What an extraordinary home, restored to perfection by Lynn and Michael. From the warm welcome and amazing view from our room terrace to the home-made cookies and delicious coffee, we were well taken care of. They no longer serve breakfast but the house is located near many good breakfast spots. A ''must have'' experience!

My best friend Gilly has already put a great review on here about the lovely Bee and Thistle and the wonderful hosts Lynn and Michael. There couldn't be a better home from home to stay in Vancouver. By the time we left we felt like we were leaving relatives as Lynn and Michael had done everything possible to make us...

My best friend Amanda and I have returned from an incredible 15 night stay at the Bee and Thistle on Parker Street. I did all my research, read the reviews and booked it! We were so very lucky in that we stayed in the Garden Retreat (not yet on the website but a one bed studio with full kitchen and...

I cannot think of a more perfect place to stay if you want a welcoming home from which to explore downtown Vancouver. The Bee and Thistle is located in the heart of the city, in walking distance to the excellent restaurants of Commercial Street. Bring or rent a bike and you can easily explore everything downtown has to offer from...

My wife and I got away for a few days to beautiful Vancouver, BC and stayed at the Bee and Thistle. It was wonderful - easily one of the nicest places we've stayed. The room was spacious and quite grand. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was nicely appointed. The hosts were gracious and attentive. And the little additions...

We stayed here for two nights in August. We were upgraded to the Ivy Room which was a stunning room; our son was in Molly's room which was also beautifully furnished. The B&B is near Commercial Drive and so a car or public transport is needed to reach downtown. Lynn and Michael were wonderful hosts: Lynn gave us a map...

Finishing up our holiday, my wife found this quaint little B&B. It is located in a residential neighborhood off Commercial Drive (which turns out to be a highlighted visitors spot). While our hosts, Michael and Lynn greeted us, they left us (in good hands) to visit their grand kids. Their able assistants Jo(?) and Sierra provided excellent service when called...

We enjoyed our stay here for six nights in the "Lion's Loft" suite at the top of the building. As others have stated, although the hosts no longer serve breakfast, we had a full kitchen and were easily able to buy a few things to add to what was left for us. We had a very comfortable bed, a sitting...

My wife and I recently stayed for a few nights while celebrating our "babymoon". This guest house was just what we were looking for. Friendly host and a comfortable room in a beautiful home. Loved the location as well. Quiet street with lots of good restaurants close by within walking distance. Stocked fridge in the room with some good treats...

Visiting from Australia, our friends took Florence and we stayed in Lions Loft for 3 days. Having travelled for near 2 months and stayed in some 20 locations, the B & T was as good, if not better, than any. Home with character, spotlessly clean and well appointed. On this trip we experimented with accom outside of the larger cities,...

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighbourhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
