Just back from a 4 night stay at Grays - we camp in a 27ft travel trailer and had no problem getting into our beautiful, spotlessly clean, grassy spot. Surrounded on both sides with a hedge made of 3 variety of hydrangeas in full bloom. We had a great experience overall - very pleasant neighbors on all sides of us....

Thanks, so much, for the lovely review. Of course, we love that you enjoyed the natural beauty of the campground & surroundings. It's really nice to hear that you enjoyed being unplugged for your time here. Just my opinion, but I think it lowers the blood pressure when I can absorb the beauty around me & be present. Thanks for...

We found this place geographically charming, but don't kid yourself, it is VERY small, and the sites are closely packed together and on different levels. This is cute but daunting for big rigs and trailers, and it's basically impossible to walk from site to site w/out crossing another campsite. They also wedged a couple in that I sure wouldn't have...

Hello & thanks for your feedback about your stay. We were pleased that you liked our place enough to want to give us a 5 prior to being told that we are probably not the campground for you. I do wish your experience here was happier .We will now consider posting signs to keep vehicles off the beach, but as...

My husband and I have stayed in the Hillside Cottage every summer for the past 10 years. We look forward to our time there every year and this year stayed 2 weeks for the first time. Can't imagine why we did not do that before this year! It is a lovely cabin, well maintained, with gorgeous views from the porch...

Thanks, so much, for the wonderful review! I, too, believe that hillside & the grounds are a little slice of heaven. We are very happy that you enjoy the cottage, the view, the fire pit, & lastly, the people that work here. We think our staff go the extra mile at the campground, so it's lovely to hear from a...

writing as a senior citizen, we were surprised at the terrain of the campgrounds after looking at the pictures online. it looked much flatter than we found it to be. we had a site near the dumpster and it wasn't bad except for once in awhile when there was a down wind. they were good about having the dumpster emptied...

Thanks for your compliment on our beautiful flowers. We hear lovely comments from people about the flowers & natural beauty of our little spot. We appreciate all the lovely things people say each and every summer. Yes, Southport Island does have some hilly terrain. We do have a gradual incline from the shore to the campground although once in the...

We were lucky enough to book pretty last minute, as most of the sites were filled. Boothbay in general is amazingly beautiful, and Gray's have a lovely chunk of land! We had a really nice stay, but don't think we will return... it just wasn't what we expected. The site where we were, were Very small, and very tight. (Again,...

,Thanks for the positive feedback. You noted many lovely things about our campground & we do appreciate that. We were pleased that you really liked the lobster & that the children enjoyed the small beach, point, & pier. We are really glad that you found the grounds well maintained & the scenery beautiful! We do realize that the beach is...

This is an EXCELLENT facility... but they do pack the campers in here! We have a 40 ft. Toyhauler and found it hard to shimmy it into the location they had for us. They need to drop some trees to mame the sites more accessible for campers. That being said, once we did get established we couldn't have been happier....

Thanks, so much, for the great review. We are really pleased that you enjoyed our campground. You are definitely the largest camper that we take at 40 ft long. We have developed more sites over the last several years that will take up to your size & they get filled quickly. We try to advise people that our campground is...

Well... I must say I was a little nervous due to some of the comments. We had a wonderful stay!!! We stayed on "ON" site and were so happy with our beautiful view. It was quiet, clean and the people were very nice. As far as the price, we think it is fair. If we were to stay at a...

As many other reviewers have noted this place looks great at first glance. The pictures are pretty deceiving though, as there isn't really a beach and though the oceanfront section is very nice it was (even at the end of May) basically covered in what looked to be long-term RV rentals. So there's a nice dock, attractive house, trees...and then...

Aaron, Thanks for the flattering things you did say about our beautiful spot! I'd like to take a moment to address a few other things you mentioned. We do not have any long term seasonals at the ocean. They were renting a site, just as you were. We do say we offer tent & rv camping, simply because, we do....

We were initially going to stay the night here. We found the campground cute but pricey (at $59 for two tents and four people). We left our cooler in the campground and went in to explore town for a couple of hours. When we decided that we were going to head further north to Acadia Park, we headed down to...

Hello, Once again, I can only say that we are sorry you were not happy with a visitors fee & that you feel that 4.00 per person is high, & that you found the owner to be somehow rude. We did a lot of research before choosing Gray's and it was everything we hoped for. Our campsite was one of the wooded sites, very quiet with spectacular scenery. Beautiful little campground on the ocean with a variety of sites, some with spectacular views! Nice rv & tent sites available. We have kayaks to rent & lobsters to eat! Gray's has a nice clean bathhouse & a lovely natural setting campground. The people in the office are friendly & helpful & can direct you to hiking trails, or the Botanical Gardens, or into Boothbay Harbor. In the Harbor you will find boat trips, restaurants, ice cream, mini-golf, galleries & shops, just to name a few. This is a gem of a spot where ships sail by everyday, & where you can bring your coffee & watch the sunrise on the point every morning...A genuine Maine experience! ... more   less
