I loved this place. It was comfortable, clean and friendly. Patrick was an amazing host. He was a wealth of knowledge and bakes amazing muffins. We stayed for a week and I was really sad to leave. I highly recommend this place. Very central. I will be staying here again. xx

Excellent guest house, nicely decorated, extremely safe, at first I was a little concerned that there are no lockers in the dorm room (only one) however soon I realized that there are no need for this as only good crowds stays here and everyone is very friendly. I love cats and there are three friendly cats that kept me company... More

We just returned from our fourth stay at the Urban Hideaway.. each time has been great. Patrick went out of his way to make us feel comfortable - I especially appreciated that he took the time to introduce guests to each other, which broke the ice for sure. We have stayed at here a few times over the years. It... More

This accommodation is the perfect, central location for exploring Vancouver. Patrick was extremely helpful and kind, providing us with tips for our days in Vancouver and helpful hints to make the most of our time. Really nice, cosy accommodation, would highly recommend.

I booked the wrong date and made a mistake and this was taken care of professionally and I was extended a warm welcome. Hot coffee on my arrival and a gorgeous loft room with swans on my bed and tea and coffee in the room, comfortable bed and tv in my room and ensuite. I love cats and there is... More

We were actually a bit surprised to find out that this is a Guesthouse and not a Hostel as we booked it in advance and it was definitely advertised as a hostel. Anyway it was a nice surprise. Patrick and Eva were both very nice and helpfull. Patrick even took the time to discuss the rest of our B.C. trip... More

I've stayed in thousands of places around the world and the front desk guy was super rude, I've never felt so uncomfortable staying somewhere. He also gave me the wrong information about getting there from the airport, the taxi was twice as much as he said and the train would have been so easy. He didn't know anything about the... More

Thanks to Eva and Patrick for an excellent home in Vancouver. The guesthouse is a tiny oasis in the middle of downtown Vancouver, a short walk to pretty much everything (including the cruise ship terminal!) Rooms are cozy and decorated with random touches, including a bookshelf with left-behind reading material. All have fans which helped to keep cool during an... More

A perfect choice to stay for a couple of days prior to our departure on our Alaskan cruise. Patrick gave me very easy directions from the Skytrain, approximately 5-10 minutes away from the stop, a plus. Upon arrival, he greeted us and gave us the interesting history of the building. We gave him our itinerary and he and Morgane drew... More

We came to stay at the guesthouse in June of this year, because we were going to see SHANIA TWAIN at Rogers Arena. My sister, my grandparents and I stayed here. Let me tell you something, it was amazing. Both the concert and the guesthouse. From the first time we walked in the door, Patrick was just so warming, and... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
