Wapiti Campground

3.8 Km From Jasper on Hwy 93, Jasper, Jasper National Park, Alberta T0E 1E0 Canada
Certificate of Excellence
On the shore of the Athabasca River, Wapiti campground has nice private sites for tenting and electrical hook up spots for RVs. However, what makes Wapiti unique is that it operates year-round, offering 362 sites in the summer, and 93 winter camping spots with amenities like hot showers, electricity and fire rings. Wapiti is a great campsite for family outings at any time of year. It’s close to town for supply runs or rainy day movies, and in the winter campers often get first crack at the slopes and cross country trails (because to really appreciate a campfire, you have to use it to thaw your ski boots!)

A lot of the sites were closed and no water was available. A bit difficult to get registered because the office was only open til 5:30. But the campground was neat and would likely be a lot better in the summer.

We stayed here from 13th to 15th October. The area for the “self-registration” campers was OK: enough space for our RV and the most important thing for the season: the washrooms were opened, warm and they have showers.
In addition, the views were amazing.

This has definitely been the best campsite on our trip (and one of the only ones open after Thanksgiving). It’s in a great location near Jasper just off Route 93 (Icefield’s Parkway). Plots do seem very close together compared to Tunnel Mountain II but still give some privacy. At

We stayed here from October 1, 2018 - October 5, 2018 in campsite FF18. We loved our site, and found that the whole campground was very well maintained. There were large washrooms that were easily accessible from pretty much every campsite. They did have some issues with their pi

Are we ok to get back to the site in the early hours of the morning (1:00 am)? We are planning some night photography and will need to be out until late but weren't sure if there are any rules about driving through the site in the early hours.
Good question, You can come and go from the campground as you wish. The gates are not locked. As long as you are quiet and do not disturb your neighbors there should be no problem at all.

Are the showers open in the winter? Is there a dump site and water fill station in the winter? And if all power sites are booked are we allowed to use a generator? Thanks Jody
Hi jody We tented so I'm not sure about power or generators or dumping but I'm pretty sure that the wapiti camping website will be able to help with the answers. I have tented there in January and the showers were on. Hope this helped. Happy camping Stacey

How late are we able to check in and is there firewood available on site? How late are we able to get wood?
We got there mid afternoon and there were lots of site left. But if you reserve you can get choice of site and they have to save it for you. Firewood is in a huge pile by showers and you can drive your car up and get some anytime.

Is there a spot to fill up with fresh water on site?
Staying at this campground for 3 nights august 2017.. wondering if there are restrictions about cooking on your site and washing up?
Great question, You may cook and wash up at your campsite. However, we ask that you pack up all of your food related items and store them away when you are away from your site. You will receive an information package when you arrive at the campground. This will include information regarding bear proofing your site. Happy Camping
