Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

The Exchange Hotel Vancouver garners high praise for its exceptional staff, with a particular shoutout to the friendly concierge and efficient reception. Nestled in a prime location, the hotel is a stone's throw from Vancouver's top sights and amenities. Guests enjoy immaculate rooms and commend the hotel's cleanliness.
Despite some noting the rooms can be snug and temperature fluctuations, the overall comfort and modernity shine through. The value proposition is generally appreciated, though additional fees are a sticking point for some. Modern amenities and a chic atmosphere round out the hotel's allure.

Detailed Reviews
We decided to come back to stay with EXchange Hotel for its accommodating staff and decorated rooms. This year I was amazed how spacious our connecting-rooms would be for our family! (RM1022 - RM1023) Both our boys had their separate queen beds and me and my husband actually had a room for ourselves! Again, we will definitely recommend the EXchange to our friends with families who would want to stay in Vancouver especially in Downtown where location for this property is close to the Pacific centre mall, Robson Street and most of the best resturants in Vancouver. With Covid-19 this year, this property certainly follows health protocols with Sanitizing stations in both lobbys, it is very accommodating safe when I arrived after 11pm and the revolving doors were both locked for security reasons, night staff were on hand to welcome us in and it is very assuring that guest are only allowed in the guest corridors and not any one else. I feel much safe even at these pandemic times.

We enjoyed our time at this hotel! We stayed in the deluxe king room, it was spacious enough and had all the necessitied required for a very comfortable stay. I particularly liked that the room had hardwood floors. The bathroom is spacious and the L'Occitane toiletries was a very nice touch. The room was clean but unfortunately due to current circumstances, daily cleaning wasn't possible but the team at reception were super friendly and sent fresh towels or cups, etc. as required. The team was always helpful and accommodating. It was surprisingly quiet being situated right in the heart of downtown and slept wonderfully each evening. Complimentary parking was a great value add and the breakfasts at Hydra was exceptional. We were able to walk anywhere and everywhere as most attractions were within walking distance. I would most definitely be staying here again on a future trip to Vancity!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I stayed at the Exchange for work for 4 nights. I booked the Superior King room, which was supposedly the nicest room under the suite. This is partly a historical building and my room had the original windows -- they did nothing to shield noise from the street and as a result, I didn't sleep all night. The mattress doesn't have a slip which is rarely seen these days in high-end hotels. The finishing of the rooms was mediocre and appeared to have been done in a rush.
At a glance, the rooms are nice.
Everything seemed very clean and staff was extremely nice. The front desk attempted to improve my sleep by moving me to a higher floor of the hotel and was apologetical about the inconvenience.
I would book here again, but would request a specific room type.

The EXchange Hotel is an aesthetically pleasing boutique hotel in a phenomenal, accessible location of downtown Vancouver. We were thrilled with how advanced and quick the elevators were, delighted with the heated floors of the marble bathrooms, and how pleasant the Concierge and Valet were, greeting each guest upon arrival and departure. We would like to offer appreciation to your superb employee at Hydra Café, Chris, whose professionalism manifested in multiple ways. Chris possesses a gracious and kind communication style with thoughtful patience, wonderful commitment to anticipating unanticipated needs, and has passion for the highest standards of luxurious, detailed service. Every guest who encounters Chris is in for a treat! In addition, we would like to thank Sheena and Allan, of whom we appreciated their eloquent manner, readiness to assist, and great service. It reflects so well on EXchange Hotel and their excellent decisions about personnel. We look forward to our return!

+1
This was our first time staying at EXchange. Up until now it hasn't been in budget when we've wanted to go. And because the rates are so good right now (due to Covid) we decided to splurge a bit on a Specialty Suite.
Room spacious, but smaller than many suites we've stayed in elsewhere. The private patio somewhat makes up for it, however, the lack of a table and chairs and the loud air conditioning (or whatever it is) unit out there kind of takes away from the enjoyment.
The king bed and bedding were exquisite. Really enjoyed the bed. A padded headboard would be a nice addition, but otherwise awesome.
We loved having a record player and a pretty decent built in sound system that we were able to connect our phones to as well.
Small wet bar was a nice touch, and we did receive a very lovely and delicious bottle of sparkling rose to our room for our special occasion.
Bathroom very nice with a huge shower, water closet and soaker tub. Just have to be mindful of the step up/down if you've been enjoying that wet bar too much. That advice goes for patio access too :)
Parking here is usually valet and a bit pricey, but free, self parking was an option this time. Parking is levels 6 and 7 below and takes a bit to get in or out. Not a deal breaker though.
The Dividend Lounge was closed due to Covid and elevator capacity very limited for same reason. Wasn't a problem for us as it wasn't too busy and they have more than 1 elevator.
Overall we were glad to have tried out a new property that is usually not in budget, especially during peak season. Hopefully when everything is back to normal they will give BC residents some deals again...and not just in the off season!

