We were on the way from Switzerland to Pisa and decided to stay somewhere in the country side in stead of in a city. The history behind this place is very interesting and dates back to the 13th century. The room was large and was self contained with fridge and cook top and sink and utensils. A nice change from...

We've visited for a single night at the end of Oct 2015. We got a broad room, recently restored, finely and simply decorated and furnished, plenty of room for a child if we had. The building is majestic, in the middle of the small village of LU Monferrato, on top of a hill. We had dinner at the restaurant which...

Stayed here for one night with my wife in February. Place was fully booked but we managed to get the smallest room available. Even that was sizable and comfortable enough for us. Excellent dinner at the resort restaurant. Certainly want to come back.

High on a hill town in Monferatte, we stayed two nights in the Palazzo Paleologi, We had come to see my husbands cousins in Cucarro and it was close to where his family lives. We enjoyed the town of Lu and our stay here. Although the hosts do not speak English, they were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean...

We stayed here for almost a week with a large group. The service was fantastic, the rooms were nicely done and well equipped. The entire place has been renovated very nicely since it was once a run down and damaged old monastery. The food at the restaurant was delicious as well.

We recently returned from our three week holiday touring around Europe. It was a holiday where we camped in our family tent some nights, broken by hotel nights in relative luxury to keep the Wife and I sane. The kids love the tent, and the whole European camping experience, but for us grown ups, the prospect of a freshly made...

The hotel is called a resort, but there are no facilities at all. There is not a bar, no seatings outside. The parking place is dirty. The alley to the front door is dirty with leaves from last year and old newspapers. The old couple that run the place don't speak english but were not very friendly and inviting in...

My husband and I needed a place to stay for a few nights whilst travelling through Italy. We discovered the lovely Palazzo online and as it was dog friendly decided to base ourselves there. The Palazzo has been converted from an old monastry into a hotel with little self contained apartments. Dont expect chic living spaces, but the apartments are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Since in the 13th century the Paleologi Marquis, who held the largest part of the territory of present-day Piedmont, chose the current location of the Relais Palazzo Paleologi at Lu in Monferrato to erect their ancient Italian Villa, you can be sure that today you will enjoy that prime choice by staying in a context truly rich in history and charm. At one hour from Milan, Turin and Genoa and a half-hour from Alessandria, Casale Monferrato, and Valenza, Asti and Alba, the holidays rooms and vacation Studio Apartments, the Palazzo Paleologi Restaurant, were designed to recreate the Historic Residence of Monferrato with a careful renovation designed in collaboration with the Office of Monuments and Fine Arts in Turin.Completed with the utmost care, the Holiday Rentals Villa has kept intact the original typologies and materials as much as possible, thanks to the use of methodologies attentive to the environment and to the well-being of the guests. Where possible, the dictates of bio-architecture were followed, with the use of natural plasters based on lime, water-based paints, and treatments of brickwork and parquet derived from natural productsToday the philosophy of the historic Relais Palazzo Paleologi is Slow Living: The slow life, to rediscover the rhythms of the past and the charm of Piedmont traditions in an atmosphere of calm and relaxation, ideal for those who are looking for a sensorial venue, in contact with the true life of a town, for an experience to remember. ... more   less
