We stayed 5 nights at De Vos with our 3 young children. We simply loved our stay. The food was amazing (thank you Toni!), air conditioning was cold, there was great snorkelling right out front - we loved seeing the friendly baby sharks most days. We were the only guests, and felt very spoilt having the place to ourselves. The kids loved the pool and the gorgeous lounge area. The staff were amazing with our kids and so friendly and accommodating. They really went above and beyond to make our whole stay enjoyable. The staff involved the kids in making a lovo, braided their hair, organised horse rides, took them on a reef walk, and they did a village tour with Rita, visiting a waterfall and local school. Their nightly dance parties with Loreena won't be forgotten in a hurry! Coli's pinacoladas were excellent too. Our bure was beachfront. It was spacious, very clean and tidy, with comfortable beds and ample pillows. The room was serviced often, and spic and span (thank you Logi!). It was great to have the bar fridge, and tea/ coffee making supplies, and coffee plunger. The swimming pool was great and the outdoor bathtub in our bure was a lovely surprise. I highly recommend the Tipsy Italian across the road if you are looking for tasty, authentic pizza. Your place is a hidden gem. We will definitely be telling friends and family to come and stay. Our family party of 22 enjoyed a wonderful experience by staying at De Vos last week. It exceeded all our expectations with staff friendliness, clean spacious accommodation, great meals, a pool and facilities like kayaks, paddleboards, gear for snorkelling on site. Massages by Rita were enjoyed by several of us. In the time we were there our party had two birthdays (cakes provided by Toni), and one ring blessing ceremony all set up for us with palm tree decorations, balloons, outdoor lights and outdoor seating. We experienced a kava ceremony, volleyball on the beach, a reef walk, and trips arranged by shuttle to the waterfall, bush walks. shopping in Sigatoka, golf, and a boat trip with fishing and lunch to an island. 16 of us from Australia and New Zealand converged on the incredible De Vos Residence crew with the wonderful Sue overseeing! Nothing was ever too much for them. Colee, we all fell in love with you and can't wait to be back to see you all again! It shows that you all love working there with one another, there is always music, smiles, dancing and laughter! The meals were incredible and abundant with special mention of the fluffy pancakes Rita makes who was also kept very busy with massages on the beach, sooo relaxing listening to the waves. Volleyball, kava ceremony, BBQ, swimming, horse riding, kayaking, surfing, hair braiding, singing, dancing, bonfire, eating, sleeping, eating again, reading, sun bathing, laughing and laughing, massages, relaxing, walking, boat trips and my absolute favorite, snorkeling! So many beautiful fish to see! Even though there were 16 of us, we had our own privacy with our separate rooms and ensuite. Every morning we woke to a spotless house and were called for meals and events by the beating of the drums which sounded fantastic and could be heard from wherever you were on the property. Every time i return this place just gets better and i couldn’t fault it if i tried. I am a returning guest who loves the service and the extra provided. As far as timeout goes - it couldn’t get any better. Nothing like talking a kayak on to the beach in front and making the most of the beautiful marine sanctuary and snorkelling is another. There is just so much to see and do. The staff are always so welcoming and i always enjoy a traditional fijian massage to unwind right at the resort and this time in my bure ! The height of relaxation. The pool is huge but i prefer to sun by the pool and swim in the marine reserve and on the beach. I have been referred to many activities and this time my favourite included the waterfall trip and the boat trip to the island was a huge amount of fun and something i would love to do again on my next trip. A huge thank you to the fabulous staff who always look after me and thank you to the chef who always gets my steak right ! can’t thank you enough for the wonderful hospitality and will enjoy future stays with you as well and am already planning my next get away as this trip was not long enough and it never is. My husband and I stayed at the DeVos residence in March 2023 and had one of the best stays ever in Fiji. The residence is in an amazing area of Fiji which allows you to get out of the tourist hustle and be amongst the villages and local culture that surrounds the area. The hosts were fantastic - providing us with everything we needed on our stay and had great recommendations on what to do while on the island during our stay, they organised day trips for us and gave us all the info we needed about the local area. The room was beautiful, private, and spotless. With the oceanfront view, we could watch the tides go in and out from our bed. We felt relaxed and recharged at the end of our stay. This was our first trip to Fiji and we promised that we will be back. The resort was an ideal getaway arranged by our youngest daughter. Expect warm hospitality, great food served family style every evening and a private resort stay where you can recharge. It's the perfect place to hide away from the daily grind. Wish we were still there watching the surf come in and seeing the sun set on another perfect day in paradise. We stayed at the Devos residence for 7 days for an extended family holiday. We had a group of 16 made up of 4 families and the location and design couldn’t have been more prefect for our group. The villas are all separate and gave each family their own space while being close to each other. We opted for the full catering option which was prepared buffet style for each meal and we were really surprised with how good the food was. The staff were exceptional and super friendly (thank you to collie & Loreena) and