, stylish way to stay while you’re away from home. So many positives to name! They rent bikes to guests, so on top of their very bustling location you are able to get around without having to pay for and find parking. It is so clean, cute, and welcoming. The rooms are bright. The staff is very friendly. And they let you bring pets! Also there is a nice little garden/seating area to hang out! It’s also affordable! I love this place, I like to stay here whenever I visit Vancouver.

We chose this hotel based on location and value for money as we only needed it for 1 night before moving on to Whistler.
The room was on a par to a travelodge in England, so it was very basic.
it was so noisy at night as the windows are paper thin and our room was facing the Main Street where drunken people were shouting/swearing/screaming so we didn’t sleep well at all.
the bin in the bathroom hadn’t been emptied and all the previous customers contents were still there.
The railings around the walkway were horrendous and made me anxious every time my 5 year old walked past as she could easily slip under/through and we were 4 floors up - DO NOT STAY here with young children!!!
told the receptionist when we were leaving and they said just ‘oh, I’ll pass comments to my manager.’ we have heard nothing…

We had a very good stay at The Burrard in September. Arriving at the hotel before check in time, I asked if we could leave our suitcases while exploring the area, and was told that we could check in early (2 hours) and were also upgraded to a king bed room. So checking in was a breeze, as was checking out. I also asked for a room on the top floor, which was so clean and quiet. I wasn't disturbed by any sounds at any time. The bed was very comfortable, and the Nespresso machine was a major upgrade from the usual hotel coffee machines. There wasn't any housekeeping, but that was understandable and we were only here for 2 nights.

I normally would stay on Robson Street for the dining and shopping opportunities, but this area has its attractions, like the Granville Island market, Yaletown and Davie Street.

Thanks so much to Karan and the team at The Burrard, Karan checked me in early as I had just arrived after 15hrs of flying internationally which was meant I could catch up on sleep. The relaxed building with courtyard in the centre of the hotel creates a friendly atmosphere. Complementary bike hire was great to enjoy riding from the hotel to Stanley Park.

This hotel was really nice, comfortable bed, AC unit, cute aesthetics!Being in the city it was extremely convenient for food, coffee, walking around, etc. I would just be mindful of the noise as it’s above a main street and across from a hospital. Additionally, having parking was very nice and the fee wasn’t that bad I would just note that it’s a very very small and narrow two level garage so having a small car or skilled parking is ideal.

Can I walk to the Granville island market from your hotel?
Answer from The Burrard
Vancouver, Canada
Yes, you can! From the hotel you walk only about 7~10 minutes, to the aquabus, then you cross with one of the little ferries to Granville Island. It's only anothe 3~5 min crossing and will cost around $3.

I think a taxi is there best way to get to the Burrard from the cruise ship terminal. If you are feeling energetic it is just over a 20 minute walk. I do not believe Uber exists in the City of Vancouver.

No, they don't. They called a taxi for us and both times it was in the $35.00 range from the Burrard to the airport. It wouldn't surprise me that they would check you in when you got there, depending on how busy they are. My husband had a 9:30 am appt. at the hospital and checkout time is 12 Noon. Because we didn't know what time we would be finished at the hospital, we checked out at 9 am and they kept our luggage at the desk till we got back to the hotel at 1:30. They are very helpful that way.
