I have stayed at this resort a few times over the years and I love it! The location is stunning as it is right on the beach and you can actually hear the waves and smell the ocean in your room. The accommodation itself was luxurious and had everything we needed (kitchen is surprisingly stocked with everything you may need and we felt right at home). We stayed a total of 5 nights which allowed for real rest and rejuvenation. Overall the stay was amazing; staff are helpful and things run smoothly and I appreciate that staff give you your space. The only downside for our stay is related to the current restrictions associated with Covid, being that our room was not cleaned during our stay. While I appreciate the reality of the situation and despite the staff being responsive when we needed to ask for towels or coffee refills, this was noticed. Actually, I almost forgot and should add that even though I booked our room in Jan or Feb turns out that we were given a room furthest from the ocean and right beside the main office. I do recall staff telling me at the time of booking that room location cannot be guaranteed but given I booked almost 6 months in advance, I was quite disappointed to be assigned the room furthest from the ocean. I was able to let this go however given the amazing location and accomodation and I would definitely return!

The Resort is a Gated Oceanfront Complex of privately owned apartments, sited before the small town of Tofino. We rented a 1 bedroom ground level apartment and it was very luxurious, spacious, clean and cozy. Laundry in a Cupboard handy, large bathroom and bedroom and very functional kitchen with large domestic frig. Gate Keypad Code advised of before arrival to enable access into the grounds. Car parking is open air and random, as space at arrival allows. The Reception Building houses pull along wagons for guests to load up with their luggage to proceed with it down the pathways to their accommodation at the rear. At that point, in the rain, we were glad we had sacrificed a sea view (perhaps) in upstairs accommodation for a ground level rental. The external wooden stairwells looked formidable and daunting in the rain. With luggage. The property is fastidiously maintained with stunning gardens providing privacy. Guest access to the stunning beach is at the very end of the complex.
We bought groceries and food from the impressive Tofino Grocery Store and never ate out. It looked like an effort to do that, anywhere, during the time we stayed there.

We stayed at this resort a few years ago and always wanted to return. Finally we slipped away for two nights and enjoyed a magical time relaxing and taking in the scenery and beaches of Tofino and the comforts of our accommodation. This resort is smaller and more intimate offering guests decently sized suites and common areas to settle in quickly and relax. Suites are clean and well-equipped with everything you need, including coffee, tea and all the fixings. We love having a washer and drier which are supplied with the soap. The king-size bed was comfortable and there was plenty of closet space to hang are garments. A generous supply of towels, including blue striped ones for the beach, was appreciated, as were the makeup towel and plenty of toilet paper. We didn't need to ask for anything extra or worry about running out of supplies. We brought our dog and it was great to know we could leave him in the room when we went out for dinner. Some hotels and short-term rentals often do not allow this. Cox Bay is smaller than some of the other beaches but don't underestimate the fury of the sea, the interesting tidal pools, rugged volcanic rocks and plenty of space to walk. It is also a great place for surfing. We are already planning our next trip back in April.

This was the second time we have stayed at Cox Bay Beach Resort. The first time being in Jun 2020, so essentially both stays were during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The location is great, right on Cox Bay, but this year we saw that a campground has opened up on Cox Bay, just beside Long Beach Lodge, so this makes Cox Bay much busier than in past years. Cox Bay Beach Resort was a good place to stay, bed was comfy, room was clean, and tidy. The one thing that lacked were kitchen essentials, both stays we did not have basic kitchen utensils provided (ie. potatoes peeler). The resort claimed it was due to pandemic, which I understand to a degree during our first stay in 2020, but this year I felt they should have provided a fully stocked kitchen. When we asked for certain kitchen utensils, they did bring them to our room, but that took a while. For our second stay in 2021 we brought a lot of our own kitchen utensils…

My family of four just returned from Cox Bay Beach resort in Tofino. We were traveling with my sister and her family.

The location and the room layout of Cox Bay are wonderful. Cox Bay is an amazing beach for surfing and boogie boarding so it was a bonus to have that steps away from our room. We had a 1 bed unit and really liked the layout. It was spacious and the bathroom was nice. My sister had a 2bed with a loft and it was also wonderful.

Unfortunately, we were in room 1, the farthest away from the beach. Our room was on the main floor and was VERY dark. We felt trapped and like we were in a cave. Even if you sat on the patio, it was dark. We often went to my sister's room as it was brighter. Perhaps some landscaping and trimming of bushes and trees could brighten up these areas.

