Nestled near the stunning Lake Louise, the Lake Louise Inn is celebrated by guests for its friendly service and strategic location close to local attractions. Despite the praise, many reviewers express concerns over the inn's outdated ambiance and rooms that are in dire need of modernization and additional conveniences. While some areas of the inn are recognized as cozy, and the multiple dining options, pools, and hot tubs are appreciated, the overall value is questioned by travelers who find the amenities don't justify the premium rates.

5 BIG stars for Lake Louise Inn! My husband and I just returned from a 5-night stay at Lake Louise Inn. I was a little hesitant based on some of the reviews I had read, but loved the location and decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad we did!

The location is ideal, in the heart of Banff National Park and very close to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Easy access to the highway to travel to the town of Banff or to Jasper along the Icefield Parkway.

Our room was excellent! We had our dog with us and stayed in building 3, on the main floor for easy access taking our dog out. Our room was a one-bedroom condo with a full kitchen, including pot & pans, dishes, flatware, dishwasher, etc. Our room had a patio in the back with chairs. Our room was updated and very clean.

The service was exceptional. Our coffee maker wasn't working one morning and within 10 minutes of calling the front desk we had a new coffee maker. Our room was made up each day.

The hotel offers activities at their indoor gazebo, which has a large fire pit in the center. One evening we went and roasted marshmallows and ate s'mores while listening to live music. Another evening, they were grilling hot dogs and hamburgers in the gazebo with live music playing - no charge for the food but they did ask for an optional donation to the Jasper fire fund, which they emphasized was completely at our discretion.

We kept talking about how we really scored staying at Lake Louise Inn. We almost stayed at a hotel in the town of Banff, which would have turned out to be a huge disappointment because it was so far from Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, the Icefields Parkway, Yoho National Park, etc.

The hotel lobby is awesome - like a mountain lodge. We ate dinner twice in the restaurant in the hotel. The food was excellent.

There are also a lot more facilities around Lake Louise Inn than what I expected based on reviews I read. There are several restaurants, gas stations, a visitor center, and a strip mall.

I highly recommend Lake Louise Inn. Would definitely return without hesitation.

Booked a two Bedroom Suite for one night - C$900 ( ouch! and that was 4 months in advance) . We hadn't appreciated that the hotel was very close to the highway ( European Motorway) and when I checked
In I was concerned that the block we were allocated to, Block 5, wa the closest to the highway. I need not have worried, there weren't windows on that side and with thick walls and double glazing the room was quiet. The Suite ( 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge/ kitchen area had been refurbished and was very comfortable. Could sleep up to 6 with a bed that pulled out of the wall. It would be a bit crowded with 6, but 4 was very comfy. Lifts to all floors in this block for my disabled brother, but one restaurant was not accessible, the other, Main Restuarant was accessible.
Tiny Shop on site to buy milk, snacks etc, but bring food if you want to cook in the kitchen which included a kettle .
The location is nothing special, shuttles ( pay) to man sites, but notneededby us as our Mobility Badge meant we could drive and park at Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, which made the Lake viewing experience so much better.
One other point, the hotel is very big with 5 blocks and I would guess 250?? rooms, this resulted in shortish queue fir dinner and breakfast, so allow time. On the other hand the very good Pool/ Spa was almost empty.

Dear battleoftrafalgar, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback! We're glad to hear that you found the two-bedroom suite comfortable, quiet, and well-suited to your group, despite your initial concerns about the proximity to the highway. It’s great to know that the thick walls and double-glazed windows helped provide a peaceful stay. We’re happy that the suite’s layout and amenities worked well for you. It’s also good to hear that the elevator in Building 5 was helpful for your brother's mobility needs, though we regret that one of our restaurants was not fully accessible. We’ll continue to work on improving accessibility across all areas of the hotel. Thank you for your note about our lobby market, and for mentioning the convenience of the kitchen in your suite. We recommend bringing your own food if planning to cook, as our selection is indeed limited. While the location may not have been the highlight for you, we’re glad that your Mobility Badge allowed for convenient access to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, enhancing your experience. We also appreciate your patience with the short queues during meal times and are happy to hear that you enjoyed the quiet of our pool and spa. We hope you’ll consider staying with us again on your next visit to the area! Sincerely, Dominic Carufel Hotel Manager hotelmanager@lakelouiseinn.com

With Lake Louise Inn the main value you're getting from your stay is the location on being close to the lakes in the area, and if you're planning on touring the Icefields Parkway on your own or with Brewster etc, then you're in a great position.