we’re happy to give us lots of local tips which made our stay a lot easier. We went on a island day trip from the beach house which was recommended by the staff and it was amazing! Would highly recommend this trip to a private secluded island. The location was the best part! We were right on the beach and woke to the sound of the waves breaking every morning. There is a local pier about 100m walk down the beach and I’m the beach is a marine reserve so unfortunately no fishing but the snorkelling was great, we even saw baby reef sharks sunbathing which were told is an attraction for the area. We were so happy we decided on staying at Devos over a larger resort as we had the privacy that we wouldn’t have had in a big resort and spent quality time together which was really important as a lot of our extended family hadn’t seen each other since before covid. Bula Vinaka from the team at de Vos Your 7 days extended family holiday of a group of 16 made up of 4 families was a pleasure to have the property has been designed for exactly your type of holiday family groups, friends ,special occasions and the location not expensive to reach and the best piece of paradise we could find. The villas were all designed to be all separate and gave each family/group their own space while being close to each other. The full catering gives the best display of what there is on offer in Fijian including all the traditional melas and ending with a BBQ bonfire all greatly appreciated by groups. The staff/team are always happy to give tips and recommend the best options for you they genuinely want you to have the best stay. The island trip is not greatly advertised and we enjoy the ease and great price of the unique island so close to us. We love the marine reserve it has so much to offer, so very pleased you were able to enjoy all of its delights.our baby sharks another little secret for our guests to enjoy.Its not so far if you to fish off the pier. We are so lucky for our position for our privacy on the corner at the end of he road one side the vast ocean and marine reserve and the other a stream so many tropical trees foliage. I can't comment on the physical property as we did not get to stay there but their communication and service during the booking process was the worst I have ever experienced. Booked a room in Sept 2022 for a stay in May 2023. Received an email in Feb 2023 saying "we cannot accommodate your booking with the room booked due to our availability and Inventory". I emailed back for clarification and didn't get any response for 4 days despite multiple follow up attempts. There is no telephone number for DeVos the Private Residence listed anywhere that actually works. Finally I called their other property in Suva and was told that there was a "mixup with the calendars" and due to a large group booking they couldn't honor our reservation. When I pushed them to honor the booking they then claimed the group booking had been made earlier and there was no way they could accommodate us. The funny thing was though that I had been monitoring the prices at the resort (so I could cancel and rebook if the price went down) and there was availability the whole time I was monitoring it. So my assumption is that they got a group booking and decided to just cancel our booking so they could accommodate the larger group. Now I get that's its a business and they want to maximize their occupancy, but that's just super sh*%ty. Throughout their communication was worse than abysmal. No number to call. No one picked up the phone to call us. No one responded to multiple emails for days. (Our last communication I emailed them on March 1 and finally heard back on March 5th). Moral of the story, if you like being cancelled on and then ignored for days on end then this is the place for you! If you are concerned about making sure you have a reliable place to stay that's not going to leave you scrambling to find a suitable hotel, then don't book here! You never know if a more enticing reservation will come along!…

Thank you for taking the time to write your review we are so sorry you could not stay with us. Although as you mentioned this can happen it does not happen often with us and can be difficult when booking through a third party. the site you booked through has automatic responses updates and they are normally very efficent at advising us of bookings etc unfortunately this time there were not. It can be difficult getting response and the phone numbers listed on their site or are theirs not ours.But in their defence they are in totally different time zones to us and can be hard to get hold of. We actually do not take bookings on site as you are aware since trying to find direct line to property we take them at our main office. 95% of our bookings are booked directly with us through our website and to us, and a agent. We certainly dont take bookings then cancel them. when you were advised we are booked up long ago I have to be honest we are fully booked April to September end with literally 3-4 days among this.October to December a few dates left only. Our bookings next year are already at 73% we do book well in advance.With a 65% returnee rate. this shows how eager and quick people rebook to stay and get the dates. Third party dates normally are only on offer when we have a cancellation which is rare but sometimes with a death in family etc things happen and use third parties to advertise for spaces to be filled. So when the third party said there a was an error on calendars I am inclined to believe them. This however does not help you but we are truly sorry we can not fit you in and would of loved you to have stayed with us. Recommendation: accommodation websites are the best booking options and communication options for bookings and confirmations. If you use a third party always get in contact with the property as well and confirm your stay or discuss details. I hope you found a lovely place to stay and have a great holiday.
