Wow what an amazing unit (39). From booking with Trish to check in & was such a fantastic easy pleasant experience. Trish was so helpful & friendly especially when we hadn’t even been there an hour & we locked ourselves out of the unit. Nothing was too much trouble & unlocked in minutes. The unit is incredible & so well stocked & clean. Would definitely recommend.

We had a the penthouse and it had great views however, it was not what you would expect for a penthouse. The living area is not roomy - okay for a couple but if a family stayed here, it would be cramped. The balcony is small. It is in no way luxurious or stylish as you would expect for penthouse status. It is really a 3 bedroom unit with ocean views. It is a short, easy walk to a coffee/food. We were advised at time of booking that the unit had not been refurbished. It is in fact way overdue for refurbishment. Window glass had come away from the frame and given the residue of tape still on the window, I guess it has been like this for some time. The sliding door hardware is very corroded. While the ensuite bathroom is roomy and has a large bench, the spout over the bath has had a dodgy repair and looks as though if used, it would burst off. Living area- the curtain rail above the sliding door has been removed and left with two big holes where the rail supports were once located. The living/dining room windows had not been cleaned for some time and there is a balcony on the outside so these can easily be accessed for cleaning. The dvd player is stuffed in a drawer and not connected. The remote for the stereo system has corroded batteries and is unusable. The dining room chairs are plastic and extremely uncomfortable and dont expect a coordinated approach to furnishings. Main Bedroom isn't a bad size and has air con. The other bedrooms only have fans. The TV in the main bedroom is tiny and in a weord position. Definately not worth the hefty price tag for 1 bedroom penthouse.

The units in this complex are apparently privately owned and are rented-out by the property onsite managers. It is arguably the best located block on Stradbroke with exceptional ocean and beach views - that is if you rent a unit at the front of the buildings. The rest look out onto bushland and the difference between ocean view apartments and the rest is very marked. Some of the apartments - I suspect most of them - have become tired and have that "run down" appearance and atmosphere. The building's been up for quite a few years and some owners appear to feel they can continue to ask top dollar but offer tired furnishings and internal areas badly in need of refurbishment. Top dollar requires top condition, regardless of views, and people will pay. But it's probaby time some owners at this property either dropped their rates or started doing up their properties.

We booked a 4 day long weekend and our apartment was on the ground floor next to the pool. Disappointed would be an understatement to describe our first impression of our apartment. The apartment was rather tired in terms of decor and furnishings.....a tired, worn, "pleather" sofa as the main seating does not give a good first impression. Most importantly, it was not clean...and the resort manageress on inspection, agreed with us. We had to have the apartment cleaned again such was the state of the floors, dining table and kitchen work surfaces. Decor wise all the paintwork in the flat was marked, chipped or bore signs of damage and repair. There was a hole in the wall behind the front door. The skirting boards needed repainting and cleaning. The dirty oven and hob, that were on my wifes list for the manageress to instruct the cleaners on their "second attempt", was ignored. The hob was heavily stained with saucepan rings and it had old grease around the edges. The grease came off with a cleaning wet wipe but why should we have to do it? The oven floor was heavily encrusted with burnt grease and needed a proper oven cleaner to solve the problem. So in general terms not a good start. The underground secure parking is good. The Pool and BBQ area was very pleasent, clean and with two, large, free to use BBQs. Plenty of seating, with well kept gardens around the pool and resort. The Games Room, the only place we were able to access the free public area WiFi, had table tennis and a pool table. The gym was sufficient for a basic workout. So those aspects of the resort were good. No complaint. The apartment was spacious, well equipped with utensils etc., and would be very nice if repainted, deep cleaned and nicely furnished. As it was as one of the cheapest on offer it was acceptable, at the price, for our 4 day break on the island as we did not intend to spend a lot of time inside. For the sake of a few dollars in paint, some new furniture and a serious deep clean this apartment, without a sea view, would get a "Very Good" from us.

It was great to sit on verandah and watch the whales swim by. The Whale watch apartments would be great for a family as there is plenty of space. These are not serviced however there is a laundry in the apartment so you could wash your own towels. I would definitely recommend getting a premium ocean view apartment as that was what made our stay here. 10 minute walk to cafe, bakery, fish and chip shop, as well as main beach and gorge walk.

Great resort. Clean and tidy resort. We had beautiful weather so spent our entire weekend outside so did not look at the gym or games room. Walking distance from the beach and North Gorge walk, coffee shops and a few restaurants and takeaway shops. Both my children (age 3 and age 6) loved the pool area. We stayed in a gardenview room (unit 3) but would probably upgrade to oceanview/oceanside as I think the view would have been spectacular only wish we had booked for longer. We will be back!

The resort is at the end of a no through road and is a very quiet location. The room we had was spacious and the kitchen well equipped. We didn't use our car for the three days that we stayed here; there are cafes and beaches within 2 mins walk. The decor is little tired but overall a great place to stay. We had a garden view room and would stay here again. Point Lookout is one of the best places in the world to watch whales from the land. We were not disappointed. Recommend staying in whale season.

Thank you for taking the time to review our resort. Yes Whale Watch Resort is perfectly located to access all the wonderful attractions in Point Lookout. Perhaps next time you stay you might like to upgrade to one of our Ocean Side units or Premium Ocean view apartments with modern decor and ocean views from their balcony, but our Garden side units are great value too. We look forward to seeing you again soon

Stayed here for 2 nights in ground floor room (no view) outdoor area overlooks walkway. You really need to get a room with a view to ocean if you are going to stay here. Wish I’d known that when I booked. Rooms are large, clean and well equipped. Note when you arrive and follow sign to reception it points you down the stairs (not good when you have luggage). However, there is a lift to the right where rooms are (not sign posted though!) take lift to lower floor where cars are parked and reception is down there. Reception is the only area you can get WiFi but reception is locked when no one there - no WiFi in rooms and even my own wifi did not work and as there are no phones it was frustrating. I had to leave the resort to make a booking for a tour but found out it had been booked out. Close to the cafes and gorge walk. I was not happy that I had to take my rubbish out and put in bins in carpark on leaving - this should be done as part of housekeeping ! As I did this on departing my hands ended up smelling as bins dirty and smelly - not impressed.
