Believe the reviews! This Lodge is a credit to the team on board. We arrived in June for the second leg of our honeymoon by helicopter- which is an experience that was worth me getting over my "copter nerves!" And so it began..... The service? Outstanding and personalised from touch down to take off. Our guides? Fun, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and authentic in their excitement in sharing the history of this most stunning vista and it's indigenous owners with us, newbies to the outback. The adventure element is HIGH and we loved every minute of being on safari with Sarge the army truck, belting round on the ATV self drive days, hiking up the mountain to see a most stunning waterfall and back down for champagne to watch the sunset. Food and wine? Well, this needs its own review! 5 nights and 6 days of world class cuisine where nothing was ever a problem. The Lodge, station and surrounds are also a nature lover's and historian's delight. Special thanks to Chrissie for such an amazing Gold Mine tour and to Zack- who guided us on the Station ATV tour and who cheerfully helped us up and down an admittedly, pretty challenging (for me anyways!) mountain hike, to the rock pool and falls- even when the soles of my trusty hiking shoes finally fell apart! Being we were there on such a special occasion as well, we also sprang for a night of Dining Under the Stars Degustation experience and if you are a food and wine lover, also don't miss this. The bar is now ridiculously high for future luxury lodge holidays and I will need to be very, very convinced, to go elsewhere!…
We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at Mount Mulligan Lodge. Our room was incredibly well appointed, fantastic bed, linen and wonderful shower. The restaurant provides three delicious meals a day, with a great selection using locally procured produce. My favourites included the scallops and the chargrilled prawns. We had two fabulous activities, exploring different parts of the area on ATVs. Lots of fun with plenty of interesting history and excellent guides. The early evening drinks and canapés at the sunset bar was absolutely wonderful. The staff here are some of the best we have ever encountered, nothing is too much to ask, they are friendly helpful and passionate about Mount Mulligan Lodge.
Personal greeting with a cold towelette and bubbles on arrival. A personal chat with the chef to discuss dietary requirements. Meet and greet with one of the tour guides to discuss the different daily activities and tours to partake in. These activities were led by guides who are well-versed and knowledgeable about the area and history, including sunrise & sunset tours, firepit pre-dinner drinks and ATV adventures. Brandon, Daniel, Sinead, Teagan, Hayley, Desiree, Ruby, Chrissie, Simone, Zak & Jack all made this such an enjoyable stay and experience (sorry if we left names off the list, however you were all really appreciated). The team here truly operate as a team with one goal in mind; to make your stay thoroughly memorable. The facilities are modern, immaculate, with many special touches, like your own individual golf-cart, a bath on your private deck, fishing and kayaking gear, right down to the T2 Sleep-tight tea waiting for you after the bed turn-down service. Simple touches that have the WOW factor. The meals were impeccable, delicious, personalised and presented to such a high standard. The fabulous team at this outback resort made the stay unsurpassed, with service that is second to none and resort facilities that are truly world-class. The owners of this lodge should be so proud of how this team operates – nothing was too much trouble or too hard to ensure guests are well catered to and taken care of. A five-star rating is an understatement for Mount Mulligan Lodge.…
A truly amazing experience of the Queenslander outback. The pleasant staff service and food provided by chef Dan were absolutely excellent. A different adventure activity was prearranged for us every day ranging from electric ATV tours and 4 wheel drive mini bus trips. The local knowledge passed on Simone and Chrissie was exceptional.
The word stunning is quite often thought of in a materialistic way... well yes Mt Mulligan Lodge itself is stunning, with a stunning backdrop. More importantly, the staff themselves are stunning in their engagement with the guests, in how you are made to feel welcome as soon as your feet hit the ground from the heli flight in. You just feel special all the time. Tegan manages the lodge amazingly and is clearly a great manager as the staff, find NOTHING is too much trouble for the guests or even their peer co-workers. Such a stunning atmosphere! The tour itinerary that they put together based on how long you are stunning is again stunning - why would you not want to go out for 3hours on ATVs, go to Tyrconnell gold mine and hear the stories from back in the day from Mike the caretaker who you just wanted to hear more from. And the tragic sadness when you go round Mt Mulligan township, where the coal mine disaster back in 1921 occurred. Chrissy as a guide is amazing, what she doesnt know, isnt worth knowing - so much knowledge and such an interesting person, that again you just want to pump her for knowledge about everything in the area. Lastly, FOH crew, Hayley, Jess, Brandon and Ruby - thankyou for looking after us and Brandon, thanks for showing me how to take some stunning starry sky photos with my iphone! Tegan - thank you thank you for an amazing 4 nights. To anyone reading this, if you are still thinking about booking Mt Mulligan - stop thinking and just book it - you will not regret it. We felt that our stay at Mount Mulligan Lodge luxury was simply one of the best outback holiday experiences we have