We love this campground BUT we go in mid to late September after the summer rush. The sites could be more private but we park our van and use our EZ Up to provide some privacy and we always book in the FF loop right on the river. GORGEOUS River and hiking trail along the river. And magnificent Elk in...

We had one night and had a lovely stay! Whistlers was full, and we were directed here, but we were very happy. We had a site about 50m from the river, and hooked up to water and electricity in our 4 berth RV. We didn't have our own fire pit, but we had the option to use some near to...

Stayed 2 nights, good campsite. Reasonable privacy. Showers had good amount of hot water. Friendly staff. Elk in campground, and bugling heard. Nice walking path next to Athabaska River. Some below freezing nights in early September.

We stayed in Wapiti for one night and found it to be very peaceful and clean. The campsites in our loop were nicely spaced out. We had a large herd of Elk in our spot for a couple hours as we cooked and ate dinner. It was a wonderful experience. If you intend on taking a shower, I would suggest...

We went to Wapiti as Whistlers was full and we were on a last minute visit. So disappointed. The staff directed us into a site they said would accommodate a large unit such as our's. (326 Cougar 5th wheel) Firstly, the site was far too small to park our unit and pickup (unhooked), and then when trying to exit the...

Wapiti is one of the best campgrounds we went as a family. The sites are spacious and all have fire rings, the location is wonderful. It is not walking distance to the town of Jasper. We had many Elk Wapitis walking through the camp ground, which was amazing for the kids to see. Its located at Athabasca river with very...

Jasper is great, we love coming to Jasper every year. Wapiti is a nice camp ground, it is always full so your best to reserve a site and pay the extra money to get a site when you arrive even during the week! The camp ground needs some maintenance it is starting to get run down, but overall it is...

Had a great time camping here. The sound of the river was very relaxing. Showers were included with camping fees and they were very clean. Squirrels and caribou roamed freely through this campsite. Unsettled by the bear trap at the entrance but campsite was full so we felt that there was safety in numbers. We had a breathtaking view of...

unless you have a truck don't go there, the pot holes are big , no privacy between the tent sites. It does have fire wood and hot showers but that's it . Not too far from town but go with another camp site or rent a cabin.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On the shore of the Athabasca River, Wapiti campground has nice private sites for tenting and electrical hook up spots for RVs. However, what makes Wapiti unique is that it operates year-round, offering 362 sites in the summer, and 93 winter camping spots with amenities like hot showers, electricity and fire rings. Wapiti is a great campsite for family outings at any time of year. It’s close to town for supply runs or rainy day movies, and in the winter campers often get first crack at the slopes and cross country trails (because to really appreciate a campfire, you have to use it to thaw your ski boots!) ... more   less
