Our stay at bakers creek was absolutely lovely. From the second we checked in the staff was amazing. They helped us with our accommodations and had the cutest cafe in the main cabin to ensure we had all of our needs. The staff greeted us with a smile and treated us like we were friends of theirs. When we entered our room it was so cozy (and clean). The room had everything we needed to from beautiful dish wear, pots and pans sets to the local coffee bar they had set up for us. The team at bakers creek really pays attention to detail and thinks of everything.

The room was clean, fitness facility had everything we needed and more, sauna and steam room were very well kept.

Location was a quick drive to lake Louise ski resort, and we were provided wifi is a signal dead area. Unfortunately we couldn’t use the outdoor facility’s because of the cold but the fire place and ice rink felt like a movie.

Thanks for the amazing stay (and the coffee for the road!) we’ll be back again for sure!

Wow, thank you so much for the wonderful review, Molly! We’re absolutely thrilled to hear that you had such a fantastic experience at Baker’s Creek. It’s great to know that our staff made you feel right at home and that you enjoyed the cozy room, the amenities, and the little touches like the coffee bar. We're so glad you took advantage of the fitness facility, sauna, and steam room as well! We're sorry the weather didn’t allow for outdoor fun, but we're happy you were able to enjoy the property — it really does have that magical vibe here! We can’t wait to welcome you back and, of course, we’ll have the coffee ready for your next adventure! Thank you again for the kind words, and we look forward to seeing you soon! Sincerely, Baker Creek Guest Services

Since the take over by Basecamp this resort must now rate as the best value for money cabin stay in Alberta, if not Canada. Every aspect of our two night stay was met with exceptional service by the staff, nothing was ever too difficult, coupled with the first class pristine accommodation.
My high expectations are almost always met by disappointment with either service, comfort, cleanliness or location. However this well established, but relatively new to Basecamp, resort exceeded my expectations in all categories.
We eagerly anticipate a return visit.

Spend last weekend there and could not be more pleased with the experience. Love the campfire sites and bbqs near by, the cabins are equipped with clean shower and kitchen supplies and portable stove! Their coffee is delicious and we're definitely thinking of visiting again. Love that they're pet friendly!

Baker Creek by Basecamp is a collection of 19 log cabins plus traditional frontier-styled rooms. The property is situated near the intersection of Baker Creek and the Bow River on scenic route 1A. It’s a 15-minute drive to Lake Louise (ski hill, groceries), and 45 minutes from Banff.

This retreat is a beautiful and peaceful setting on a property that historically housed the workers who built Canada’s railroad along the Bow River between Banff and Lake Louise. Even today, a train rumbles along the nearby tracks (light sleepers beware and ask for a room or cabin further from the train tracks) The cabins are decorated in a traditional style - we stayed in cabin 1 that offers a wood stove, a modest kitchenette (with a dishwasher), a small bedroom with a Queen bed, as well as a loft with two I single beds…. It is ideal for a family with two kids as long as they are old enough (8+) to climb a steep ladder to access the loft area. This cabin provides a cozy and renovated bathroom….with premium soaps, shampoos and lotions from the Rocky Mountain Soap Co. (“Rocky”). These natural soaps and lotions are 5-star quality - amazing ! The property has a brand-new gym, as well as both a sauna and a steam room with men’s and women’s lockers/showers - very impressive.

Sadly, the management at this Basecamp property is disorganized and dysfunctional. Two simple requests were totally botched by management:

1. To clean our room in a 7-hour window (while we skied Lake Louise) between 9am-4pm…. Amazingly, when we returned from skiing (after advising the manager that we were out all day), our room/bed was not made nor the room cleaned (at $400+ per night)… After we returned at 4Pm and said “don’t bother,” they sent the cleaning crew in. This is really basic stuff… they had seven hours to clean!