The resort is still following COVID restrictions and has a very bizarre way of booking the hot tub, gym and main hang out room. You can not book these rooms or amenities in advance, you need to show up at the desk (or call) and hope you're lucky. We were very frustrated many times as the hot tub had "just been booked" even though we had set a timer to return to the office. On another night, we tried to reserve the main room only to learn that we were given keys for the lookout room.

I would hope that the resort would consider ending these restrictions as the hot tub is outdoors and most people only need to stay for about 20min. Coming and going from the hot tub and the gym shouldn't be a problem. The main room would have be useful if we could have just popped in and out as well.

There are no other gathering places at the resort. It would be nice to have adirondack chairs and a fire pit or two by the main activities room or benches along the walkway so those staying in the "dark rooms" could sit in the sun a bit.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, the price was better than other resorts in Tofino but I do not think we will be returning.

My husband and I and our dog have enjoyed many stays at Cox Bay Resort. Our most recent one in July 2021 was absolutely outstanding and we enjoyed wonderful summer weather to boot. Our dog-friendly unit was spotless, comfortable and efficient. Even with Covid-19 restrictions still in play you could easily refers your linens and household items with Housekeeping staff as required. Everything was delivered to your door. BBQ and hot tub was available. Beach was as welcoming and scenic as ever. Great takeout eats at Long Beach Lodge and Pacific Sands resorts next door.

Beautiful location. Friendly staff. Had lovely meals at Long Beach Lodge next door. Only suggestions for improvement are replacing/adding to the living room and patio furniture, and upgrading the spotty WIFI. Furniture needs to be more functional/comfortable with ottomans, side tables and better lighting. It’s dark in the unit. Also, addition of plastic glasses would be A+ for taking to the beach. Overall though, a lovely stay.

We recently booked a trip for our 40 th wedding anniversary. We brought our dog and booked a pet friendly room. The room smelled awful upon arrival and the windows were all open, I’m guessing to air it out. Otherwise it looked like a wonderful room, excellent location close to the beach. When I went to shower, there was black dog hair all over the bath tub, curtain and floor. Obviously not my blonde non shedding dog. I was so disappointed, paying almost $ 400 a night I expected a lot more. When I spoke to the front desk, I’ll let the manager know, they said we can send someone to clean it. ( no kidding ) No contact from the manager. We will return to Tofino, but not this resort.

This place was the perfect combination of beautiful accommodations, laid back vibe, convenient location just steps off the beach, and friendly staff... if you need them! It's all pretty self sufficient (just remember to arrive with your groceries and beverages of choice if you get there in the evening, Tofino shuts down early!)
We felt really lucky to have such a special spot to stay and it was perfect for this type of vacation. We spent most of our time either on the beach (surfing, beach combing, etc) or popping in to town to look around (and eat!). Great to have options at the adjacent hotels on either side too, or further down the beach at the Wick.

This was my 2nd time at this resort. My gals pals and I were extremely disappointed! The location is beautiful and close to the beach.

But when we had a concern about our unit and mentioned to the front desk staff the staff member dismissed us (4 successful women over 45) with a response that we had an invalid concern.

I often visit Tofino, will no longer staying in Cox Bay. Due to the fact that our concern was not taken seriously!

Hi Chantel W, Thank you for your inquiry. We do have several units on our property that are designated "pet friendly". When bringing a dog along with you, please make sure you advise the Reservation Agent at the time of booking. We charge a one time $40.00 pet fee when bringing a dog into a pet friendly suite. Upon arrival, we will have placed a pet bundle inside the suite, containing a dog bed, bowl, towel and some baggies and biscuit. The best time of year to come to watch storms can be anywhere from late October to mid-March, with the "stormiest" months being December/January/February in my opinion. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions! Sincerely, Sarah Curtis Cox Bay Beach Resort Tofino, BC

Dear corash, Thank you for your inquiry. Our rooms are equipped with base board heating throughout the unit as well as in-floor heat in the bathrooms. We do not have air conditioning in any of our suites on the property. Being on the coast, we find that the lovely, refreshing ocean breeze does the perfect trick to cool the units in the summer months. We can offer oscillating fans upon request if required. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions! Sincerely, Sarah Curtis Cox Bay Beach Resort Tofino, BC
