Nestled on the beachfront with breathtaking ocean views, the Best Western Plus Tin Wis Resort is celebrated by numerous travelers for its prime location near Tofino's outdoor activities. Guests have called out the spacious and pristine rooms, although there have been some concerns mentioned about smoke odors and cleaning standards. While the varied breakfast options and room amenities are popular, the upkeep and use of facilities by non-guests have been noted as areas for improvement.
Opinions on value vary; the hotel's restaurant prices are considered reasonable by some, yet others find the dining experience overpriced and unremarkable. The friendly staff often earn rave reviews, but slow service has been a point of contention for a few. Despite the inviting rooms, the restaurant's ambience is perceived as lacking by several reviewers.

The hotel's location right on the beach is of course unbeatable for water lovers; all rooms have a balcony with a view of the sea - here the sun sets in the evening, which you can really enjoy from the balcony; 2-story fitness room with good equipment; a renovation project seems to be underway throughout the entire building - most of the rooms were therefore (as far as we could see) in good condition, clean and well-kept (at least that's true for our room); many guests from B.C. themselves - many bring their dogs with them, as the ground floor rooms with an open terrace facing the garden/beach are ideal for this
Unfortunately, during the peak travel season in July, the breakfast room was closed because it was being renovated; the replacement room was in a small, almost windowless room above the reception, which had the charm of a youth hostel - and so was the very manageable breakfast; there was also no restaurant, so you were forced to leave the hotel/grounds to eat - there were better/more professional options at the neighboring campsite; rooms overall much smaller than the example photos on the internet would have you believe; The fridge is very loud - the microwave had a mind of its own; the furniture was very plain and made of plastic - the great balconies with their location and view would have deserved a little better equipment; some of the outdoor showers were being renovated or turned off to save water; the whirlpool was in use - but because the showers were closed, by the afternoon at the latest it was so dirty with sand that you didn't want to go in anymore... overall, definitely a good mid-range hotel in a great location, which could have been significantly improved with a little better equipment and comfort - maybe the impression will change once the restaurant area is open again and the renovations are complete?!
Overall, more 4 than 3 points.

Lovely hotel. Well appointed rooms. Amazing location right next to a beautiful beach, 5 mins from Tofino. Lots of restaurants nearby - recommend Wildside Grill (10 min walk) & Li'l Ronnie's Beachside Bbq (5 min walk) - both serving excellent food (see my reviews ). Temporary breakfast room at the moment, but this is fine.

The wow factor of this hotel is it's beachside location and views from the room. - Great parking avaliability. - Friendly, helpful, attentive and effective staff. - Good check-in service. - Great views from the balcony or terrace in rooms. - Comfortable beds - very good nights sleep. - Good decorative order. - Clean.
We had some initial issues with our first room - which had a kitchenette - although visibly clean, there was a strong smell of cooking oil which was very unpleasant. However, when this was brought to the attention of staff we were able to change rooms and the second room was much better.
- Excellent service in sorting the problem quickly and effectively.
Areas for development: - Breakfast was good in terms of food choice on the self-serve buffet. But it was frustrating having to ask for everything to be replenished constantly, from cutlery and crockery to food and drink. Staff were quick to respond, but I felt I was being a nuisance having to ask for so many things all of the time. It would be better if staff could be more attentive to this. - The restaurant was lacking in atmosphere and was expensive for mediocre food. More of a casual diner but with restaurant prices. - You could make much more of the view/ location in the restaurant.

The view was amazing even though the weather did not cooperate! We could hear and see the breakers from our balcony and all the balconies faced seaward. Located on the beaches of the west coast of Vancouver Island, this is the very best, Best Western we have stayed in. It is the best of any hotel we have stayed in. The off season provided a serve yourself breakfast which was fresh and the hot breakfasts were tasty and renewed continually. We could see a dining room so assumed that in season this would also be available. The hotel amenities ran to a lovely hot tub just outside our unit and a very well appointed gym. The hotel is First Nations owned and operated and not an hour went by without a friendly smile and greeting from any of the staff. Any queries were answered quickly and the reception staff went above and beyond what we were expecting. It was also pet friendly!! We love dogs and although we do not have one at the moment, it was a joy to see so many on the beech. Dogs on hotel property are required to be leashed. The only drawback to our stay was that restaurants in the area are few on the off season and some are quite pricey but then I guess in a tourist area such as Tofino or Long Beach that is to be expected.

Dear Kirsten, Thank you for sharing your fantastic experience at our hotel. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the amazing view, even though the weather wasn't ideal. It's wonderful that you found our hotel to be the best Best Western and the best hotel overall that you've stayed in. We're delighted that you appreciated the serve-yourself breakfast and the tasty hot breakfast options. The mention of the dining room is noted, and we hope you'll have the opportunity to experience it during your next visit! It's great to hear that you enjoyed the amenities, including the hot tub and well-appointed gym. We're especially proud to be First Nations owned and operated, and your kind words about our friendly staff and their service mean a lot. We also appreciate your understanding regarding the availability of restaurants in the off-season, which can be a challenge in tourist areas. We hope that, despite this, you had a memorable stay, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future with our new on-site restaurant opening this Fall! Warm regards,

Great location on the beach. Very quiet stay. However, limited range at breakfast, with items running out and slow to be replenished. Staff were not happy in their work! You are asked to clear your plates, cutlery, etc yourself into trays/bins provided. That’s ok but tables are left uncleaned - my husband resorted to taking a bottle of disinfectant and some napkins to clean a table for us.

