My boyfriend and I have been traveling around South East Asia for 3 months now and staying here felt very homey for us. Everyone is extremely friendly and accommodating. We were only going to stay for 4 days but ended up extending our stay for 7 days instead, as it was a nice break for us. For their free breakfast you choose one meal and one drink, which honestly wasn’t enough for us all the time. However you can always order more which is between 20,000-30,000 VND. So for us that was only about 1$ CAD extra for breakfast (which wasn’t a big deal). We loved their dining area, you can play pool and they also have cards you can play as well. For lunch and dinner they have LOTS of options, including vegetarian, and everything that we ordered throughout our stay we loved. Plus the food was reasonably priced. The room was good for the price, it was cleaned every day and stocked with new towels. The only problem with the room is that the walls are VERY thin, and you can hear your neighbours very clearly. You can rent scooters on site for cheap and they give you a map with the best destinations to visit and how to get there. Overall we would highly recommend to anyone!! We’re definitely going to miss cherry (their dog), the workers and the homestay. Hopefully we’ll be back one day!!

We stayed here for 2 nights in there little house in there garden. First of all, they are very very very very friendly. We loved interacting with the lady working there, the little son, the dof named chili and the cat Miaauw. The restaurant with pooltable where lovely, with a lovely view. We rented 2 motorbikes and explored the area with our 3 kids. Don’t expect a good hotel but a Nice Homestay with very friendly and helpfull people. When staying in the area, we do recommend!

Went for dinner this evening, 3 separate orders - fried shrimp with cashew nuts, stir fried noodles with seafood, cucumber and tomato salad plus fried fish. It was all delicious and served with a smile. Think a wider dessert menu would be great but the mango pancakes were fine.
Good value meal and within walking distance of our homestay.
Many thanks.

We stayed at the Trang An Secret Garden for a couple of nights after staying in Hanoi as we wanted to visit the local sights and to go on the river. We were really torn between staying in Ninh Binh or Tam Coc then came across Trang An and found this gem of a home stay. After the hustle and bustle of Hanoi it was just what we needed, nice and quiet and very relaxing. They have bikes for you to use to get around and there is lots to see nearby from caves and pagodas to river cruises. Our room was lovely and clean and spacious, the swimming pool area was also a nice place to relax after a day out seeing the sights. We tried a lot of the food on the menu as there isn’t really anywhere nearby to eat, and it was all lovely. We enjoyed just sitting upstairs in the restaurant during a downpour, enjoying the atmosphere (and the beer) The staff were so friendly and helpful, unfortunately I didn’t get their names but the lady on reception (I think she was called Anh?) and the lady upstairs in the restaurant/bar were great! They made us feel so welcome. I must also mention one thing that has really made this place stand out for me...I left my necklace by accident and after contacting the hotel they found it but as the post would take too long they sent it to our next detonation by sleeper bus so I could collect it the next day....now that is exceptional service!!! Definitely look this place up if you want to see all of the wonderful sights in the area.

We cannot recommend secret garden enough.
The room was gorgeous, the surroundings are gorgeous the staff are so friendly and helpful!
There's a lovely little pool to hill by and a restaurant which does great food.
There were so many options for vegans and omnivores alike.
You can rent mopeds from here for a very reasonable price and they can also help you book transport to almost anywhere else in Vietnam for a reasonable price.
It is so relaxing and was very quiet while we were there which made it very romantic.
We would definitely stay again and would recommend to a friend

Nice option if you don't want to stay in Tamcoc. Everything is high standard and good value for your Dong. Nice rooms with soft beds and nice view on the garden. The swimming pool next to the rocks is a big plus. Friendly manager who we every time we walked by, made a friendly chat.
Two things that make this review a 3 star instead of 5:
- a lot of noise during breakfast time because of the building. Building noise is acceptable during the day after for example 9 am, but constant noise in the morning is not OK.
- When we arrived at 10 pm the last night at the hotel, the gate was closed. We rang the bell dozens of times, phoned the hotel and whistled and called for people. No contact and nobody there! Except the dogs... We had to park our motorbikes outside the gate (safe?) and had climb the fence. This was scary because we didn't know what the dogs would do. We managed to reach our room. At the reception we looked for a person to speak to, but nobody. The place was abandoned and if you wanted you could take everything. Really strange.

We spoke to the manager the next day about both things and he would tell it to the owner. That's a good thing! Normally we don't complain very fast about things but this didn't feel very welcome.
Overall we had a nice stay here and we liked the friendly and helpful staff!

I hope this review helped you to choose a nice place to stay in Ninh Binh!

We stayed 2 nights here, 2 Australian grandmothers and our young Viet family including 2 little children. Secret Garden deserves its TA scores. The staff could not do enough to make us welcome and comfortable and reinforced the Homestay experience as one of the best options for immersing yourself in Vietnam and the Viet concept of making visitors feel part of their family. It is our 3rd stay in Ninh Binh and we would not hesitate to return or recommend Secret Garden to visitors to this beautiful area.

Staff were so lovely, friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit out of the way but you can hire bicycles for 60,000 dong, the scenery is amazing and cycling around this area is one of our highlights while in Vietnam. The hotel also offers a free breakfast, I’d recommend the mango pancakes.
