Our villa was perfect! Very spacious room sleeping 6 people, comfy beds, a panaramic view of the beach foot steps away, with the pool directly behind us. Our room had an outdoor bath which was great for relaxing after a long day of 'touristing'. The staff were EXCEPTIONAL and made our first time in Fiji unforgettable.. Collie, Jossy, Lo, Loreena, Peceli, Rita & our amazing chef Toni (We miss your french toast daily!) Nothing was too hard for them and it was all done with their infectious big smiles. We fell in love Fiji not because of what the beautiful island has to offer, but because of these beautiful souls that made it hard for us to leave. Our children also miss them terribly! (Aged 17, 16, 8 & 5) We all left abit our hearts with the staff of De Vos. Last but not least Chris the owner, that went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. 16 of us from Australia and New Zealand converged on the incredible De Vos Residence crew with the wonderful Sue overseeing! Nothing was ever too much for them. Colee, we all fell in love with you and can't wait to be back to see you all again! It shows that you all love working there with one another, there is always music, smiles, dancing and laughter! The meals were incredible and abundant with special mention of the fluffy pancakes Rita makes who was also kept very busy with massages on the beach, sooo relaxing listening to the waves. Volleyball, kava ceremony, BBQ, swimming, horse riding, kayaking, surfing, hair braiding, singing, dancing, bonfire, eating, sleeping, eating again, reading, sun bathing, laughing and laughing, massages, relaxing, walking, boat trips and my absolute favorite, snorkeling! So many beautiful fish to see! Even though there were 16 of us, we had our own privacy with our separate rooms and ensuite. Every morning we woke to a spotless house and were called for meals and events by the beating of the drums which sounded fantastic and could be heard from wherever you were on the property. Coly loved making cocktails and looking after you and laughter and music was easy to come by. We were a group of 11 who recently spent 7 nights at de Vos. We booked de Vos exclusively and as such it was just us, the staff, and the local dogs - who we were more than happy to be adopted by. Special shout outs and pats to Knight and Charlie.
I agree wholeheartedly with earlier posters regarding the staff at de Vos. From our host Loreena to Tony in the kitchen, they and their team were great and contributed to the success of our holiday.
De Vos catered for all breakfasts and 5 of our 7 dinners. All meals are served buffet style, and we found the range of choices great (we arranged the menu prior), the food was tasty and plentiful. Lunches were either eaten out or from de Vos’ blackboard menu - which changed daily.
The facilities across the road were handy with a central area which had 3 different food options and a bar. There is also a service station, ATM machine, supermarket, and a spa. We had dinner twice across the road at Craigs Diner and the Tipsy Italian and were more than happy.
We had 4 bures and 2 upstairs rooms (Mango 1 and 2) and would describe the accommodation as ‘rustic and authentic old school Fiji’ but more than adequate. The air con was certainly welcomed.
The main purpose of our stay was to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. This was the highlight of our trip with the de Vos team arranging a special lovo dinner and with entertainment provided by 4 fire dancers and a local musician who played a 3 hour set for us.
The only negative aspect was the main pool. It was very murky and despite their efforts, the staff could not remedy this during our stay – we still used it, but it was not up the standard expected. Fortunately, the property is beachfront and we all enjoyed snorkelling and kayaking.

I was so disappointed with this stay.although it was enjoyable with family - that being the highlight. Toilets not working, stained sheets, TVs not working, kayaks and standup boards have holes in them. Massage which I paid extra for was delivered at times one handed as she was on her phone throughout the massage. Food was basic and caused many to be ill. I thank you for your feedback about Australia as it is a wonderful place to holiday and after such an experience in Fiji I will be happy to spend my money in Australia.

If you like beautiful beaches, snorkeling right outside your front door, getting away from the usual tourist resort’s and & the warmest wincing and friendliest hosts looking after your every need, then you have found what you are looking for! I loved every minute of my stay with our group of 11. We were easily accommodated with plenty of private space. De Vos could easily cater for much more if you are willing to share a room. There were a few minor plumbing issues while we were there - but hey, we’re in Fiji and for the price, I thought this family run resort was excellent value. Take the opportunity for DeVos to organize the horse riding and a village/waterfall visit, as well as guide you into the reef snorkeling. Traditional lovo, beach bonfires, dancing in the beach were also highlights.

We had the pleasure of staying at De Vos private residence earlier this month and had the most amazing experience. The property boasts several villas in addition to the main house and all of these are spacious, clean and comfortable. The pool, gardens, decks and gazebos are all well maintained. Access to the reef is literally at the back door and reef walks, snorkelling and swimming are all available. The staff were wonderful – no request was too difficult and all requests were actioned promptly. It was so lovely to wake up each morning to a wonderful buffet breakfast with a variety of dishes – and we miss Toni’s cooking. Lor and her team adopted us as family and we felt right at home. Thank you so much for looking after us so well and we are already planning when we might be able to return. Vinaka vaka levu!