Our family stayed for a couple of nights to visit friends in Vancouver and it was the perfect location for getting around town by car, and parking was free. Lots to see and do in the downtown core and some great food trucks not far away. Loved the fact that the floors were not carpeted, and furniture minimal which made us feel safer in COVID times, knowing that all these hard surfaces could be easily cleaned. Very modern vibe to the hotel.

First off we had a one bed king room. It was so unbelievably tiny we both couldnt walk around without bumping into each other. The platform bed frame also is the dumbest choice for such a small space. My partner kept smashing his shins on the corners walking around to the other side of the bed. Ridiculous.
One thing I usually love about a decent hotel is room service. Well dont expect it to be good here. It was shocking. No table. No condiments. Brought up on cafeteria like trays in takeout containers??? What kind of environment friendly practice is this?? Cmon. There were two employees who brought up the food. So if there was more food, theyd have 3??
The food was incredibly overpriced (as usual for room service) but more so because of the lack of quality and presentation. I had a beet salad with 3 small cut up beets. Some micro greens sprinkled on top. I think that was around 15. Wtf. I also wanted water. They didnt bring any ice for my diet coke. No salt, pepper, ketchup for fries. The burger my partner had was bland. Total for two salads, burger and fries? $115!!! Yikes. Also a very limited selection if you're vegan or vegetarian. I could only order some fries and a salad. Oh yah, not cool in this day and age in a downtown hotel of Vancouver.
So no. Just no. Go somewhere else. With proper room service and some wiggle space in the room that doesnt injure you for just trying to get into bed. No.

Hello Lucy B, Thank you for letting us know about your experience during your stay. We appreciate your comments. To clarify a few of your concerns, as a LEED Platinum Hotel, we take our role in being environmentally sound very seriously. Our In-Room dining service uses biodegradable palm boxes and cutlery. This is stated on our in-room tablet, along with pictures of each available on our menu and how it is served. We had two of our colleagues attend to your room as one was being trained and we find practical training to be the best way of learning. Our menu items are chosen to give our guests an alternative should they want to stay in their room to dine. We have many dining options on site and will provide alternate options if needed. We apologize for not meeting your expectations during your stay, we wish you continued happy travels.

Space is beautiful. The staff were very attentive and there were very clear directions given from the time you enter the building until you reach a room. The rooms were modern and very comfortable with high end linens.
The overall feel of the hotel is that of luxury and there are many areas on each floor where you can sit down and even use a bar area which unfortunately is closed due to Covid. Our room was a king bed and was small but with the sitting areas available outside of the room it would be quite comfortable.
We had a brunch at the Hydra restaurant which was a really good meal and definitely well priced. The staff were very friendly here as well and very attentive and the overall atmosphere in this restaurant was very hi end and I would love to return for dinner.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to any of my friends for a weekend away or a destination if you have to attend to business in Vancouver. It’s central location Put it close to anything you need from the water to downtown Robson
I must stay in downtown Vancouver and good value for your money

I stayed at this hotel in January 2019. At that time I was impressed with the service, room and the many extras offered. Because of the great experience, I had no doubts about booking the hotel again.
Unfortunately, this hotel has been unable to keep up the high standards. Front desk staff were often providing unfriendly, substandard service. Every day cleaning had to be negotiated, with staff often pushing back. And almost every day items had not been replaced, along with cleaning that left much to be desired. One day when we returned after a long day enjoying Vancouver, the room had not been cleaned at all - despite negotiating the cleaning in the morning.
While the hotel still offers a nice location, efficient elevator service, in-room L'occitane bathroom amenities, Illy coffee pods along with real milk, the coffee machine was leaking and bathroom amenities sometimes not supplied at all. The king size bed took up almost the entire hotel room, making it challenging to make the room function. Facing the street below, the room was noisy with little if any window soundproofing.
It is understandable that the pandemic has made it challenging to operate a hotel, but it is disappointing to see how fast this property has gone downhill.

Thank you 326ht for choosing to stay at the EXchange Hotel and so sorry to hear that you left disappointed. I will feedback your comments to the relevant management to see what happened in regards to the staff service. Offering exceptional staff service is something we really pride ourselves on, so I am disappointed to hear that we failed to win you over on your recent stay. Housekeeping service is on request currently and this is to keep the entire Hotel community safe. With that being said, it is not acceptable that we missed your tidy service, which again I will address with the relevant management. I understand your frustrations, but please let me assure you that this is not the usual practise at the EXchange Hotel. I hope to welcome you back to the hotel soon and completely win you over.

Amazing place to stay! Highly recommended. The manager Cathy was so nice and she was so helpful. the best thing I experienced is the attentiveness of the room attendant, the filipina chamber maid sadly I forgot her name was so helpful to me, she did a full service on my room when I requested it and made sure that I am comfortable in my room.

I’m sorry. I don’t remember. It was in July 2023 and I really didn’t check. We picked that hotel because of its proximity to the cruise ship warf. It is close, but not a walkable distance for me. We got an Uber.
No app. They send you a text and you hold your phone up to a location on the door. Easy
Please contact the Front Desk at your convenience, they will be delighted to assist you.
Sincerely,
EXchange Hotel