2. A request to extend our departure by one hour from 11am to 12pm caused a series of miscommunications, two invasions of privacy, and (in the end) a total lack of empathy by the manager. After being advised that our room checkout was approved for a 12pm departure, a member of the cleaning crew showed up at 11:30am to clean - she had not gotten the memo of the 12pm checkout! Incredibly, a 2nd member of this crew showed up at 11:45am (while we were showering and packing), and he asked in an accusatory manner why we had not checked out? He gave an eye-roll when I told him we had been granted a 12pm check out (as if I were lying). We checked out at 11:59AM sharp to avoid added attitude… when I left, I told the manager on duty (January 25) what had happened - she showed very little empathy, did nothing, and never even followed up with an apology.

In summary this is a beautiful property spoiled by a dysfunctional manager and disorganized cleaning crew ——I hesitate to recommend it wholeheartedly — if you book this property, be prepared for sloppy management… Make sure to get any special requests (however simple) in writing.

We stayed in a "Superior Jacuzzi Suite." The website listed this room as having been newly renovated. That being said, it had been renovated in the style of a very lazy flip. Most notably, there was a range hood over the counter, but no outlet close enough to it to plug the hotplate in to, and the fan didn't even work. The drywall in the loft bathroom was lumpy and you could see where all the previous holes had been, and there was a plywood door that had just been glued shut.

The unit was heated by a gas fireplace (and a few old baseboard heaters) so the loft area was scorching hot and downstairs was cool. The ceiling fan in the loft just had an on/off wall switch and was turned so low that it basically did nothing. The "Jacuzzi" was a bathtub with air jets, which is a little deceptive to call a Jacuzzi since just one person can fit in it at a time. In addition to that, the hot and cold were reversed on the taps. Once finished with the tub, it randomly turned itself back on after some time. Scared the crap out of us. The room also had the normal hotel tropes of hiding all the power outlets behind furniture. It's 2024... people have things to plug in. Outside the room, there was a ski and luggage closet, but it couldn't be locked? I also found it pretty odd that there were notes in the washrooms that if you took the soap bottle, you would be charged $20.

Overall it was just a really annoying experience and I wouldn't go back again

We are saddened to see your review, Craig. As can be seen by all of our fantastic reviews, this is definitely not the norm. We do hope during your stay you approached our Guest Services? It is our job to ensure our guests are happy and satisfied, and we will do what we can to rectify issues as they occur. Whether it be complimentary upgrades or compensation for issues that arise. I do not see that you communicated your issues with the front desk? We are located in a remote area with a remote and rustic decor. We welcome guests to the our amazing property that has been a Lake Louise staple for 50 plus years. We are not for every traveler, so we do hope you find the perfect mountain getaway for your next adventure.

We rented the two bedroom cabin for 3 nights in July and I am just now getting to writing a review.
When we first walked into the cabin we noticed that it was very rustic to be expected but were expecting our cabin to be covid clean! The fan in the ceiling had an inch of dust on it, as well as the metal bear head over the fireplace. I would imagine that the cabin interiors would be dusted as well as covid clean since we are in a pandemic. The whole cabin really needed a good dusting/cleaning.
When I went into the kitchen we found that we were left a dish cloth and a tea towel which was great but the dish cloth had a big hole in the middle of it.
When we opened the door to the back deck I could see the curtains plastic part facing the back door had chocolate or something on it, I would assume a family was there just before us with little ones and perhaps put some pudding or chocolate on it but the cleaners didn't wipe it or check it. There wasn't any cleaning products under the sink so that I could clean the room better. Not even any disinfectant wipes or spray or anything!
I went into the bathroom to check how clean it was and along the side of the toilet wall the wood had white specs all over on the wood. Again I would have thought that the wall would have been cleaned extremely well.
We brought steaks and other meats with us bc we were told that there were communal barbeques on the property that we could use but there was a massive family group (about 25 adults) who daily took over the bbq's for their food and families so we could never use them. We had to go and rent a bbq for the entire weekend.
The bed in the master bedroom honestly was horrible to sleep in! It caved in the middle with both of us sleeping in it so for 2 nights i actually slept in the bottom bunk of the 2nd bedroom.
I just wanted to let you know of some things you could improve for the rental of these cabins as they are definately not cheap!
On a positive note the shower was large and I really loved the product they provide to you for free, ie shampoo, conditioner and body wash - it was pepperminty!
The scenery was stunning! So nice to be close to the mountains, having the creek right beside us was really nice! The big plastic chairs at the fire pits were great as well as the fire pits! We tried for 2 days to get into Lake Louise to no avail.....everyone else was trying to do the same thing!