I debated on whether or not to give 2 or 3. The hired staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help provide a positive experience for us. We had a family member who had a dietary requirement, and the private chef met those needs. Sadly, the chef left a few days before our departure. The Bure's were large but in need of some upkeep. The louvered windows were lacking screens, so we were unable to take advantage of the ocean breeze due to mosquitos finding their way inside. Also, not all the beds had mosquito nets. If bugs bother you don't stay here. Expect ants, coconut cockroaches, spiders, and small geckos along the walls. The location is fantastic, right on the water with paddle boards and kayaks available whenever you would like. The reef is right off the coral sand beach. The "meeting room" has lots of space and tables. We took our meals outside. The swimming pool is quite large. There is a supermarket across the street along with an ATM. The fees at this ATM is cheaper than the airport. The staff made it possible for our group to take advantage of local Fijian experiences/events. Despite any glitches the property provided 4 family groups the opportunity to gather together.

Your guest had the dietary requirement,as it could not be made in the same space or area as the rest of the meals. We had a separate kitchen staff the same one throughout your stay made her meals. Sorry, the Chef could not do it and we were asked not to attend a meal in the same area. The chef in reference had religious commitments it is that time of the year with fasting and we like to recognize and respect any religious requirements of our staff but it made no difference as the special meal was continued by the same person. the other chef and kitchen staff continued. Feedback was great from her. Thank you for the notes on upkeep you mention the mosquito nets, we do not put them on all beds normally only on the main bed, and await instruction as advised on check-in if a net is required please request. We often find that with mosquito nets on windows and mosquito nets on beds some guests find them too hot and claustrophobic so since the room has two queen beds we put on one and only do the other if requested. Thank you for your update on the tropics yes we have geckos, in coconut trees in heavy rain you may see the coconut bug in fine weather you can see where they leave holes in the bark of the tree, Mosquitos are in Fiji all year times worst than others, spraying is done to reduce this but we do minimize any non-eco products, we are lucky to have geckos and they love mosquitos and if lucky you can see them. We love our location thanks and water sports are always popular glad your family was able to make such great use of these. The position of the reef makes it enjoyable in so many ways all day thanks for highlighting this. we always provide all the local events in Fijian experiences on the property and we're glad you took advantage of them all. I can't comment on the physical property as we did not get to stay there but their communication and service during the booking process was the worst I have ever experienced. Booked a room in Sept 2022 for a stay in May 2023. Received an email in Feb 2023 saying "we cannot accommodate your booking with the room booked due to our availability and Inventory". I emailed back for clarification and didn't get any response for 4 days despite multiple follow up attempts. There is no telephone number for DeVos the Private Residence listed anywhere that actually works. Finally I called their other property in Suva and was told that there was a "mixup with the calendars" and due to a large group booking they couldn't honor our reservation. When I pushed them to honor the booking they then claimed the group booking had been made earlier and there was no way they could accommodate us. The funny thing was though that I had been monitoring the prices at the resort (so I could cancel and rebook if the price went down) and there was availability the whole time I was monitoring it. So my assumption is that they got a group booking and decided to just cancel our booking so they could accommodate the larger group. Now I get that's its a business and they want to maximize their occupancy, but that's just super sh*%ty. Throughout their communication was worse than abysmal. No number to call. No one picked up the phone to call us. No one responded to multiple emails for days. (Our last communication I emailed them on March 1 and finally heard back on March 5th). Moral of the story, if you like being cancelled on and then ignored for days on end then this is the place for you! If you are concerned about making sure you have a reliable place to stay that's not going to leave you scrambling to find a suitable hotel, then don't book here! You never know if a more enticing reservation will come along!

Thank you for taking the time to write your review we are so sorry you could not stay with us. Although as you mentioned this can happen it does not happen often with us and can be difficult when booking through a third party. the site you booked through has automatic responses updates and they are normally very efficent at advising us of bookings etc unfortunately this time there were not. It can be difficult getting response and the phone numbers listed on their site or are theirs not ours.But in their defence they are in totally different time zones to us and can be hard to get hold of. We actually do not take bookings on site as you are aware since trying to find direct line to property we take them at our main office. 95% of our bookings are booked directly with us through our website and to us, and a agent. We certainly dont take bookings then cancel them. when you were advised we are booked up long ago I have to be honest we are fully booked April to September end with literally 3-4 days among this.October to December a few dates left only. Our bookings next year are already at 73% we do book well in advance.With a 65% returnee rate. this shows how eager and quick people rebook to stay and get the dates. Third party dates normally are only on offer when we have a cancellation which is rare but sometimes with a death in family etc things happen and use third parties to advertise for spaces to be filled. So when the third party said there a was an error on calendars I am inclined to believe them. This however does not help you but we are truly sorry we can not fit you in and would of loved you to have stayed with us. Recommendation: accommodation websites are the best booking options and communication options for bookings and confirmations. If you use a third party always get in contact with the property as well and confirm your stay or discuss details. I hope you found a lovely place to stay and have a great holiday.

