The location of the hotel is excellent being close to everything you want to see is a tourist. Our room looked out over the Square and had two decent beds, a little on the firm side but not too bad. For these things alone and the cheap price I would probably stay here again. There were problems though, a stinky... More

We spent one night here as part of a G Adventures tour. The hotel is in the old part of the city directly across from the plaza. It is within walking distance of several main attractions. However, our room was extremely small and uncomfortable with one double bed and 2 towels. Some people have commented the hotel is very reasonably... More

The hotel is in a great location, 2 blocks from the main square in the historic part of town. The building itself is 300 years old. We had a nice room with a view to the park across the street. The staff were lovely. Breakfast was basic continental with instant coffee but adequate. All in all, good value for money.

My review isn't without bias, as I was recovering from food poisoning while staying here. The hotel is centrally located, which is nice. My room had a funny smell, and my toilet leaked. I didn't eat the provided brunch as I was sick. If you just need an affordable place to stay in Morelia then it is definitely an option.

This hotel is in a good location for the central core. It is clean but that's about all I can say that is favorable. It was dark inside and a bit of a rabbit warren. The desk clerk had difficulty recognizing our reservation and could not mark the hotel location on a map. We had to ask 2X to get... More

Nice hotel in a really good central location overlooking a busy square. The hotel is old and it shows in the rooms, old furniture, windows/shutters that dont quite shut, very small bathrooms with shared ventilation with room next door which wasnt nice. However, the hotel staff are really friendly, the lobby area is nice, there is a free continental breakfast... More

We stayed just one night in Morelia, but the hotel El Carmen was a great place to stay. The hotel is facing pretty Plaza del Carmen, and is only a couple of minutes walk away from the cathedral. The rooms are quite small, but ours was very clean and tidy. We were lucky enough to get one facing the plaza... More

Just came back from a two day stay at the Hotel El Carmen and I have mixed feelings. The Good: - Location: This hotel has just about the best location in Morelia. It is two blocks from the cathedral, close enough to walk in 2 mins but far enough to be away from the traffic and the crowds and to... More

Hotel El Carmen is a very inexpensive hotel located in the historic center of Morelia within walking distance of almost everything. We had a basic room with one double bed for two people for about 35.00 per night. The first room we looked at was directly off of the lobby, in fact the door to the room opened into the... More

Stayed three nights in January '06. Very friendly, accommodating staff. 300 pesos/night for two in a double bed. Good location in that it is a few blocks from the main street. However, the big problem for us was the noise from the street - cars (with loudspeakers), horns, bells, at all hours of day/night. If you can, try to get... More