One night we went to the bistro for dinner and I just wanted to comment that the gentlemen there was working all by himself for a couple of days serving the tables inside and out. I think he did a very good job being all on his own with a sold out resort!

We honestly found this resort expensive! The view and location is perfect but I honestly expected more for the cabin experience. We normally can get a stay at an all inclusive resort for $1500 canadian dollars - which is how much we were charged for 3 nights.

Would we return? Probably not.
Would we recommend? Definately if they pay more attention to cleanliness

Rustic feel but very comfortable. Some rooms have kitchen—very convenient because the restaurant on-site is not operating. Friendly staff—free ground coffee each day! Multiple outdoor seating areas along creek—very soothing. Plus, multiple fire pits with ample wood supply. Convenient to Lake Louise.

Loved this quaint little cabin in the woods. Beautifully decorated, loved the wood burning fireplace our own private deck and picnic table the creek running in behind, the fire pits beside the creek with large comfy Adirondack chairs to sit out and watch the stars! No cell phone service YaY so unplugged so relaxing! They had so many extra towels in the bathroom so this was appreciated as Covid 4th wave we didn’t want people coming in to clean each day. We brought our own food and it was great!! Highly Recommend & We will be back 😃

Highly recommend Baker’s Mountain Resort! Not only is the area spectacular but the details were very much appreciated. Our very late check-in was accommodated with a map, coffee and the outdoor light to our cabin was on, making it easy to find. In our cabin, we loved the board games, record player featuring only Canadian music and the Indigenous peppermint-sage shampoo, conditioner and lotions. And to top it off, the front desk gave us some tips on what to do in the area, which turned out to be perfect for us! We plan to return in the summer/fall to try some different activities.

My family (2 adults, 2 young kids) recently stayed two nights in a one bedroom loft cabin with stairs. Baker Creek is an incredibly special place in Alberta !! It was like staying at an upscale back country cabin with all of the amenities and without having to hike in ;) SO many small details made our experience one of a kind and relaxing.
The front country location is incredible and just a quick drive to Lake Louise; we went snow shoeing right out the back of the cabin, we brought our own shoe shoes but they were also available to use as well as sleds for little kids. There was an ice rink with beautiful mountain views and lights on out front that we jumped on right after check in. Really accommodating for families; skate aids for the kids, hockey sticks and pucks as well as a fire pit next to the rink. We also enjoyed the outdoor fire pits each night along the water with stunning mountain views. Unlimited fire wood was always on hand as well as kindling and roasting sticks for hot dogs and smores. The cabin was absolutely perfect!! The architecture on the property was stunning. Our cabin had a wood burning fireplace, the beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we could ever need; toaster, small oven, microwave, kettle, pots and pans etc. Freshly ground coffee was given to us each morning to use with the in room french press and pour over. Staff was very friendly and happy to answer questions. Can't recommend Baker Creek enough!! There is also a restaurant/cafe on site. As well as local wines & craft beer for sale.

Hello! It's never a bad idea to have snow tires or a vehicle with 4WD if that's an option. You never know when a snow storm might hit! There are shuttles to/from Banff/Canmore (google "Banff Airport") but it won't get you to the property. Best to drive so that you have a means of getting around as the property is not walkable to anything (other than some epic Mother Nature). Please feel free to call or email front desk (contacts are on our profile). Enjoy!