If you would like to experience true Fijian hospitality with the warmest welcome, infectious smiles where the hosts will do anything to make your stay extra special, then this place is for you. De Vos is far from the cookie cutter resorts where you could be anywhere in the world. This is on a beautiful and more secluded area of beach along with a handful of small resorts and private homes, yet close to so many of the attractions of Fiji. Some of the rooms aren't perfect. I think you will find this in much of the resorts of Fiji, partly due to the tropical weather and proximity to the salty ocean. But we found them spotlessly clean and possibly the best value for money resort in Fiji. Completely recommend for family or friends groups as you will be the only people here. Absolutely make the most of what this resort has to offer, the snorkelling, horse riding right from your front door (or beach to be more specific!) assistance in organising waterfall or island trips. Nothing is too much trouble for your Fijian hosts. Specific dietary needs were well catered for. All of our meals were the best we had anywhere in Fiji and we loved the opportunity to have the local cuisine - seaweed dishes believe it or not were my favourite! Definitely ask for the Lovo ( cooking in the ground on the hot stones ) and our highlight was the farewell Meke on our final night. Note that Fiji is not a first world country - enjoy the open, friendly people, exploring a different culture and experience life from a different perspective. We did and cant' wait to come back again.

We stayed at the Devos residence for 7 days for an extended family holiday. We had a group of 16 made up of 4 families and the location and design couldn’t have been more prefect for our group. The villas are all separate and gave each family their own space while being close to each other.
We opted for the full catering option which was prepared buffet style for each meal and we were really surprised with how good the food was. The staff were exceptional and super friendly (thank you to collie & Loreena) and we’re happy to give us lots of local tips which made our stay a lot easier.
We went on a island day trip from the beach house which was recommended by the staff and it was amazing! Would highly recommend this trip to a private secluded island.
The location was the best part! We were right on the beach and woke to the sound of the waves breaking every morning. There is a local pier about 100m walk down the beach and I’m the beach is a marine reserve so unfortunately no fishing but the snorkelling was great, we even saw baby reef sharks sunbathing which were told is an attraction for the area.
We were so happy we decided on staying at Devos over a larger resort as we had the privacy that we wouldn’t have had in a big resort and spent quality time together which was really important as a lot of our extended family hadn’t seen each other since before covid.
We can’t wait to be back again in the future, thank you to Loreena and the whole team ❤️

Bula Vinaka from the team at de Vos Your 7 days extended family holiday of a group of 16 made up of 4 families was a pleasure to have the property has been designed for exactly your type of holiday family groups, friends ,special occasions and the location not expensive to reach and the best piece of paradise we could find. The villas were all designed to be all separate and gave each family/group their own space while being close to each other. The full catering gives the best display of what there is on offer in Fijian including all the traditional melas and ending with a BBQ bonfire all greatly appreciated by groups. The staff/team are always happy to give tips and recommend the best options for you they genuinely want you to have the best stay. The island trip is not greatly advertised and we enjoy the ease and great price of the unique island so close to us. We love the marine reserve it has so much to offer, so very pleased you were able to enjoy all of its delights.our baby sharks another little secret for our guests to enjoy.Its not so far if you to fish off the pier. We are so lucky for our position for our privacy on the corner at the end of he road one side the vast ocean and marine reserve and the other a stream so many tropical trees foliage. A taxi is quite expensive so we travelled from the airport by coach (it is air-conditioned), takes around 2 hours, lots to see from the coach and comfortable. From memory is was around $8.50 Fj per person. Our flight from Auckland arrived around 1.pm so we caught the coach that pulled in to the Airport around 4.00, I had arranged with de Vos to have dinner there so there was no stress at all. We also caught the coach back to the Airport to come home. The two coach lines are Sunbeam and Pacific, Google their timetables. Once at de Vos we used the local bus etc, be wary of the mini vans, the drivers are lunatics but if you like fast and furious then they are ok!!! de Vos is a beautiful place to holiday. You need to make sure the bus driver knows to let you off at the Maui Bay wall just before the supermarket. Also, the closest Resort is Naviti which can be reached by walking along the beach. Outrigger etc are further away.
