The best thing I read was about the road coming in so we rented a two seater ATV before we came. Left the rental at the quad place and bumped and laughed our way to the hotel! This is a must do! Don’t drive the rental! It was sadly empty (2 rooms occupied out of 23) but we just went with it. Checked in after and awesome margarita to calm the drive nerves and found Raul to check us in. Very very laid back. Went to room 17 and just kinda stared at the view. Wow! Rooms are decent and great beds! Ok bathrooms and great patios so I’m saying win! Every happy hour we just sat on our patio band watched they manta rays jump. Nothing I’d ever seen.... so cool. Views are stupid beautiful and time just drifts by. We had every breakfast and dinner here and the service is 10 star! They want and need us. Food is ok, what are you going to do with 2 guests? Good wine and basic Mexican fare which I loved. The comment someone made about a 15% tip on every bill is probably right... but I just tip bigger because these people need it and always laugh...so tip big! In the end, tough place to get to and sometimes windy.... but it’s an adventure you should do... Weirdly on check out, we couldn’t find any human to check us out so we left a note :) never saw a folio. Maybe some day I’ll get one, but for now.... I have pictures!

The “driveway” is 30 minutes of off-roading on a cliff overlooking a beautiful beach, navigable even in a compact car if you go slow. Such a fun drive. The property is gorgeous and the staff is amazing. We stayed in the Bridal Suite, well worth the price. More privacy and the spa is a great amenity. Sunrise is worth getting up early for no matter what time you go to bed and the complimentary breakfast was delicious every morning. They have a few authentic palapa’s for spending the day on the beach. The snorkeling is INCREDIBLE. During the day we found baby sea turtles and at night the sand crabs are everywhere. Dinner menu is so good that locals eat there. Prices are very fair. Fresh fish brought in daily for specials. Best mango margarita I’ve ever had. Bar staff is exceptional.

We flew our Cherokee Six, The runway is in good shape and weather is VFR 95% of the time. They were waiting for us at the ramp. We checked in, got in our swimsuits and were enjoying our first cocktail by the pool 15 minutes after we landed. Extraordinary service and attention to detail. Very spacious and cozy room with a beautiful ocean view by day and great stargazing at night. Only 23 rooms so we never worried about having to socially ditance. It's just you, nature and lot's of space. You can hang out at the beach, pool, dining room, bar or your room terrace. Hearty Mexican Breakfast was included: Fruit Coffee, Juice, any style eggs, Chilaquiles and pan dulce. Lunch and dinner menu was limited due to Covid but everything had a fresh and well seasoned flavor.Make sure you try the tempura style fish tacos. Best batter ever. They have snorkeilng gear, kayaks, paddleboards, and ATV's for guest use. Day fishing trips are available at an extra charge. Internet access is decent but spoty at times.

This was our first (fly fishing) trip out of the country since the onset of the C19 issue. It turned out to be a decent experience. Strangely the only real negative to the trip was the unusually high temperatures coupled with a lack of breezes that kept us from spending too much time out in the sun. Oops. The other downer was the quality of the kayaks (broken seat backs) which made them unusable for fishing. Let's get on with the good stuff. Travel there is easy from Arizona. It was from the Tucson airport to Phoenix and then nonstop to Cabo del San Jose. The balance of the trip to this somewhat isolated resort just north of Los Barriles was by a fairly pricey shuttle in a Chevy Suburban. A bit costly at $360 for the round trip. But overall the week's stay was very reasonable compared to many of the other all inclusive places we have visited.. It's a really nice looking resort. Great views from the bluff. Good sized rooms that have been tastefully updated over the years. Comfy king sized bed, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a nice bathroom and shower area. We also had a small fridge for things we wanted to keep cool and a TV too. Not used to having the latter at most of the places to which we travel. The main lodge has a decent sized dining room and a pleasant "sports bar" with covered and uncovered seating areas. Breakfast was included in the room price, and the menu was plenty extensive for us. For lunches and dinner there was a chalkboard of items that could be purchased any time of day, and that we really appreciated as opposed to the timed group dining that goes on at many of the other similar resorts. Wine was overpriced as might be expected, but cervezas and diet cokes were reasonable. Fishing was probably not as good as I had expected or hoped it would be, but what we do doesn't always work anyway. We fly fish from the shorelines (or kayaks), and do not use guides or charter power craft. So we are restricted by the weather and tides more than other people who use different tactics and equipment. Probably the most impressive thing about this resort is that they were fully staffed - even though for several days of our stay, there were no more than a few of us "touristas" here. Again, interestingly, most of the other visitors during our week's stay were Mexican nationals. That speaks well for the place. I'm sure the USA visitors will be back in mass once the C19 issue shuts down. We'll definitely be back later again this winter. We liked the experience.

We stopped there for lunch and enjoy the beautiful setting. They do have amazing views, Hotel was pretty empty due to COVID and the staff was very welcoming. We enjoyed the beautiful beach below the hotel (snorkeling was not good the day we went, perhaps just bad luck) and then we went to have lunch at their bar. The food was not cheap but delicious... what we didn't appreciate was the surprise blanket mandatory gratuity of 15%! We would have tipped anyway but I don't like this entitlement type of attitude. Although the hotel was nice (we also saw a room which seemed comfortable enough), we would never stay there due to how isolated this place is and the blanket gratuity policy. Felt a bit nickled and dimed.