Unfortunately the hotel experience is average at best and for the money being charged for these rooms there may be better alternatives at Banff. We stayed in one of the 'Deluxe' Double Queen rooms, which are based in the main building on block 2 - we ended up in Block 2 which is a fairly tired basic motel type building. We were lucky to be on the bottom floor as there are no elevators, the decor is very tired - with paint peeling from around the doors / windows. The room was clean and there were no issues with the service during our stay, but the general feel of the rooms due to age was poor. There is also no A/C or heating, which I do understand is due to their climate focus - however our room was extremely cold overnight and I'd dread how cold it would be when it gets into ski season. There was a blanket provided, but only one - which didn't seem ideal for a two bed room. It's worth noting that the the building blocks are all seperate, so if you're outside of the main building you will need to walk into the main hotel for food etc, which was no problem for us but worth considering. In addition, the rooms have very little soundproofing, when others are running water it is loud and movement can be heard very easily. The fan in the bathroom sounded a little like a turboprop plane had landed inside the ceiling (this wasn't actually much of a big deal but just adds to a little list of things that could do with some TLC). The TV in the room looked a little like it was making an appearance from 2007 - which is no big deal, but there definitely needs to be some updates in these rooms to make them more cosy.

The main building feels far more modern and cosy, with two decent restraunts inside. Sadly there's no way to book for these and you have to time your dinner to ensure you don't spend over an hour on a waitlist. There's not a huge amount to choose from in Lake Louise for food, so everywhere fills up quickly - even the cafe over the road can also see an hour wait past 7pm. I must note that the food from the Timberwolf restraunt inside the hotel main building was fantastic - with a lovely range of pastas and pizza, the service was great and the decor and feel was also nice.

I believe some blocks have been recently renovated for the more expensive suites, so hopefully those same rennovations will take place across the hotel as with rennovations this would be a great place to stay. If you're booking a suite or condo type room - you'll be fine, if you're booking a two bed / single bed room I'd reccomend you only stay here for a couple of nights maximum for the convenience. Service was good and there's plenty of free parking to make use of directly outisde of all of the buildings - which means you can easily unpack / travel. The restraunts and service of friendly staff are what push this to a 3* rating, without those factors I'd be inclined to rate this as 2*s.

Dear jacobsQ3164KR, Thank you for taking the time to provide such a detailed review. We're glad to hear that our location and proximity to the lakes and Icefields Parkway added value to your stay. It’s also great to know that you enjoyed the dining experience at Timberwolf Pizza & Pasta Cafe, and that our service and staff were able to meet your expectations. However, we apologize for the aspects of your stay that didn’t live up to your expectations. We understand the need for updates in certain areas, especially in rooms like the one you stayed in. While some of our rooms have been recently renovated, we are continuing to work on improvements across the property to enhance guest comfort. Your feedback on the decor, temperature control, and soundproofing is invaluable and will help guide those efforts. We also take note of your comments about the wait times at the restaurants and are continuously working to improve the dining experience for our guests. Thank you again for your insights, and we hope you’ll consider staying with us again, perhaps in one of our renovated suites, as we work to create a more comfortable and updated environment for all our guests. Upon my preparation work/pleasure for this long trip and drive (SUV 4x4) from Edmonton through Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise, Revelstoke, Kamloops and Vancouver, I was extremely fortunate to discover "Lake Louise Inn" , with its SPLENDID images of wood construction with high wooden ceilings !
The building itself revealled to be an extremely confortable Winter Inn lodging , with very atractive interior design layouts and areas, serving a very good hot buffet breakfast , together with an amicable and efficient service by recepcionists and restaurant'crew .
I'm sure that the splendid and vast snow "cushion" that covered buildings, roads, trees and vehicles with its white thick camouflage helped or contributed to enhance the confort of this Mountain Inn , but surely that in Summer , the lack of snow will (would) not lower its Excelent value less than Very Good !

(Just one help to the managment of Lake Louise Inn : I believe that the carpets in rooms are not antistatic : Me and my wife exchanged some electric schocks when in the room !)

We liked a lot about this hotel. We stayed as a family of three and another couple and we were given adjoining rooms, which was nice. Both rooms were the standard North American hotel room of two double/queen beds. The bathroom was fine though a little small and with an awkward shower curtain which made it hard not to get water on the floor. Air con/heating was noisy but worked ok. Fridge was useful to have. What was a bit weird was the location of the rooms. Both overlooked the pool, so the windows only got light filtered through the swimming pool's glazed roof. This made the rooms rather dark, and you couldn't see what the weather was doing: we went out one morning and were surprised to see it was snowing - we'd had no idea! The large amount of rooms overlooking the pool also made you feel a bit like you were on display when you swam there. However, the two small and one large hot tubs were lovely.

