Nestled on the shores of Tofino, Long Beach Lodge Resort receives high marks for its picturesque beachfront location and the convenience it offers. While guests laud the friendly staff and the spotless, well-equipped rooms boasting ocean views, there are occasional mentions of slow service, particularly in the dining area.
The resort's amenities, including a spa and pet-friendly options, contribute to its inviting atmosphere, although opinions on value for money show a divide. Despite its charms, some guests suggest the rooms could benefit from modern updates.

Detailed Reviews
We went to the west coast to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary as we were married out there. It was a lovely weekend and the LBLR was a good choice to stay with our dogs. The room is comfortable and easily accessible on the ground level so we were not having to walk up and down stairs or take elevators with the dogs. The restaurant (we only ate breakfasts there) was good value for money and has great beach views. I think the upcoming closure for maintenance etc. will be good as the rooms and eating area is showing a bit of wear, but still a great spot to stay.

Thank you, belated 25th anniversary wishes, I am pleased your dogs came too! We are constantly upgrading and renovating our resort, this winter more hotel rooms and cottages are being done. Our believe is that the resort must always look, opening day fresh. In fact, including all the extra emanates, the resort has vastly improved, since our opening in 2002. Best wishes, Tim Hackett Owner

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a 14 day road-trip from Ireland and all I can say is that it was absolutely amazing. The staff were all so welcoming, friendly and attentive. We stayed in room 313 which was on the top floor overlooking the beach with a balcony. Truth be told, the hotel was so good we didn’t venture far over the 3 days, instead opting to just “relax” at the hotel walking the beach or sitting outside at the gas fires taking in the ambience and the surfers catching the waves. The food and service in the restaurant was amazing, I would even go so far to say it was the best food we’ve had in a long time at a hotel! If having food at the hotel, make sure you book a table at the restaurant before 6pm and maybe even arrive a little early. They will not reserve the window seats, but to get the best view of the sunset over the pacific - trust me, it’s where you want to be sitting. Cocktails were also very good. If getting a snack during the day you can get it at the Surf Club which is a few steps from the main building. After dinner we just retired to the bedroom with the gas fires going, patio doors open and enjoying a bottle of wine while listening to the waves crash on the beach. We didn’t do breakfast at the hotel any of the mornings as we wanted something “light” opting instead for the delights from the cafe & bakery Tofitian just a few minutes up the road. As an “experience”, it was hands down one of the best hotels I’ve visited in Canada/US. The team should be very proud.

We had a wonderful stay here for a quick mid-week getaway. I gave it 4 stars knowing there are some other very high end resorts in the area but if cost is a consideration at all then this is your best choice. LBL offers an amazing location, amazing views and the amenities are nice, if not over the top.
If you can, spring for the full ocean view. It's worth it! We sat and enjoyed the view for hours both in the room and when temperatures permitted, on the balcony.
The main restaurant has an approachable menu and the prices are reasonable for an upscale resort. The staff in the restaurant were all excellent and attentive.
The one odd thing I have to point out is the huge picture window looking into the bathroom. In some situations this could be seen as "romantic" but if you value your privacy you won't feel very comfortable doing your business in this space. The window is fogged but you can clearly see what people are doing in there. The toilet itself is barely concealed and I found myself cowering behind the partial wall trying not to stick out. If someone turns on the bathroom light in the night it basically lights up the entire suite. Their fix for this is a little lantern on the bedside you can use to avoid turning on the lights but it seems like a silly workaround. We laughed and called it the "window to your soul" but some may not think it's trivial.
Still on the subject of privacy, our balcony window looking out onto the beach area with people coming and going had only blackout curtains and no sheer curtains for the daytime. With such an amazing view it seems obvious that people will want a way to let the light and the view in while obscuring other's view back into the suite. To management, these are easy fixes: install some sheer curtains on the main window and some kind of blind in the bathroom for those who don't care to be on display.
These minor annoyances aside, we had a very special couple of days here and would recommend it to anyone. We will be back and I hope you try it too (particularly if you're young, attractive and want to check your partner out in the shower!)

Thank you for your interesting review, I am really pleased that you had a wonderful visit. Tofino offers a variety of accommodation with beachfront summer prices ranging from $600 to $2000 a night! We are very fortunate to be located, front and centre, on such a beautiful beach. Regarding the obscure bathroom window, it is designed to let in light to an interior bathroom. We previously had wooden shutters that could filter the light, however they transmitted all bathroom sounds! With the glass and bathroom door this is no longer an issue. The toilet is behind a wall and cannot be observed from the room. All rooms have sheers as well as the black out curtains, we will check your room incase they are somehow missing. We would love to welcome you back again, we have many rooms that do not have a "window to your soul!" Best wishes, Tim Hackett Owner

The long beach lodge is sceneric, the staff and its waiters and waitresses , housekeepers and spa staff are exceptional. My husband and I stayed over the snowy weather, we used the spa facilities, ate every brunch dinner and snacks for several days on a waterfront room expense. The bad weather came in fast so we asked for a one night deal and we were pathetically refused by the supervisors how sad for a long term client relationship for one night for safety reasons. We ended up booking somewhere else in town who would accommodate us given the terrible weather conditions, extremely bad business decisions on their part.
Additionally their is only one staff member for the whole resort to monitor you …your rooms their merchandise or their bar/ restaurant at night ..beware

I have followed up your comments with staff. You were offered a 15% discount on your room for another night, which you refused. The front desk agent was up in the great room monetarily when you arrived at the desk, he heard you and returned immediately to assist you. Unlike most Tofino resorts, we have staff on 24 hours a day to assist guests and provide security. There was no reason to be rude to our staff as you were, they were all just attempting to assist you. Tim Hackett founder

