Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I recently stayed at the Blue Horizon Hotel, for 11 days in late January 2024. I have stayed at the Blue Horizon, dozens of times since the late 1990’s principally for business. The west-central location is excellent for both business people and tourists as it is an easy walk to downtown, the convention center, Coal Harbor, the West End, as well as Stanley Park. It also is a short walk to two different SkyTrain stations, including the SkyTrain Canada Line which takes you directly to the airport. Nearby are good restaurants at all price levels, as well as a bank, a great local coffee place, a 24-hour bakery with food/coffee/tea, a drug store, a BC liqueur store, and a grocery store. Pretty much everything you need for an extended stay. The hotel setup is a bit unique. There are only 8 rooms per floor, and all rooms are corner rooms with lots of windows and a balcony. The bathrooms are small, but a remodel a few years back utilized the space they had very well and makes them feel more spacious than they are. The rooms include a good size closet, a small safe, a small refrigerator, coffee maker and a hot water pot for tea. One reason I keep coming back is the staff. They are great and straightforward to deal with. As an example, this last visit I had an issue with the heating system after I returned to my room after 9 pm. I contacted the front desk and 5 minutes later the night maintenance manager was at my room door. He addressed the problem and had it fixed within a few minutes. I will keep coming back when I need a place in Vancouver.

room was cozy. The front desk staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Had to call room service twice and they were also super friendly and helpful. Great place to stay in downtown Vancouver and reasonably priced next time. I can’t wait to bring my bathing suit and use their swimming pool, I wish I had brought it this time. However, I was downtown to go see Madonna with my sister, so swimming will wait till next time.

This gem of a hotel is in a great location, has parking and amazing views. Pricing is very reasonable especially with the U.S. dollar/Canadian exchange rate. They have our repeat business as we have stayed here a number of times over the years.

love staying at the Blue Horizon. Clean. Friendly. Convenient location. View can be a fabulous bonus! We have stayed before and we will stay again. Walkable distance to concerts, games or conventions or a short cab ride. It's one of our favorite places to stay.

Very comfortable accommodations! The staff was super friendly. The rooms were quite spacious. The balcony had beautiful views. The location was convenient for many fun things to see in the city. Unfortunately, the a/c had an issue in one of our rooms; it wasn't keeping the room cool, but we were checking out the following day, so I didn't make an issue about it. I forgot to mention it to the mgmt when we checked out. I would still recommend this hotel!

Great location. Big rooms. Comfortable beds. Awesome views. Great service. Front desk staff friendly and helpful. Would stay again. Pillows not very comfortable, but ok. Very clean room and bathroom. Staying on a high floor is worth the view.

Overall, a very nice hotel! I'd consider staying again if I was aiming to stay in the heart of downtown Vancouver (That said, at no fault of the hotel, I probably wouldn't touch downtown Vancouver with a 10 foot pole if I had a car with me due to crazy traffic, crazy drivers, no left turn lanes, red light runners, parking fees, etc...) Things I liked: Quick check in, on site parking garage (albeit expensive - but hey it's downtown), modern lobby, pretty modern room, nice linens, clean bathroom, spotless shower, shampoo/conditioner, nice hand-soap, Nespresso machine, clean, relatively quiet. The fan actually kept the bathroom from steaming which was super impressive! Things I did not like: Curtains did not cover/overlap which let in light from all of the restaurant signs and street lights up and down the street (main complaint and reason for 4 stars). Trivial stuff not affecting my rating that shouldn't affect your decision either: Sink had a hairline crack (this was hardly noticeable and did not really detract from anything or functionality). Garage was plastered with "avoid break ins" posters - not a fault of the hotel and a result of being downtown in a major city, but I can't say it gave me the warm and fuzzies. Taxes... felt like there were a lot but not the hotel's fault.

There are really no negatives with this hotel. The location cannot be beat, there is shopping and dozens of restaurants right outside the door including a 24 hour bakery/cafe. The service is friendly, rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. The spa was great after walking around all day. Views are amazing but for a real treat you can upgrade to the executive king room on the 30th floor which has incredible views that you can enjoy from the couch! I have stayed here several times and will definitely be back.

This location was really convenient. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. I especially loved the fact there was a kettle in the room so that I could make tea in the morning! The staff were really helpful from the moment I arrived to my final departure. They provided flexibility in terms of check-out which really made my trip go smoothly.

Great hotel, superbly located. Best value. Rooms are large, most with views (ask for a higher floor) with balconies. Beds and linens are very comfortable and good quality. My husband and i have been using this hotel for "staycations" in the city for over 10 years and will continue to do so.