We tried two of the restaurants in the hotel, as we were there for a few days. The pizza and pasta restaurant, Timberwolf was really nice (no disabled access though, as it's up a set of steps) and the pizzas there were great, literally some of the best we've ever had anywhere. There was a mistake cooking my pizza on the second evening we ate there and the only inconvenience was everyone else's food arriving and me not knowing what had happened to mine - once I spoke to a waitress about it, she sorted it out quickly and was very friendly and apologetic. And the pizza was certainly worth waiting for! In contrast to Timberwolf, Legends was disappointing. The room was very cold, but it was warm compared to the greeting we got when we arrived... yikes! The food was average (despite a well-written menu that promised a lot) and quite expensive and the service was much slower than in Timberwolf. Definitely skip Legends.

The photos show a gorgeous lobby area. It is nice enough but quite noisy during check-in and check-out, only has a few sofas, and there is no liquor license for that area, so you can't have a glass of wine while you play cribbage (I know: we're heavy party people!).

Dear SLCWYorks, Thank you for sharing your detailed experience with us. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed having adjoining rooms for your family and friends, as well as the comforts of the hot tubs and the convenience of in-room amenities like the fridge. Your feedback on the rooms facing the pool is very helpful, and we understand that limited natural light and privacy in that area can affect the experience. We're also sorry to hear about the minor inconvenience with the shower curtain and the noise from the air conditioning, and we'll continue to work on improvements in these areas. We’re thrilled to hear you loved the pizza in Timberwolf—our team takes pride in creating memorable dishes, and it's great to know they hit the mark for you. We also appreciate your patience and understanding with the delay in receiving your pizza one evening, and we're glad our staff could resolve it quickly. On the other hand, we’re sorry Legends didn’t meet expectations, both with the service and atmosphere. Your feedback here is invaluable, and we’ll use it to improve the experience for future guests. Thank you as well for your thoughts on the lobby atmosphere. We’re always looking for ways to enhance our guests’ comfort and will keep your suggestions in mind as we review our amenities. We appreciate your visit and your thoughtful feedback. We hope to welcome you back for an even better stay in the future! Sincerely, Dominic Carufel Hotel Manager hotelmanager@lakelouiseinn.com

Extremely busy with lots of people coming and going and 5 different buildings. The outer buildings seemed sort of ‘youth hostel’ types but we were in the main hotel so I didn’t see the rooms in those. The main hotel was lovely, with two restaurants open; one of which had vegan choices on menu (not common in Canada). There were laundries in 3 of the outer buildings which was very useful ($8 to wash & dry a load). Nice pool and hot tubs in main hotel.

There is a wide variety of room classes. We had booked the cheapest one, and were taken a bit aback at check-in when the front desk clerk told us rather pointedly and emphatically that we were in the most basic type of room and therefore some amenities were not available to us. Not exactly condescending, but it seemed that with her tone of voice she was letting us know our place. However, the other front desk employees were far friendlier and more forthcoming with volunteering information about the positives – indoor pool, restaurants, etc. The room was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping staff were polite and friendly. It actually snowed in mid-June, and the room took a while to heat up, but probably nobody was expecting cold weather so perhaps the furnace was off. The fridge situation is highly inconvenient – if there isn’t one in your room, you can use the fridge behind the front desk, which would mean waiting in line every time you wanted to get something out, so we decided not to bother with buying perishables. We were told a microwave was in the basement of our building. We found the laundry room but not the microwave, and it’s kind of creepy and isolated down there, so we didn’t feel inclined to spend time searching. Be aware there are no elevators in any of the buildings. There was no rubber bathtub mat, but when we asked, it was delivered quickly. We wanted to use a safe deposit box, but if you lose the key, you have to pay $450 - four hundred and fifty Canadian dollars. The hotel should put a safe in each room with a programmable combination, which is the norm with most modern hotels. We paid an astoundingly high room rate, but I believe that during tourist season that’s probably standard for the area.

