The Ocean Village Resort garners praise for its friendly staff and prime beach location, with guests often appreciating the west coast ambiance of the clean, well-equipped cabins. While the service and amenities, including BBQs and firepits, receive positive remarks, some visitors call attention to occasional lapses in service and maintenance concerns.
The rooms are cozy but have had some security and odor complaints. Although the resort's atmosphere and cleanliness earn rave reviews, the value proposition is questioned by guests who find the pricing steep, especially with the noted yearly increases.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for four nights in a beachfront studio and just loved it! The cabin was cute, updated, and clean. Check in was an absolute breeze and I hope they keep this procedure post-COVID. Communication with staff was via text and it was always prompt and friendly. We had an issue with our screen door and a super friendly maintenance person was there within 5 minutes taking care of it.
The location can't be beat being on Mackenzie Beach and walking distance to amenities like the bakery, Tacofina, etc. We loved not being right in heart of Tofino. The grounds are very well maintained are hand sanitizer dispensers on the garbage cans were brilliant and appreciated. The Seawench toiletries were excellent.
We loved that this place was dog friendly and our dog had a great time. On the grounds, everyone had their dogs on leash and picked up after them. The beach is public and there were lots of dogs off leash there.
Yoga on the beach was lovely and we enjoyed visiting the tidepools every day.
One suggestion would be oven mitts in the kitchen :-)
We hope to return!

we would definitely recommend Ocean Village to our family and friends. we had a fantastic view of the ocean in the upper studio, the room was warm even though it was super windy and cold outside. And the full kitchen was a bonus since we saved money on going out for food (we bought grocery from the local grocery store). And the team was so friendly and easy going you immediately feel a sense of relaxation the moment you get there. Although our only suggestion is that we would like to have had a better idea of when housekeeping would be coming around.

Came to Tofino amid the COVID-19 crisis right when booking opened again. I had been to Ocean Village when I was younger and had many fond memories of playing in the salal-byrinth. I drove up from Vancouver and was in awe of the improvements. The rooms are simple yet serene, all with great views of Mackenzie Beach and the sunset. We stayed in an upper studio with the beach 20 paces away. The room seemed to be recently renovated, with a fully functional stove and microwave with high speed wifi, and the washrooms were clean and spacious. We did Yoga on the beach, Ocean Village with a wonderful instructor, recommended by the staff, and did SUP on the calm water every day. There are also lots of small hikes nearby and you can find Middle Beach from the resort which is a hidden gem if you're looking for a little adventure! I found that the resort was family-oriented, but the spacing of the cabins provided privacy for those, including me, looking to just relax and have wine by the beach. The staff treated us like gold, as I find most people in Tofino do, and helped us a lot with our adventures into Tofino. Overall, if you're looking for the most pristine location in Tofino with beautiful rooms and views, I don't see a better alternative! 5/5

We visited this resort a few years ago as one of our first family vacation getaways with our kids. The resort itself was nice. We enjoyed the pool and the grounds were lovely. The problem I had was our cabin was infested with silverfish. I was expecting the typical wood bug as it is an outdoor cabin, but the presence of silverfish really put a damper on our trip. Rather than leaving feeling relaxed and refreshed, we left having to shake out all of our clothes and luggage to make sure we weren’t bringing any of these infesting bugs home with us. When I reported this to the front desk, their response was that they would put our cabin on the list to be fumigated. I asked to speak with a manager and was given a card with contact information. Upon returning home from our “vacation” I contacted the manager regarding the concerns about our stay and didn’t hear back. A few days later I was sent a questionnaire to fill out about my stay, so I filled it out with regards to my experience, and again did not hear back. Instead, I was sent a link to trip advisor to rate my stay. At the time, I did not go any further with my complaint, as I prefer to try and deal with this type of thing personally rather than online for everyone to see, but the lack of customer care really frustrated me. We love Tofino and have been back multiple times since, but I am very hesitant to ever stay at this place again due to the combination of infesting bugs and lack of customer care. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up to check your room carefully if you decide to stay here, so you do not end up bringing any extra “friends” back home with you.

My partner and I booked with Ocean Village post labour day long weekend. The rates were still competitive and high per night, and it was the most expensive resort we have ever booked, we were hesitant on the price but I'd seen the cabins before during a previous trip to Tofino and I know I just really wanted to wakeup to the beach.
Our entire experience was exceptional - start to finish. It was worth every penny, the customer service exceed our expectations, and the location / amenities provided were unmatched. Having immediate access to Mackenzie Beach was not only convenient but was less busy then the other beaches in Tofino. It also gets an amazing sunset at night!
We will certainly be back next year, thank you Ocean Village team!

We have stayed at Ocean Village many, many times since the mid 80's. Always have a great visit. This year they have made everything about the visit from cleanliness, online check in, ability to book the pool and hot tub for 1 hour for each cabin, friendly staff when you do interact in person (not that often) We had a week of all kinds of weather which is how we like it. At the risk of never being able to book a cabin again, I recommend staying here. We must have been the only people who did not bring a dog to the resort. We love dogs, just don't own one so it was nice to see so many happy dogs having fun on the beach.

Ocean Village was a wonderful place for a quick vacation. The units were clearly well sanitized, extremely clean, and the location is amazing. i have a small dog and loved the extra touches - when I got to the unit there was a dog bowl and a dog treat, but the best was that there is a hose / shower area at the entrance to the beach for washing sandy paws! Its such a great place, will definitely stay again!

This is a terrific place to vacation with family. The beach is accessible and safe. Staff is friendly and welcoming. The property is very well-maintained and the cabins cleverly designed to provide you with many comforts in a small space. We love the pool, availability of sports/play equipment, board games and free hot chocolate and rhino coffee. Of course, we'll be back!

This place is not worth the price. The “fully equipped kitchen” had a bar fridge. This meant we had to buy $5 bags of ice to keep our drinks cold. We arrived after staying at a gorgeous resort down the road (for the same price) that did have a fully equipped kitchen, including paper towels, cream for coffee, salt, pepper, ice in the freezer and a complimentary bottle of wine, chocolates and free s’more kits every night. It was like night and day.
However the view and beach are gorgeous and, if the price would have reflected the very basic accommodation and amenities, it would be an ok place to stay....aside from the silverfish in the bathroom. :(

Response from Dena Cole, General Manager at Ocean Village Resort
Responded 26 Aug 2020
Hi Tigermama999, Yes you are correct about the bar fridge in the upper studios, just like it states in the description on our website. There has been a few items temporarily removed from the cabins do to safety in covid times...we do state in our welcome info that we have all the items you mentioned, upon request that will be brought to your room. It sounds like the other resort would be the best fit for your next west coast holiday. All the best Dena

Lovely weekend retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Would for sure recommend this place to family and friends. Clean, cute, and courteous, loved being able to have a fire on the beach, and fall asleep to the sound of the waves

We do have a three night min in summer, however there maybe a two night gap:-)
Hi Mary, we have TV's in our Garden Suites only:-)
Ocean Village is about 4km from downtown Tofino. Definitely within walking distance if you are into a nice long walk. There is a separate walking path that parallels the road so it is a safe and relatively flat route into town. This is a very well used path so you would be safe traveling on it alone. If you are into bike riding as well you could ride on this same path (paved) and you could also ride on the parts of the brand new trail that is open between Tofino & Ucluelet. This is a crushed gravel path that parallels the road and is pretty flat, It does dip a bit further into the woods once in a while so the road is not always visible from the path though so if you are concerned about your safety this may not be one you would want to do alone. Enjoy your stay as the West Coast is gorgeous and you may hit some amazing weather in September.
