This is a budget hotel at prices that you struggle to find anywhere else in Vancouver. On top of that for CAD10 you can park your car which is a a bonus. The area is not desirable at all although it is NOT dangerous. There are just a LOT of homeless people in the streets but they are not dangerous...

This hotel is very old and because of that has a few problems. The lift worked most of the time, as long as you knew to push both up and down buttons. The floors were at an angle, so you felt seasick. Our room was tiny, the bed was against the wall and the most uncomfortable bed that I have...

Everything was very clean and neat and the staff were great, but the location (so close to the dregs of Vancouver) is not the greatest. Had a good peaceful sleep on the fourth floor. For a building that is 103 years old, it was nice. The pub was quite friendly and welcoming and the food that I had there was...

My boyfriend and I went to this hotel. Honestly it wasn't that bad. The elevator was a bit shady, The bed was pretty much the whole room, the bathroom was in a closet right next to the bed. I had to run water well going to the washroom because it is uncomfortable lol. The pub was good we met some...

We actually stayed here July 2014. Budget hotel, good base for a 1 or 2 nights, but not in the best area. Despite the surrounding area being a little less desirable, my partner and I never felt threatened. A short walk takes you Gas Town and cruise terminal etc. Our room was very basic, clean and was ample for our...

My BFF& I got a room, then the next night 2 rooms, as her guy came later. We were on same floor, around the corner, She had the Claw foot tub in room. I had a tiny room which was almost all bed, and shared bath in the hall- but we were there to see the town, and attend a...

Booked this hotel last minute online. As we approached the hotel we where walking down the road and noticed the area to be "very sketchy" to say the least. Say people shooting up and smoking crack right in front of the hotel. We where approached by a parademic who asked if where going to stay there. She flat out said...

Do not book this hotel if you are afraid of dodgy areas (crack smokers and prostitutes) and/or awful hotel decor. The location of this place is not ideal, and the interior could do with a massive update - I think it could best be described as shabby. It has zero mod cons - think holes (moth? Cigarette?) in the curtains,...

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
