I regularly stay at this hotel when I am in the city for work and really enjoy it.

Beds are comfortable, showers have great water pressure. Rooms are clean and exactly what I need in terms of space. The breakfast bag they include has a granola bar, fruit cup, water bottle and cookie... it always gets me through my long day of meetings and is very appreciated! Wifi works great, even for Zoom. Location is walking distance to everything you need, and also feels safe (especially important as a solo female traveller). There are always metered parking spots available out front. The price is beyond reasonable and the reason why I will stay here again and again.

The best part of my experience is always the staff... they are so pleasant and kind! I really appreciate them!

This review is long due as I stayed in Riviera a while ago from October 31 till end of November 2020. However, it is now that I can provide the attention and care needed to honour the promise I made to rate my stay. My stay included two weeks of quarantine as well. The room was spacious with lots of sunlight filtering through the glass windows that covered the one side of the suite. The view was beautiful. Especially rain drops on the glass windows inspired me a lot. The bed was super comfortable and on arrival the suite was clean. The staff was super attentive to all my requests and responded with great care to all my needs during my stay. I truly appreciate the staff. And thank them. I would definitely say staff is the highlight of my stay here as my experience with each one of them was positive and caring. To be honest I felt safe in the hotel space. The room I was staying in was mostly quiet which I greatly appreciated. Just the occasional morning wake up calls by sea gulls which was greatly appreciated too. The location of this hotel is fantastic. After my quarantine was completed, I was so happy to just walk to all the amenities, shops, try different delicacies, go to the beach and enjoy a cup of coffee in a nice coffee shop.

The only thing I felt uncomfortable with and that is what has stopped me from rating them 5 stars or otherwise I would have rated them, was that on my arrival I found out that to use the stove in my suite I would have to pay 15/day extra. I confirmed with the reception staff that whether it was declared in the adverstisement as I booked via booking.com. I found out it was not declared. To be honest, initially I felt quite uncomfortable with the new information of paying extra each day. It truly felt like an important information was withheld. The very reason why I booked a suite with a kitchenette was to cook my own meals during quarantine and it is also about principles such as honesty. Truly I felt conflicted at that moment. Lets be real, deep down we all respect people and businesses that are honest. If the hotel management can review the way they share the information, I can say for sure , it will only work to their own advantage in the long run.

Booked a room at Riviera for my quarantine after returning from overseas and was very pleased with the room I was to spend two weeks in!

The room was clean, always heated, beds were comfy and kitchen/fridge was a great size for storing/cooking food for two weeks.
Reception staff were extremely helpful with every request and very attentive with putting calls through to my room to help me organize a luggage delivery.

I recommend this hotel for short or long stays or to quarantine! 10/10

Generally I thought I'd give this property a better rating however from the moment we walked in there were issues.
We arrived early as we had to leave our other hotel at 11am and they said they can store our bags until check in time for $5.00 per bag. This was strike one.

We booked an apartment, the room seemed clean enough unfortunately this was not the case. The room mustn't have been vacuumed from previous (how many?) customers. There were chunks of long dark hair on the floor in between the beds (im blonde) and crumbs of food, and when i accidentally dropped my wedding ring under the bed i wished i never seen the dirt i saw.
We also found items belonging to previous customers in the room.

There was no stop in our bath, but there was a plug which was 3 sizes too small for the hole and as a result we couldnt take a bath.

The so called continental breakfast are cookies in a jar on a shelf facing reception, and with the ongoing virus this is totally unhygienic and unacceptable.

In our "apartment" there was a full kitchen or so we thought, apparently in the small print somewhere it says you have to pay $25 A NIGHT to use the cooker which is an absolute robbery.

There's no plates or bowls in the kitchen either so you cant really call it a kitchen.

If you leave any dirty cups or anything dirty in the kitchen upon check out they charge you additional $15 for cleaning it up.

We were aware there was a construction taking place across the road, however we didnt realise that their windows are so old you might as well have them open with the noise coming into the room. The room itself is also so incredibly hot we couldnt sleep the 1st night and had to use a "fan" that was in the corner of the room.

This isn't a "hotel" this is a dirty trap for people who are looking to stay on budget.

