Have stayed 4 times now, and always superb. Pleasant environment, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and excellent food, and keep a good pint. Rooms very nice, characterful and comfortable. No negative points.

So glad to here that you are receiving a consistently superb expereince on each visit. In the customer service industry this is always very satisfying feedback to receive and a great recommendation to potentially new customers. I shall share this with all my colleagues. Look forward to your fifth visit. More

Great hospitality, service, accommodation and first class food. Couldn’t be better. Shegar suite had all facilities and personal touches, the bed was large and comfortable. Bathroom had a walk in shower, roll top bath, selection of soaps and a couple of bathrobes

Very pleasant stay at this rural peaceful location but the bed was too hard and uncomfortable and at almost £130/night really hurt! Made official complaint to the general manager with no reply. Made same complaint to a more senior member of the organisation and again totally ignored. Same concerns about mattress made by TripAdvisor contributor in August this year.

Came for a couple of days away with my partner. Absolutely beautiful- everything about it . Room was beautiful, restaurant was beautiful , pub was beautiful. Cooked breakfast is a must for any1 visiting - delicious. Dinner was even better . Definitely has the wow factor at an affordable price. Only fault would be noisy fridge in room .

We stayed for one night; dinner, bed and breakfast to celebrate a 30th birthday. The room was well decorated and comfortable with lots of little extras (homemade biscuits, orange juice, water etc.) The evening meal was delicious and the quality of food was excellent. The breakfast was lovely too. The service of all staff was really good. Couldn't fault it.... More

We found the Black Horse a convenient lunch stop on our journey up the A1(M). On entering the bar we were welcomed and, having ordered our drinks, shown to a table near the fire and supplied with menus. There are both a la carte and snack menus available at lunch time. Although the main menu looked very tempting we only... More

Its an hour from everywhere you'd want to go . So I was told. It happily is also only a few miles from Bedale, the A1, Northallerton, you know, places you could be at. It is definitely worth the effort to find this place, that's easy enough as there are well placed signs on the way. If you can't come... More

we have stayed here whilst travelling to see friends, on several occassions and the food is always good, with the exception of hot drinks!Staff are friendly and accomodation tastefully decorated. Avoid the room over the bar if you have kids but \great ambience, so what more do you need when travelling?

We were taken to the Black Horse during a recent visit to relatives living nearby, our first visit. A superb top quality Sunday Roast, generous portions, attentive, friendly and helpful service from Lauren & Tom, in a relaxing atmosphere. We were well impressed and will make a point of calling again on our next visit to this area. Recommended.
