We booked a late deal for the Hebblewhite room - a large bedroom with beams, and a roll top bath, which my wife loved. We also had dinner which was excellent - the cheese souffle, the salmon and the damson souffle (washed down with damson gin) were real highlights! The service from the team was also top notch, very friendly...

This was the first time we have stayed here overnight and the accommodation was perfect. It was the second time we had eaten in the restaurant and, like the first time, was a Sunday evening. This meant the head chef was off and we had his second-in-command. This young chef is unbelievable and he's only 20. Last year, he came...

We chose to wait. He took a drinks order and served...

I am fortunate enough to have eaten in award-winning restaurants across the globe - and this is a hidden gem. The food was exceptional and the service excellent. (But don't confuse it with a different pub with a similar name nearby!) Highly highly recommended.

This is a pub/restaurant a little off the beaten track but worth a visit. Good food, well kept beer (though limited to one real ale on the occasions we visited - it is mid winter, and the Lakes are under some duress, at present because of the floods) and warm, friendly, service.