We stayed here for 4 nights and in my opinion it was too long. The rooms were generally clean, beds were also clean and comfy. However, they won't clean your room daily and they blamed it on COVID. As result, it was not as comfortable and it's awkward to ask the front desk for new towels, etc. I ended up asking for a clean and they did a very mediocre job and did not clean all the rooms nor refilled our rooms with new soap, coffee, etc. The bathroom was OLD, there was mold all over the baseboard, the ceiling of the shower was cracked. It definitely needs a reno or even a bath fitter! The air condition is in the bedroom so the entire apartment can still be hot especially if you are sleeping in the living room. Some of the staff were also very silly. Pressing every single button on the elevator trying to make a competition to see if they can open each emergency exit door before the elevator closed leaving the guest waiting for the elevator. Then making an excuse that they were "checking" to see if the hallway was clean! Such a joke!

The good news is the evening receptionist was VERY nice and would go out of her way to make you feel comfortable. It's also located in the heart of Korean/Japan town. Therefore, you have many good restaurants to choose from and the heart of the shopping district is a 5 min walk away.

Overall, I would only recommend this hotel for 1 to 2 nights bc they don't provide cleaning services. Hopefully they will renovate the bathrooms in the near future.

The Riviera hotel management was able to make my birthday so pleasant by taking the extra steps neccessary to ensure a quality stay and reservation under a short time frame and served me and my friend well with an excellent suite that felt as though you lived like a king for very good value. My stay was excellent and I slept like a baby on cloud 9 in their queen bed . The view was excellent with great architectural sights and close to many amenities

Awesome dontown location! The hotel is walking distance to most of the interesting places. The hotel is clean, comfy and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious with great views. Bed and pillows are comfy and soft. You have to let the staff know if you need house cleaning by informing them or displaying the notice outside your room. The kitchen has basic utensils, fridge, stove , microwave, kettle, toaster and a coffee maker. My room on the 10th floor had amazing views. There is no complimentary breakfast or an attached restaurant and hence the room with a kitchenette was helpful. But there are a lot of multi cuisine restaurants in walking distance. The hotel also has car rentals. They were even super helpful to let me borrow their umbrella on a rainy day.Check in and check out formalities are quick. The receipt and security deposit of 150 is refunded in 24 hours, ( Yet to receive mine as I just checked out and posting this review from the airport!) There is only one elevator but that didn't pose a problem. Overall, I highly recommend this clean, safe hotel. Thanks to team Riviera ( Adam, Maria, Nidhi and others ) for making our stay a comfortable and enjoyable one.

Awful...surprises when you check in
* pay extra for parking not mentioned when reservation was made ($30/night)
* no A/C, weather is nice and cool at night so "open your balcony window" was the advise I was given)
* breakfast is in the lobby, a tiny box of a place
* everything is additional charge, cleaning of kitchen is additional charge ($15)
* they will do a damage check after you leave and will send bill afterwards.

DO NOT RECOMMEND, spend a little more and get a whole lot more.

And this is me writing this within 15 minutes of checking in.

Good
Front desk staff - she was extremely friendly and helpful. Even when the elevator was broken, she tried to get it fixed right away. Under such a pressure, she remained calm and friendly to unhappy guests
Location - the hotel is really central to everything. We hardly needed to drive to get to places.

Bad
The entire hotel is quite small and narrow and only one elevator to share with the entire hotel guests. When the elevator broke down, it made me worried about the safety and did not know what to do if it remained broken for a long time.
With the COVID safety in mind, I was not happy to hear a young guest openly telling the front desk person that he came all the way from Calgary to party. A few other groups were also young travellers ready to go dancing. The hotel really is not a family friendly place
Room layout was very awkward and very old.

What is there for parking and how much does it cost?
Answer from Jamie L
Courtenay, Canada
Thank you for your interest in Hotel Riviera on Robson for your stay in Vancouver, we are delighted to answer your request for more information on our parking. The parking is at the price of 25$ per night. Please present yourself at reception first, so we can register your vehicle in our private, covered and secured parking and indicate the entry gate and give you the access. You can park temporary in our outside parking at the back of the hotel. The parking outside is very convenient for large and tall vehicles, otherwise we advise our guest to park their car underground. Please do not leave any personal belongings in your vehicle. We would be happy to store your luggage any time you need; our reception is open 24/7 and is ready to assist. Check-in time to access to your room is 3pm. The little plus at Hotel Riviera on Robson: You can park in our parking before check-in time and you can leave the car as long as you wish on your departure day. We look forward to welcome you soon, best regards, The front desk

Is there any transportation from the airport to hotel
Answer from Velma S
Johannesburg, South Africa52 contributions12 helpful votes
Agree with sur52, grap a taxi which is almost outside the front door of the hotel and go to Vancouver City Centre Station, from there take the Skytrain. It is relative short drive with the taxi and will cost you less than CAD10. A previous time we took the taxi to the airport and had to pay almost CAD45.