Good for ocean view, local surfers, hippies, families with small crying children and dogs. This is not a luxury resort. It is overrun by local surfers, picnickers, barking dogs, loud people, screaming children and guest families that should really be at a Holiday Inn.
Bed was very comfortable and room was well taken care of by Oscar. Small shower and vanity in the bathroom was not good. We had to take turns using the bathroom. Also turning the light on in the bathroom at night was disturbing to the one sleeping due to the bright light shining through the clear glass between the two rooms. You need to provide shutters or a roller shade to make it dark at night and for privacy. Trying to sleep with loud people and barking dogs outside our window and no air conditioning was difficult. We couldn't keep the door open due to the noise. The very WORST part of staying here was The Great Room. We were warned each time we entered that they were very busy even though many of the tables were empty. It took 30 min to get a drink and 1 hour to get our meals, no explanations or apologies, just ignored except for providing water. People were playing cards and games at their dining tables because it was taking a ridiculous amount of time to get served. This slow service and kiddieland was completely unacceptable. When I spoke to the front desk congenially about the slow meal service, I was told to go somewhere else to eat. HORRIBLE service!!!
I saw several nasty comments from the management of this hotel online when someone criticized the hotel, so I expect I will get one too! This is not the same hotel we visited and loved several years ago. What a shame! You should just turn it into a recreation center for the locals.

You then won't be surprised by my response, insulting other guests is just plain ignorant, shame on you. We have front gate security and only guests staying at the lodge or dining with us are permitted. In the summer time we love to welcome our guests who come with children and their four legged family members. We ask guests to make reservations for the dining room , so that they do not have to wait, obviously you did not. Tables are vacant because they are been held for people with reservations. Guests with reservations arrive every 15 minutes. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your visit, for some reason your experience is at polar opposites from the vast majority of our guests who love to visit, as evidenced by our guest feedback on TripAdvisor and other platforms. Obviously you are not a match for our resort, hopefully you can find somewhere else more suitable, perhaps a place with-out families and their pups, loving their summer fun. Best wishes, Tim Hackett Owner

Enjoyed our stay ! From check-in to check-out everyone we dealt with was a cheer and professional. We had one of the Cottages with 2 bed and 2 bathroom and a private hot tub on the patio. Definitely worth it , the unit os fully setup with a kitchen and utensils needed. Very roomy , heated floors in the master bathroom and both bathrooms come with a tub.
Restaurant was amazing from ambience, professionalism, friendliness amd flavour!

LBL does not disappoint. From the clear communications, very clean and well stocked rooms, no abundance of chemical scents (it just smelled clean), inviting great room, varied and delicious menus (we ate here multiple times during our stay and enjoyed every meal), awesome servers, a great experience given the care that’s taken around the property to make a stay here enjoyable, HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Being able to just walk outside to the beach anytime we wanted was perfect. We will definitely be back.

We have stayed before for our family vacation, and this experience was fantastic as always. The advance contact to confirm details, suggestions made to accommodate our unique needs, and continual updates about the road situation due to the Cameron Lake fire were timely, informative, and reassuring.
Despite the Stage 3 water restrictions at the time, the unit was clean, and the amenities were available at a nearly normal level, with very reasonable asks made of guests to conserve water. The Great Room accommodated our dinner reservations to include extended family staying at other places, and the on-site Surf Club was perfect for rentals and for our family's needs (i.e. a surf lesson for some, boogie boards for others).
We love LBL and even though they were facing some tough circumstances with the road closures and water/drought conditions, the staff were still amazing and the customer service continued to shine. This stellar customer service and the high quality of their facilities is worth the slightly higher price. Family that were staying at other nearby locations on Cox Bay wished they had made the choice to stay at LBL. At 21 years old, the units and property are well maintained and not showing their age at all. We have stayed in cabins, and in the lodge rooms, and both are worth every penny. We are already planning our next trip to Tofino to stay at LBL again, just having trouble deciding whether it should be for storm watching or surfing! So many fun experiences, not enough vacation time :)

Thank you for your 5-Star review, your comments are greatly appreciated. We believe that a property should be maintained to the standard of "opening day fresh" meaning that the property must be maintained and upgraded constantly. The work is never ending for our excellent maintenance department, guests will see improvements with every visit.. We would love to welcome you back again and as you mention , there is quite a change with the seasons, all special in their own way. Best wishes, Tim Hackett Owner

We had a Standard Pet Friendly beach front room with Patio doors that opened up to a walkway (very convenient for "watering the little doggie") to great seating areas with fire pits that were lit in the late afternoon/evening and a short walk to wonderfull Cox Bay Beach. Our room was supplied with 2 stainless steel bowls, a pet mat and a couple of pet cookies.
There was easy access to our room and elevators via a breezeway that bypassed the reception area.
Staff was very friendly and helpfull both in person and email. Based on compareables in the area I'd say it was Good Value. In my opinon the best in the area outside the Wickaninnish Inn which is significantly more expensive.
We enjoyed a very nice fine dining experience in the great room one evening. The food was great, not cheap but good value we feel.

In summary we had an informal reunion of friends of 1970s:
• Long Beach Lodge was a perfect venue: 3 well maintained private cottages in close proximity to friends (and the beach), clean, well appointed, each cottage provided a full kitchen providing for personalized diet for those with restrictions
• queries/ issues were dealt with quickly
• pleasant friendly approachable and competent staff
• Lodge location provided easy and quick access to local sights: beach, Meares Island, park, etc. Beach only a few steps from the lodge
• Maxeen was very helpful in ensuring our reunion went off perfectly. We would like to acknowledge and thank her.
We will recommend Long Beach Lodget o family & friends

KD Air and Pacific Coastal fly from YVR SOUTH. To Tofino.
