The cottage has 2 comfortable size bedrooms 1 with queen bed the other 2 single beds. The bedrooms are separated by a living area which features kitchenette, small dining table, comfy chairs & satellite TV. No WIFI, Telstra NextG phone & data reception only.

There is a covered patio outside the entry with table & chairs, BBQ for outside dining & relaxing. Private toilet & bathroom is 5metres away outside the cottage. A fenced swimming pool is 10metres from the cottage front door. We opted for a meal package, all meals were nutritious, tasty & plentiful.

Liz the owner was very helpful thru' the booking process & rang us the morning of our arrival to advise of road conditions as there had been heavy rain across NSW with some flooding & road closures. In fact locals in Bourke the night before had told us that we wouldn't get through.

Helpful advice was provided for activities with-in the property & beyond. A true outback experience on the Darling River.

Trilby Station gave us terrific accomodation on the banks of the majestic Darling River. The Overseer's Cottage and garden were spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had all that anyone could need. The proprietor made us feel very welcome, provided us with tasty, home-cooked dinners and gave us helpful tips on what to see in the area and on the Station. The Darling River, the extensive billabong and whole outback landscape will never be forgotten.

We stayed at Trilby Station for a couple of nights with our camper trailer whilst doing the Darling River Run. Just wonderful.

Most of the sites are located along the Darling River with substantial separation between them. They come with fire pits and an initial supply of wood: each site has a pit toilet located nearby. You felt you were there by yourself - perfect.

It helped that the river was in flood and running at bank full level - a real privilege to visit at such a time.

Back at the homestead where other accommodation is available for those without caravan, camper or tent, Telstra mobile is available and there is also a good amenities block offering flush toilets and hot water showers.

Mud maps are available to do some 4WDing around the property filled with interesting information on the workings of the property.

Enjoyed are stay.

After the recent rain in the area, we were so lucky that the roads were open for us to stay in Mitch’s Hut which contained everything possible for a great stay. We were very spoilt by Liz who appeared both afternoons delivering nibbles followed by a later visit of a lovely home cooked two course dinner. We used the mud map to follow the Darling River near the homestead and were amazed at the number of pelicans present on the river at the moment. I especially appreciated Liz’s booklet on the history of seven generations of the family and facts about Trilby Station. Thank you, Liz.

We spent 2 nights in Mitch’s Hut and only wished we could have stayed longer. The cabin is very comfortable including a full kitchen and washing machine. There is also a BBQ. We opted for the dinner bed and breakfast option. Having a delicious home cooked meal with fresh vegetables after so many pub type meals across the Outback was very welcome. Liz delivers nibbles around 5pm, then the cooked dinner including dessert by arrangement. Ingredients are left for a continental breakfast and she delivers cooked eggs and bacon, again at an agreed time.

Although it was very cold when we were there we were able to enjoy fires in the outdoor fire pit and the clear skies which gave us a great view of the Milky Way.

The red tailed black cockatoos were prolific, noisy and fascinating to watch.

The mud map tour is so interesting and we really enjoyed the opportunity to explore and get a small appreciation of just how big the property is - it’s not often one drives along the fence line of a 10,000 acre paddock!

Hopefully we can return one day.

After 350ks of off road riding we were pleasantly surprised with the accomodation in the overseas cottage. We were greeted with homemade Anzac biscuits followed by lovely appetisers & roast lamb dinner. In the morning we had a fantastic full breakfast. We never wanted to leave. Thank you Liz and family for one of the top highlights of our adventure. I can highly recommend a visit to trilby station.

Our family of six (kids aged 5, 6, 9 & 12) stayed on a powered site for 5 nights and LOVED every minute!
Liz welcomed us providing helpful information to aid our stay. The amenities were great and close by including a laundry, pool and camp kitchen.
We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit each night where we cooked most of our meals in a camp oven. Gosh the stars!! The wood was restocked daily so we had ample supply!
We enjoyed fishing and yabbying in the river which was within walking distance of our van - Liz provided nets and bait for the yabbies.
The Mud Map 1 was also a hit with all of us setting out on an adventure! (Mud Map 2 is for next time we stay!) It took us about 4hrs return with a stop for a picnic lunch by the dam while the kids caught yabbies. The kids loved seeing goats, emu’s, pigs and roo’s!
We ventured out into the billabong on canoes provided by Trilby complete with life jackets. Recent flooding had the water teeming with wildlife - a must see!
We also enjoyed a tour of Dunlop Station. The history of this area is just wonderful! The old homesteads, the shearing sheds and store - definitely worth adding to your time!

This place is such a great escape for the family, a must see for the history lovers and people interested in exploring the beauty of the outback 😊♥️

What a gem! We stayed 2 nights at an unpowered camp site right on the Darling. We had nothing but praise for all aspects of our stay from booking via phone, Liz’s meet & greet on our arrival, the place pretty much to ourselves, great amenities & plenty of options for camp sites to choose from.

Everything has been thought of here. All you have to do is turn up, sit back, relax & take in Mother Nature at her best. Loved Liz’s “Trilby” rundown doc on arrival & the mud maps with such detail to easily follow. Caught plenty of yabbies for a feed & many fish to keep the blokes entertained (we catch & release - except for carp).

And Trilby has my pick for the “Best Bush Drop Dunny” EVER ! 😊

Get yourself here to experience life at its best!!!

Yes Erin, we're pet friendly... but just ask that you bring a lead for your pet in case they're inclined to chase the kangaroos, sheep, goats etc. cheers,Liz

Sorry for the slow reply.... only just noticed your question! Yes, we do allow pets but require them to be a lead at all times. And unfortunately we don't consider 'pig dog' types as pets ( though their owners may.) Cheers now,LIz
