We stayed at the Patricia for 1 night while in town to see a concert at Rogers Arena. The location was convenient located on a bus route and was only a 15 minute walk to the show. The area is extremely poor and some questionable people were hanging out around the hotel. However they were all polite and friendly, there...

Compared with most hotels in Vancouver this hotel is very inexpensive. Situated in the East end of the city, which is the poorest district in Canada, this hotel is a gem. Convenient public transportion the door step gets you into downtown in 15 mins and all the sights of this great young city. Comfortable, clean accommodation with good front desk...

The patricia hotel has been around for a super long time and as such carries an interesting history BUT You do not sleep in history. What I liked about the hotel was the friendly staff and the rooms although small were clean. Very old fashioned rooms. The location of the hotel is in the poorest part of Vancouver and as...

The staff at the Patricia Hotel were VERY accommodating. My husband and I traveled with our bicycles. We were able to store the bicycles in the basement of the hotel versus outside. We had great views of the nearby park, the port, the mountains and cityscape. There was a coffee machine in the lobby for a $2 cup of coffee....

This hotel is situated in the dirty East Chinatown area of Vancouver and was established in 1913. The hotel is largely original, including the external building sign, with some historical items scattered in the reception foyer which only draw you to look at them. The rooms are bare basic and near original layout (standard and deluxe) rooms are quiet small...

The staff here are fantastic , the bedroom clean and well decorated and showers warm and constant. My two nights in Vancouver were filled with amazing kayaking locations , sunset restaurants and efficient travel due to their great advice. East Hastings st can be off putting but it is safe and this budget hotel is a diamond in the rough.

We decided to arrive in Vancouver 2 days before taking a cruise to Alaska. Booked 2 nights here after reading some mostly positive reviews. I would not recommend this hotel if travelling with children or if handicapped. The hotel itself was clean and certianly no frills. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pub was nice with nightly live...

As we neared The Patricia Hotel, you could hear the uneasiness in our friends' voices as they warned us not to walk any further east from the hotel. We were already too far east for my comfort, as hookers way past their prime roamed about, people pulled out needles and illicit transactions were going on around us. None of these...

I spent two nights at the Budget Inn Patricia Hotel prior to my Alaskan cruise departure on May 7th. The hotel was perfect for me. Most of what's said in these reviews is reasonably true - the hotel is not in the most fancy or high class of neighborhoods. That said - I never felt the slightest bit unsafe, and...

I have stayed before in the Patricia Hotel, but I have not previously wrote a review. However after my recent stay I feel it is time to lend my view of the Hotel. It is definitely in an area of the city that has several street people and drug addicts, However other than the odd solicitation for money or a...

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