had. We drove in via 4WD and loved the spectacular scenery as we approached, and the greeting on arrival by such friendly, professional and knowledgable staff. It then got better and better. Sunset drinks with unbelievable vistas, history steeped guided tours, awesome fun driving ATVs to hilltop viewing points, and much more. The food was nothing short of amazing, and every meal by chef Dan and team was scrumptious as well as a feast for the eyes!. We chose to have the degustation under the stars, and would thoroughly recommend this as the food was melt in your mouth, as well as served by the awesome Shennay who matched wine to the meal. The staff at Mount Mulligan are to be commended for their personable approach and attitude. Jess was super pleasant and put up with our multiple coffee orders! We took several guided tours, such as a walk to the gorge and swim at a waterfall, followed by sunset drinks. Chrissy, our guide was so knowledgeable about local culture, plants and history that we learnt so much more than if we had undertaken a self-guided hike. Would we visit again? Absolutely. The personality of the staff was incredibly important to us, followed by the beautiful views, accomodation and food. We would love to return!…
Put simply, this must be one of the best luxury outback experiences in Australia. It is expensive BUT when you consider the spectacular location, jaw dropping architecture, brilliant activities, staff to guest ratio and top quality dining, it soon seems value for money. The South drive in and the North drive out give spectacular views of the mountain, steeped in millennia old history and more recent tragedy. A special mention for Simone, with her stories, knowledge and wealth of historical context, both human and natural. Our trips with you will not be forgotten! Just magical. One tip: stay longer than two nights. Would I go again? In a heartbeat.
We were lucky enough to stay at Mount Mulligan lodge. If you love natural beauty and history, this is the place for you. It’s a luxury property with luxury chalets, some with quirky outdoor tin baths. The lodge itself is stunning country chic with a 5 star restaurant. It’s situated 100 Kms west of Cairns, we accessed it by a , helicopter flight, that took 1/2 hour. You can drive there taking over 2 hours. Mt Mulligan mountain is a 18 km long, 6.5 km wide sandstone conglomerate tabletop mountain. The lodge and chalets are built near the mountain, along a weir constructed in 1951, fed by runoff from the mountain. The views and especially the reflections off the Mountain onto the weir are lovely during the day but particularly stunning during sunrise and sunset. Wonderful birdlife , turtles and Barramundi inhabit the weir. You can do an easy paddle on the weir, or take a dip in the cool infinity pool. Lots of tours are on offer as well, to a Billabong, the ghost township of Mount Mulligan or mini 4WD or helicopter tours. There is so much aboriginal and mining history in the area. Human habitation has been found in caves from 40,000 years ago. However the mountain itself is sacred and believed to be inhabited by an evil spirit, access to the mountain itself is restricted Sadly there was Queensland’s worst coal mining disaster in 1921 at the (now ghost town) of Mount Mulligan. It did lead to advances in workplace safety. Mining stopped in 1951. Absolutely recommend Mount Mulligan as a spectacular outback experience.…
From the moment you start to travel in the helicopter across the beautiful green and ochre landscape, you know you're in for something special. Emma and Nick are wonderful hosts. Balancing warmth and professionalism perfectly, nothing is a hassle for them or their crew. As beautiful as the property is, it's the team who round out the vibe and in all our travels I don't think we've come across a more seamless team yet. Let's talk a little about the food and alcohol selection. If chef had a restaurant near us, I'd go once a month. My only complaint is that my eyes couldn't keep up with my stomach. Fresh, refined food made with exceptional ingredients and love. For spirits there were included options such as absolut vodka and Havana club rum. At an additional cost was some back shelf liquor - if the local bushfire gin is in stock, it would be a crime not to ask the team to whip you up a perfectly balanced smoked bloody Mary to sip on a you lounge by the pool. During our 5 days we also ATVing in the property, visited a mining area, went on bushwalks and enjoyed sundowners from the hill. We relished a morning kayak amongst the birdsong, plenty of time by the pool watching nature at play and slept peacefully in our immaculate, cool and comfy bedroom each night. In this way Mount Mulligan creates a careful synergy with just enough to do and just enough time to relax. …
Wow… this outback experience just gets better & better! All Thanks to Tegan and her awesome crew for making us feel like Rock Stars. This was our 2nd trip out to the Lodge and it exceeded our expectations once again! From the minute we arrived we were greeted with a glass of champagne and canapés. I still want to kidnap the chef (Dan) he is a magician with food, it was incredible and so delicious. The ATV ride was also a different experience to the last time we visited, which was made even more sensational by our guide Lauren who had a wealth of knowledge of Mount Mulligan. My favourite experience is the Sunset drinks & canapés up on the hill in the old shack watching the sunset over Mount Mulligan. They now have chopper rides over the station and it was just sensational, loved every minute! It is definitely a place to unwind and do as little or as much as you like in a beautiful oasis in the middle of nowhere. I’m sure we will be back for a 3rd visit very soon!…
