It is said you don't find perfection this side of Heaven but St. Georges Hotel and hostess Saya come close. Tastefully decorated ( in the style of the late 1800's), spotlessly clean and breakfasts one normally would pay exorbitant prices for are all included in the very reasonable price. We live on a very busy street and came for a...

On the way home from our 5-week trip to Alaska last summer, we spent a day at Barkerville, a charming restored village that date back to the 1890s. We had camped during much of our trip, and we were hoping to find a B&B for the night, and by chance the St. George had one room left for that night,...

I booked two rooms because I was told that they didn't have one room that would accommodate my husband, granddaughter and me. They asked how old my granddaughter was (8 1/2) and proceeded to book two rooms. A week later I received an email saying that I had been aggressive with the desk clerk when booking and that they don't...

We stayed at the St. George Hotel for 2-nights in late May at the start of the tourist season ($161/night). The St. George is an 1890's 2-story wood-frame building located on the main street ~150 m from the village's front gate. There is little to distinguish it from the other buildings along the boardwalk other than the 2nd floor balcony...

Barkerville is just about the closest you can get to the real Ol' West and staying overnight at the St. George Hotel helps make the time-trip complete. Of course the rooms are small and the furnishings basic. But the breakfast is just the opposite: The food was almost gourmet and it was very nicely presented by our hostess, who rules...

We stayed in the St. George Hotel in Barkerville in late September and although the season was almost done the staff, ms. Saya & ms. Faith, were as enthousiastic as if the season just had started. Their services were great as was the hotel as a whole. If you want to experience a little last century mixed with 21 the...

We spent two nights in Barkerville at the St. George Hotel this August. Saya was a friendly and efficient hostess. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony of the hotel watching the visitors and "locals" - at this time of year there were not many bugs to worry about - no screens on anything. The bedroom worked for our family of...

I booked two nights at the St. George for my son and I and can't imagine a more authentic 'gold rush' experience. Lovely little room, unbelievably quiet sleep, authentic decor, delicious breakfast and the experience of waking up to the sound of draft horses grazing outside our window. We'll definitely be back!

This is a bed & breakfast smack dab in the middle of Barkerville. The rooms are tiny but nice and there is not much room for large luggage. #2 was a bit smaller than a 10 X 10 room and we shared the washroom facilities. Some of the other rooms do have on suite and are larger. There is a...

Again a group of us gals went for a get away. We had a great time visiting and eating. The sitting room was perfect for this. The breakfast and coffee service in the morning hit the spot. We were there for the Opening Gala for the Theatre Royal. Another great performance! There are many areas to look throughout the town....
