Although it is about 45 minutes from where we live we always enjoy a trip out to the Punch Bowl. Up the M6 then through the Lyth Valley (damson capital of the UK!) to this delightful inn on the edge of the village of Crossthwaite. We were warmly greeted at the door (hats and coats taken) and shown through to...

Hi, we stayed at The Punchbowl Inn having been several years ago and meaning to come back. The restaurant is excellent. We paid £170 for two three course meals with champagne and brandies and a drink before and after the meal (whoops!). Everything was fresh, seasonal and cooked to perfection. The service is a mixed bag - there was a...

We just had a one night break at the PB, our second visit after staying last year. Fantastic warm welcome, lovely room with toasty underfloor heating in bathroom which was lovely given we had been walking before we arrived in a very cold Lake District. We had the complimentary tea and scones which were great, followed later with a very...

We went today 9/02/2015 for lunch. I had the crab risotto which was to die for. And my Husband surprised me by going for the beetroot risotto which surprised me!!!! But we both agreed both risottos were excellent. My Husband had just 2 scoops of their homemade vanilla ice cream but we were brought an extra spoon for me to...

We stayed here for one night in January. The room was large and very comfortable. The meal in the restaurant was first class, everything cooked perfectly. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

Isolation isn't always a curse.... Well worth the drive. Great service in a lovely country atmosphere. The venison tartare... Just amazing... Butternut squash soup... Delicious. We both had the sirloin for our main... If someone famous did steaks.... This would be better... We will be back... Thank you

The crab risotto was absolutely delicious. Great service, good wine - all very comfortable and cosy with the wood burning stove. Oh, and excellent coffee with petit fours. Highly recommend in winter and summer, as well as the mid seasons.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Punch Bowl. We took advantage of a winter deal giving us a Sunday night stay in the best room ( Noble) and including Dinner Bed and Breakfast as well as tea or coffee and a delicious freshly baked scone on arrival. The staff were lovely the room...
