We have just spent 2 wonderful weeks at the Grand Velas....the last week of Nov. and the first week of Dec. The last week of Nov. was American Thanksgiving so the hotel was full and it was difficult to find a spot on the beach or around the pool. The first week of Dec. was perfect with lots of room everywhere. This was our 4th visit to the Grand Velas and the service and food is top notch. Our favorite restaurants were the Sin Lin, The Piaff and Lucca. The Sin Lin is a new addition and we really enjoyed the decor and ambience there. The capitan Francisco and Christian were very attentive. In the Piaff restaurant the chef Raul cooked us Chateaubriand twice which was a wonderful treat and in the Lucca restaurant we received great treatment from Celso and Casper. The Azul restaurant is less formal and has a very good selection of buffet style food. The capitan ,Fidel, ,remembers each year some of our favorite items and makes feel very welcome along with Gerardo one of the waiters. We have to mention Sebastian and Hector who always made sure that everything was to our liking. Last but not least was our concierge Chepe that we have had for the 4 years who went above and beyond for us this year. If you are is search of a first class resort this is the place for you!! …
My wife and I recently stayed at the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. We have stayed at a number of high end all inclusive resorts and decided to stay here because of the positive reviews. We were totally impressed. All of the staff were friendly and very attentive starting with our concierge Alfredo who was amazing! He would check in on us daily and deal with any concerns and make any reservations we wanted, but was never intrusive. When we mentioned we had forgotten to bring our frisbee, he even went and purchased one for us! The restaurants were excellent with very good service and the food nicely presented and delicious. There were also many other faster and more casual food options available, especially around the pools. The Margherita “Cadillacs” and other specialty drinks were also very good and the beers and water often brought in ice buckets to keep them cold. Occasionally we were spoiled with cool damp scented towels for our hands and faces and ice cream bars and other treats for our taste buds! Our room was a Grand Class Suite and the room, the large terrace with a spa and the views were outstanding. The three infinity pools provide an excellent panorama right out to the ocean and the three temperatures make sure you will find one that is right for your mood at the time. There are always more than enough lounge chairs to find sun or shade around the pool or on the beach as desired. The weather was consistently great and the sunsets each night were beautiful. The spa was decadent. There were no seaweed issues at all like we have experienced on the Atlantic side. The beach was clean and perfect for long walks and the water shallow for some distance making it great for wading in (or with children). While we have mainly stayed recently at adult only resorts, we were not bothered by the children and often enjoyed watching them. There appeared to be many activities to keep them busy. There was some entertainment/shows on a few evenings but this is a more relaxed/quiet environment than some other resorts we have stayed at, which was fine with us. We definitely recommend this resort and plan to go back there and would also try other Grand Velas resorts based upon our excellent experience.…
We stayed at Grand Velas in November – marking it our fourth year in a row! We came with another couple and our children (10yrs and 7yrs). Every year we entertain doing something different - but we keep coming back to GV because we know that no other vacation can compare! Every detail of the resort is on point and the service is unmatchable. From the moment you check in and your bags are taken care of, you are served a refreshing drink, given a fresh cool towel to freshen yourself after a long day of travel AND given a neck massage. We are treated like family by all of the staff and every need or desire is attended to by the pool concierge and wait staff. Our pool concierge service by Nadia, Geraldo, Jose and their assistants (it is really a great TEAM!) were fabulous! They went the extra mile in getting the exact drinks we wanted and are always so good with the kids! They even got a pool toy for the kids to play with during our stay! Also, the kids club and teen club are well equipped and the staff is very attentive! You can hangout with your kids by the pool and still have a nice adult only dinner at night! The restaurants are beautiful and the service is excellent. Honestly, our favorite is Azul which is the casual dining right off the pool. They have spectacular breakfast spreads including a Blood Mary station! Isreal was fantastic in serving us and is always very attentive! He always makes sure the kids get something special! Besides all of the awesome activities the resort hosts throughout the day and into the evening, you can also fill your day at the amazing spa. The massages and facility are the absolute best – I look forward to visiting the spa at least once every trip! We have recommended GV to many people over the years (with at least one couple booking) and hope we have several more couples joining us next year! This resort is just amazing people, doing more than a job, and that is why we come back every year!…
Extraordinary all inclusive with splendid décor. Oceanfront paradise with fine cuisine and a variety of restaurants with a wide range of beverages. A very tranquil and relaxing resort. The only negative is that after every meal you are presented with an itemized bill and you are encouraged to tip. It states that gratuities are included but you feel like a cheapskate if you don't add an additional gratuity. I would suggest that you bring an extra $300 for a week to cover the additional outlay.
The property is very beautiful. Great beach area. The pools were all a comfortable temperature and very pleasant. The service was outstanding everywhere whether at the pool or in the restaurants. We have never been so pampered. Our concierge checked on us everyday. The food was so amazing I am having trouble finding the right words. Again, the service surpassed all expetations. We were a group of 12 and all of the restaurants were great in accomadating us. Our only disappointment was after about 6:00 in the evening it became difficult to get a drink, especially if you have children with you. The Coi Bar is the only bar open and you cannot bring children in there. You can have drinks outside but the service there was almost nonexistant. If they had a band playing and you watched outside it was impossible to get waited on. Overall, it was an outstanding experience and we would strongly reccomend it and would come back.…
