5 of us stayed here around New Years, 2011 and it was great! We rented the garden suite and the loft which gave us lots of room. The kitchens were well equipped for all the cooking we did, the beach is a couple minutes walk away, the hot tub is fantastic, We didn't see the owners the whole 48 hours we were there. It is relaxing, there are no "rules' posted, the beds are very comfortable, there are washers and dryers to use, fireplaces, great water pressure, and so affordable!!! We are booked in for 3 nights in July and will be taking our teenage nephew with us this time. We can't wait to be back at the Sea Star!

We stayed at the Sea Star Beach Retreat in Sept. It was perfect. It was clean and had a kitchen, living room, jacuzzi tub with a shower and a off to the side bedroom and yes a fireplace. The owners welcomed us and then we rarely saw them which was great (gave us our own space). We used the hot tub in the back a couple of times, nice and hot. The price was amazing as we checked every place in town and this was the best deal for the location. If we could have, we would have been there longer...but we will be back! A must stay at!

Spent three nights in the main suite, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, fully functional kitchen and a generous living room sitting area. Very clean and in great condition. A very short walk to the beach and a short drive to tofino and to Pacific rim national park. Book far in advance as the suites book up early. There are many other places to stay in Tofino but you will be hard pressed to find a better accommodation for the very reasonable price charged. It is easy to tell that the owners ( who also live on the premises) take great pride in their suites. Highly recommended and our next trip we will be sure to stay here again. A very enjoyable stay.

We stayed here after seeing positive reviews and feedback from friends. The location is great-across from North Chesterman. The suite is spacious and had everything we needed. The poor for cleanliness is not due to actual housekeeping, as the suite was tidy and clean, but due to an odor of mould/mildew. Nobody else has mentioned this on reviews and the owner was surprised and accommodating- offered for us to stay somewhere else and to give our money back if we were too uncomfortable to stay. We stayed, but experienced allergies that I have only felt cleaning my grandparents basement.

We stayed in main suite, greeted with 'money upfront' from cherylinne. Musty smell on entering suite, no views from bedroom widows as looking out on interior buildings, no laundry facilities, sockets in kitchen failed, no big deal but when we reported same the response was 'what'. On the positive beautiful Chesterman beach across the road, 10 mins drive to Tofino , suite was clean and spacious. Paid by card and cash, receipt only given for card which stated under new management.
Lots of accommodation in this area, would have made such a difference to have pleasant staff.

Just happened on sea Star by accident! So glad we did. We stayed in the Studio and loved it. Extremely comfy and perfect for two. A bit different the way it is laid out but very thoughtfully done. Clean, private and very close to the beach and Tofino. Great hosts, although you never see them if you don't want to? Well stocked little kitchenette and lovely soaker tub. We'll be back.

We liked to stay there despite there was no familiar atmosphere...the garden suite was very large but the outdoor landscape is simply trees...things were a bit unorganized, but with no direct impact in your stay. Without breakfast it is hard to rate it as a good value for money...not too expensive neither a bargain...location is ok, just a few minutes by car of Tofino. The beach is within walking distance.

My husband and I stayed in the garden suite for three nights and loved it! It is exactly as advertised. We felt as though we were at the cottage. The 2 person jetted tub was awesome. It is across the street from Chesterman's beach and a 5 minute drive to downtown Tofino. Our room had a kitchen with everything we needed including a dishwasher. No stove or oven however there was a burner and pots so we could still cook pasta. We asked for a frying pan and were given one right away. There was a washer and dryer and even some detergent! We loved having the B.B.Q. and hot tub outside. The couch was very comfortable. The fireplace was a great bonus. The only thing I didn't like was the bed. We prefere a softer bed and are spoiled with a down duvet at home. The bed wasn't enough to keep us from coming back though. Would definately return to Sea Star. It's like having a private apartment...perfect for honeymooners and families!

I planned our anniversary getaway to Tofino and booked Sea Star Beach Retreat. Within minutes of arriving we were met by our very enthusiastic host, Santo. He took us to the Garden Suite and showed us where everything was and how it worked. The room was very clean but I did notice a musty smell when we first entered. It seemed better after opening the doors. It’s a huge room with a small kitchen area. We didn’t actually cook but I did notice a 2 burner hotplate under the counter and a nice large microwave we were supplied with decaf and regular coffee. The refrigerator is very small but big enough for snacks and drinks. The 4 poster bed was very comfortable. There was also a nice gas fireplace which we used several times when it got chilly out and it worked well. There was a large tv but we never even turned it on. I wish the lighting had been better as the room seemed especially dark. It would also be nice to have a nightstand on both sides of the bed with a lamp. There was only one on one side. I used a chair on my side so I had somewhere to put my book and tissues. Also, the bed is very high and at 5 ‘ it was a bit of a climb for me. We did not use the jacuzzi. There is a washer and dryer which would be nice to use if you stayed longer than a couple of days. We did enjoy the private patio but it could use a little sprucing up. The location is great and we loved walking to the beautiful sandy the beach in just a couple of minutes. It’s also not a long drive to town where we enjoyed picking from many very good restaurants. Don’t miss the Tofitian Cafe for a great cup of coffee and amazing cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I would have to say that even though it has some negatives the Sea Star is a good value for the money. Any of the hotels in the area that close to the water would probably be at least twice as much.

The suite has a whirlpool a set-a side bed room with sufficient wardrobe space, a large seating area, a kitchen, a washing machine and its own patio/terrace. You may use the outside jacuzzi and it has sufficient confort to stay for a couple of days.

We provide self catering short term vacation rental suites for those travelling to Tofino. We are a short 2 minute walk across the lane and through the rainforest to North Chesterman's Beach and just a 7 minute drive into town.