We booked a labor day weekend 4 nights family trip to Tofino on very short notice, and this was the only beach hotel with vacancies – we now know why.
The location is perfect, on the beach with outlying rocks that break the waves. Perfect for all watersports except for surfing, which is possible close by at Chesterman or Long Beach.
At check-in we were informed, and had to sign a waiver, that there is no room service of any kind, but we could come and pick up fresh towels if needed. Without any cleaning utensils provided in the room, the family bathroom situation become “interesting” after the second day. The room already smelled strongly of mold and wet carpet when we arrived, which had us rush to buy a can of Febreze in town, which we almost used up.
The breakfast was poor, average fast food quality at best, with the orange juice watered down and the yoghurt machine broken all mornings. Motel level at best.
We have been to other Best Western hotels before, which provided a much better overall experience at less than 50% of the $450/night prepaid rate we were charged. Why it is advertised as Best Western Plus is beyond me, as BW Minus would be a much more appropriate designation. Next time we’ll book early, but elsewhere.

Don't be fooled by the Best Western name, this beachfront resort is wonderful! The location is fantastic--away from the crowded town of Tofino, yet close enough to be there within 10 minutes by car and about 1/4mile off the highway. Espresso at Tofitian Cafe, Tacofino, Chocolate Tofino & other food & sundries are within walking distance. Take your bikes, surfboard, kite, beach toys and hiking boots. There is so much to do & see in the area! The rooms all have a view of McKenzie Beach. Walking paths from each building lead you easily to the beach (no stairs or rocks or hills). The resort has a lovely lawn that faces the beach with several picnic tables & areas of Adirondack chairs & firepits as well as at least one barbecue area. The gym & hot tub are lovely. Our large room had a king bed that was very comfortable & was equipped like a condo complete with a refrigerator (no freezer), coffee pot, microwave, sink, dishes, pans, etc.

What a VIEW!!!! We recently stayed at this perfect family and dog friendly hotel. Our stay was 5 days long and we were in a room with a King-sized bed, and pull out couch. We were 3 adults and the room was a perfect. We loved being on the ground floor and had a great view of the beach and ocean. The room was clean and tastefully decorated with local art and a really comfortable bed. My only negative comment would be that when our room was cleaned (which we only requested for one time during the middle of our stay) it wasn’t cleaned very well. No top up of the coffee cups and cream and sugar and the room didn’t seem like it was cleaned. The other amazing benefit of this great place is the breakfast that is included. Breakfast is buffet style at Brown’s Social House. They offer juices, coffee and tea and usually a main course with eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffles or pancakes. The food was presented well and was tasty. We enjoyed that at the front desk area, they provided a complimentary hot drink area. The grounds are well maintained and the beach is very clean….actually every beach in Tofino and Ucluelet were exceptionally well cared for. The Hotel has a place where you can rent (for a fee) kayaks, and paddle boats. The sauna on site was closed for repairs. I think they also have a hot tub however, we did not use it. Such a great place to stay. We had an amazing time here and we would return here again.

Our sister's getaway was wonderful. The beds are comfortable, the water is good to drink from the tap and very clean and tasty, even the shower water felt really nice on my skin. The highlight of all was the room's ocean view with a patio door and window that open to the fresh air and sounds of the waves. The short walk across the lawn to the beach was another benefit that we enjoyed, we welcomed the feeling of tranquility this provided.

Booked our stay in a Ground-Floor Beach room many months ago. When I phoned a week before, I was told there was a water problem and there would be no Hot Tub available. When I arrived, they Desk gave me a room on the 7th floor, which of course, I had to fight with them about. Turned out, they had the wrong last name, even though I had spelt out my last name for them. When we finally got into our Beach room, it had a beautiful view of the ocean, with availability to walk right out onto the beach, yay! Everything else about our stay was very blah. When we asked the Front Desk for 2 Complimentary waters (due to the Water-Quality issue), we were directed to buy them from the machines. The full breakfast included was a nice thought, but more like a CAMPING EXPERIENCE, with everything on paper plates and in a dingy room with no view or person walking around offering coffee or anything. Other than the view being beautiful, it was like staying in a Motel 6. Towels old and toiletries the same old cheap ones they use for every Best Western. Also hardly any outlets or plug ins in the room. Tiny fridge and Microwave shoved in the hallway towards the bathroom. Closet very tiny and awkward. Dresser in the room had a surface with no plugins and Magnet to keep the front door open (for unloading belongings in & out of the hotel) was not working..

Dear R R, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent stay with us. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered during your visit, and we appreciate your honesty as it helps us improve our services. This is certainly not the experience we want our guests to have, and we will investigate this matter to prevent such errors in the future. We understand your disappointment with the unavailability of the hot tub and the water-quality issue, which should have been handled more proactively. Your comments about the breakfast experience are duly noted, and we will work to enhance the overall dining experience for our guests. There are bike racks & a bike rental shop on site. The hotel staff can answer about a shuttle as I don't recall one. Town is very close though so if you have bikes, you can ride there. And, there is an awesome paved trail that goes from Tofino to Ucluelet that passes by several of the other beaches along the way.
Hello!
There most certainly is, we are right next to Lil' Ronnies BBQ and The General Store, as well as Tacofino, Wildside Grill and The Tofitian Cafe are a short walk away. Should you be looking for something fancier, we are 3 km from downtown Tofino which has a variety of dine in restaraunts.
Hope you have a great stay!
Hello,
The hot tub hours are currently 10am - 10pm, but our subject to change. Also, please ensure you visit our website to view the new restrictions for hot tub due to the pandemic.
