Had I written this on my arrival it would have been so much poorer a score ! We arrived about 7.30 in the evening it was very dark outside so not keen to go exploring we thought we could just stay in and start exploring the next day. The receptionist wasn’t the most pleasant when we asked about food or even a drink we were told there was the chateau next door which closed at 9 as did the bar Whiskey Jacks which was just down the road. Other than that we would need to get into the main area she shrugged with a very take it or leave it attitude not helpful or particularly pleasant. The hotel was very tired and needing updated! On a more positive note we found the beds to be very comfortable, there was plenty of towels and complimentary toiletries, teas and coffees. The pool area was ok and again plenty towel’s available. Would I go back to it no would I recommend no it’s too far away from main town. With very little around it! Whiskey Jacks is only a few minutes walk away which although closed at 9 they had a good menu and were very welcoming . We also tried the Chateau next to the Lobstick menu wasn’t to our taste but we tried it but again we wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t go back.

I’m giving Lobstick Lodge a solid 4. I came with very low expectations, as a fussy customer and having read all the negative reviews, but I was really pleasantly surprised. Yes, the decor is slightly dated, but our (deluxe) room was spacious and spotlessly clean. There is no air con, but we’re British so don’t expect it(!)- and the fan plus mosquito nets on the open windows meant it wasn’t too bad at night, even in the August heat. There was no housekeeping, but we’ve stayed in several bigger hotels on this trip, and most of them only offered housekeeping if requested the day before, so not that different here. The pool and hot tubs are also clean and we didn’t struggle to park even though the hotel was full. Probably the biggest drawback was that there was no cafe, bar or restaurant open on site. Generally, though, we enjoyed our stay.

The one positive thing they did was allowed us to check in early but we found the room was too hot, the hot tub was too crowded and the Elk Cafe was limited at 9am on a Saturday. Not a bad hotel for the price but not the best. It was average overall. It was ok

The hotel was drab, dingy and dated. It was the most expensive hotel we have stayed at so far in our trip through the Rockies and it was also the worst. The only reason this place can get away with charging so much is the location. Many of the rooms were obviously booked as part of a tour package ( if you aren’t on a tour then try to book somewhere else). As other reviewers have said, access is difficult if you have any kind of mobility problems, no air conditioning makes the rooms very stuffy. The room was not serviced for 3 days (supposedly because of Covid) but the overall standard of cleanliness did not show any kind of deep cleaning. We had to ask repeatedly for our garbage to be emptied. Toiletries and room supplies were of the cheapest quality and again not replaced daily. The staff seemed unmotivated and inexperienced. The only positive is the fact that the beds were comfortable. The final straw was the attempt to add an “eco tax” to the price we had agreed on with booking.com- if they were seriously concerned about the environment then perhaps they shouldn’t be allowing several tour coaches from idling their engines while unloading and loading outside of the hotel.

The hotel website states there is appropriate accessible handicap parking and an accessible lift. In fact the handicap parking spots are as far as possible from any entrance and there are zero accessible entrances. The front entrance has a wheelchair ramp leading to a staircase. The wheelchair lift for the stairs is ancient and out of order. My wife had to crawl up these front steps on hands and knees. Front desk staff confirm that this property is not accessible for mobility challenged,
Frankly, this is embarrassing as a Canadian to see. A large chain of hotels operating in one of Canada’s top international tourist destinations must do better!

Our third annual ski/ snowboard trip 3 generations my son and grandson. We loved the kitchen suite ability to make breakfast, lunches and some dinners. The outdoor hot tub and indoor pool ,sauna ( clean and good working condition) mandatory after a day on the mountain. Beds super comfortable hot shower very clean bathroom room. On site laundry was very helpful as well. Parking on site easy access to room. Staff very helpful and friendly. Minutes to centre of Jasper town enjoyed restaurants and shops. All around a very good casual hotel experience checked all the boxes for our family trip will be back next season

Checked in to this hotel as part of a group tour and was totally shocked - my comment to another member of the group was Cell Block H with carpet. Dark, dismal, not terribly clean and our assigned room for two nights had a full kitchen (which needs to undergo an electrical safety inspection) containing the main clothes hanging rail. A sitting room had been made at the expense of a small, poky bathroom and the bedroom needing updating, cleaning, decorating and a fresh carpet. No housekeeping available (presumably due to the local labour shortage), restaurant and coffee shop both closed so no onsite amenities with at least a 15-20 minute walk into central Jaspar. Thankfully we had done our research before leaving England and had earmarked a restaurant for that night's meal, which turned out to be relatively close by.
We were informed that breakfast would have to be taken in the next door hotel - thankfully we got in but many of our party were turned away as this hotel also had tour groups staying.
If you compare this hotel to, for example, a 3 star hotel we subsequently had the pleasure to stay at in Victoria, the Lobstick compares unfavourably.
We would neither recommend this hotel, or stay in it again even if part of a tour booking.

We stayed at the Lobstick over the Christmas break 2019 for a two night family ski trip.
Overall we gave it 4 out of 5. Not the Ritz but quite serviceable for our needs. Price was $ 130 plus taxes which is OK, not a bargain but this is high season Location is a little far from the main part of downtown, about a 20 minute walk (1.5 km). Check-In took quite a while (20 minutes). They were slam dunked: maximum staff (two) on duty but were hampered by number of work stations. Service was great. No problem with leaving our bags at the hotel while we skied our last day. The lady in the breakfast buffet remembered my preference for decaf' coffee after only one morning!
Halls / public spaces in the building are in good shape, no "stale hotel" smell. Our room #148 was more than adequate size for its two Queen beds. All services worked although like most hotels, there are nowhere near enough plugs in the walls. Carpet, paint etc looked like it had received some love. The bed was good, about normal for a good hotel. Bathroom was very good. Obviously a complete renovation, and recently done. No dust bunnies noted. Noise wasn't the concern for us it was for other reviewers. Especially considering the very full state of the hotel. There is no big loud rockin' bar. Internet (Shaw Open) worked quite well. Coffee maker thankfully was stocked with decaf'. Fridge was quiet.
Breakfast was really good. They have two buffet options, $14 for "cold" and $17.25 "hot". "Cold" is good with nice fresh porridge in addition to the usual dry cereals; however little protein (yoghurt but no cold meats, hard boiled eggs etc)
One issue was the hot tubs in the pool area. There are two, one in and one outside, small and probably adequate sized 99% of the time, but too full to get in our first night. Also the aerated jets in the indoor pool were kaput. Really could have used that extra massage effect after a day skiing! Room tips: Note that floor #1 at the Lobstick is actually a half basement. Rooms in the hall with the rooms numbered in the 100-teens are noisier: that is the main route to the pool.

I can comfortably say , this was the most worn down hotel I stayed in Canada . Room was dirty , pet stayed in the room before and the beds were twin and plus very uncomfortable . This play still remain in 90s . Unless an emergency , will never stay there again It was relatively low price but I rather Spend extra $50 a night and stay at a cleaner place

Stayed here for four days to celebrate christmas booked a room with kitchen, a bit outdated but fairly enough they have cookwares and kitchenwares, useful specially this winter to reheat food since central area is about 10-15 mins walk. Expecting some activities since it’s christmas and my kids are looking forward for something exciting but it’s like ghost town most of the shops are closed, hotel has no activity to offer., the pool is the only thing that lift the kids. Expecting more since it’s our first time to visit jasper..

Thank you for your inquiry. We do not currently have Air Conditioning in the rooms, and the average temperature for Jasper in the summer is anywhere from 20-30 degrees. We will do all we can to accommodate your needs to the best of our ability.