Dear Elizabethfirst, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your candid review, and we apologize for any miscommunication or inconvenience you experienced during your stay. We offer a variety of room classes to cater to the different preferences and budgets of our guests. We regret any impression of condescension from our front desk agent, and we'll address this issue to ensure all our guests feel welcomed and valued. We're pleased to hear that the room itself was clean and comfortable, and that our housekeeping staff provided friendly service. However, we apologize for the unexpected cold weather and any inconvenience it caused with the room's heating. We'll take this into consideration to improve the overall guest experience. Your feedback about the microwave and laundry room is valuable, and we'll make sure to provide clearer instructions for locating facilities within the building to avoid any confusion or discomfort. Safety is of utmost importance to us, and we appreciate your concern regarding the safe deposit box. We'll take your suggestion into account and explore alternative safekeeping options for our guests. We understand your concerns about room rates during the tourist season, and we strive to provide competitive pricing while maintaining the quality of our services and amenities. We continually review our rates to ensure they align with industry standards and guest expectations. Once again, we apologize for any inconveniences you encountered during your stay. Your feedback helps us identify areas for improvement, and we hope you'll consider giving us another chance to provide you with a more enjoyable experience should you return to the area in the future. We visited as a family of four. We booked a Summit Deluxe Two Queens, but we’re upgraded to a Loft Suite on Check-in.
The Suite had enough beds/ pull downs/ pull outs to sleep 7-8 people. It had a fully fitted modern kitchen with plates and utensils, in fact it looked brand new.
The bathrooms were exceptional, no issues.
The beds were very comfortable.
There if free mini-golf in the trees, free games to borrow and free mountain bikes with helmets provided. We went on the bikes and followed one of the trails along the Bow River, very scenic, as Reception Team for s map.
The swimming pool temperature was cool. The Jacuzzis ranged from warm to hot.
The two restaurants serve pizza & pasta, the pizzas are massive, so be aware! The other serves burgers, bison ribs, etc. We ate at both and had no issues with the food quality.
The Reception Tram were very helpful and informative, especially regarding visiting Lakes Louise & Moraine.
I high recommend this place as the place to stay if visiting Lake Louise Village.

We absolutely loved staying at Lake Louise Inn. The pictures online don't do it justice - we were very surprised at how lovely it is! We stayed in a room with a kitchenette for three nights; the room was very nice and we had an amazing view from our balcony/window. We hung out to hear good live music on Sat night (kids made s'mores, too) after we explored the village. My kids loved watching the ground squirrels and families play miniature golf, too. The hotel location was great for us - it was super convenient to take a shuttle to Lake Louise and Lake Moraine for one day, we also drove into Banff a few days (Johnston Canyon, etc), drove up to Bow and Peyto Lakes, and also explored Natural Bridge and Emerald Lake. It worked out wonderfully because most of these locations were around 20-30 min away (in different directions). There were thunderstorms at night and we loved the indoor swimming pool and going in the hot tub on those evenings (after long days of adventures outdoors).

Rooms are dated. Our room had no window to the outside. When we opened the drapes half of the window was glass you could not see through… it was frosted white…. Then there was a layer of rocks… then you could see the inside of the indoor pool room and the indoor restaurant. When you looked out the top you could see people eating in the restaurant above the pool room. Basically our room backed up to the pool room. I can barely describe how awful it was. To prevent people in the restaurant from seeing into our room we had to close the drapes…. We felt like we were living jn a cave. When we walked into our room we found earplugs on the nightstand…. We assume this was for noise from the pool area. Really????? I have NEVER a been in a hotel that has had to provide earplugs! You should not be renting these rooms if they are that noisy to require earplugs. There was one rickety wooden chair in the room. There was no comforter on the bed… just a sheet and another thing slightly thicker than a sheet. The headboard of my husbands bed fell off the wall. We had to move the bed to find a plug that would work anywhere near the nightstand. The plug that was available on the ancient lamp
On the nightstand did not work. The drapes we could
Not get to close all the way so the light from the pool/sauna room was in our room all night. We go to bed early and yes the noise was awful. Kids in the pool … people partying in the hot tub. remember…. This is an indoor pool area!!!
There is NOTHING to do in the area…. There are a few wooden seats outside that look out at the very busy road the hotel is on., The lobby was overrun with people and numerous tour buses dropping people off. The hotel restaurant was impossible to get into.
No doubt we got the WORST room at this hotel. This was the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in.

After my recent experience of shuttle bus being fully booked days in advance i would not rely on it. Hope you get a better room and service than we did.

Not sure. Heating was not required on our visit. But there was a room temperature controller on the wall which could be set.

You can bike along the trails that lead from town up to the lake but it’s uphill the whole way. There are a mixture of trails to get up, but some are more suitable for going on foot, as there are staircases. You can find trail maps online or at the visitors centre in town.
