Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed in Louth for 13 days for the races which were cancelled due to rain. Made many a trip to Shindys Inn who put on 4 great days and nights to keep everybody entertained. Great staff lead by Kathy who is a great person and publican. The town folk in this little village on the Darling are more than friendly and willing to help anyone. We feel we made new friends in town who we look forward to seeing when we go back next year.

We did not stay at Shindy's but came for lunch on our way from Bourke to Trilby station.
Although we've been travelling a while and should know better, we found ourselves with no food... and on a public holiday, in the outback!!

We had a good feed at Shindy's. The lovely owner & lady working behind the bar (I wish I'd gotten their names) made me a veggie-friendly toastie, which I was happy with and very grateful for!

They also let us buy some food from them to cook up later for dinner... they were genuinely kind and friendly.

Nice selection of beers, ice cream to keep kids happy... they were happy to chat with us as well and it was just a nice time spent there.

Had it been for these ladies, we'd have had nothing to eat that night, so we're really appreciative!

Thank you!

We had a fantastic time staying at Shindy’s Inn. The cabin was clean, comfy and spacious, the meal was delicious, and the publican couldn’t have been lovelier. She was so kind and helpful and arranged for Wally (a true country gentleman) to show us the best place to see Mary’s cross illuminated and where to find house.

After delaying our trip due to Covid, we (2 caravans plus us in cabins),we were so looking forward to our stay at Shindys Inn. The caravan sites were okay but small. Then we entered the cabin.....torn curtains, dirty floors. The air con only worked on warm mode so very uncomfortable. Supplied water had only an inch in the bottom plus the use by date was March 2020. The milk in fridge was already opened. Toiletries supplied were 2 vials of body lotion which had been used. Needs a complete makeover and a very good clean. The cabin slept 6 but had only 3 cups and 1 plate. Certainly not worth $120. The ‘communal’ amenities were quite horrible with hair in the drain and general dirtiness. The meal at the Inn was okay at the inn but all made from frozen.
Would not , and could not, recommend this to others.

Terrible food, terrible service!
We had been looking forward to a stop at Louth for a long time.
Service was hostile and extremely slow and food was terrible.
We will definitely never be back wile this pub is under current management.
Left a sour note on an otherwise wonderful day.

Very poor service. Told they would not cook lunch because there was a meeting next door? Asked to buy a beer and was asked to whisper. Seriously?
Drive on through to Tilpa. Far nicer! No atmosphere at all. They even had the television turned off on a Saturday lunchtime?

We had been told to make a visit to this place on our many travels. After making the treck in our little Hyundai Tucson along a not too bad dirt road we came across this pub. Lovely lovely owner Kath and the lovely lady she has helping out on the bar were very welcoming and chatty. Friendly pub, great atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit

Lovely pub with friendly staff. Dogs allowed outside. We stayed at a free camp on other side of river, short stroll across beautiful bridge. Gold donation to pub for a shower across road if needed. Park we stayed in had bins but only for off grid vehicles as no toilets or water. River frontage spots.

Having decided not to camp at Gundabooka because it was raining (and we were tenting), and finding Trilby station closed, we ended up back at Shindy's Inn. Cabins were both booked, but we were able to set up camp next to the pub and enjoy a cozy drink. The managers and staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming, the amenities are charmingly rustic and spacious, with great showers, and we were really pleased we ended up here.
Just a note re accommodation along the Darling:
Trilby was temporarily closed with no advice (eg signage at Louth). The next station along (Idalia) was closed long-term according to Wiki Camps, and the previous station (Rose Isle) did not answer calls when we tried later, so Shindy's was the only accommodation in the area. So be aware if trying to do the 'Darling River Run' that there's not as much accommodation available as shown on the maps.

We had no intention of stopping here but after 200 odd kilometres on the Darling River Road/track, we were tired and the drive had taken longer than expected.
Well... so glad we decided to pull in here. We got a powered site for our van and car. First impression was friendly hosts, great camp spot, amenities quaint and well made, loved the rabbit trap soap holders, straight in to the bar for our choice of drinks and enjoyable meal. Chatted to the locals, bought some goodies to support them and off to bed in this lovely quiet town. Do yourself a favour and our farmers. You can support them by stopping in here and you won’t regret it.
