We booked a 4 day long weekend and our apartment was on the ground floor next to the pool.
Disappointed would be an understatement to describe our first impression of our apartment. The apartment was rather tired in terms of decor and furnishings.....a tired, worn, "pleather" sofa as the main seating does not give a good first impression. Most importantly, it was not clean...and the resort manageress on inspection, agreed with us. We had to have the apartment cleaned again such was the state of the floors, dining table and kitchen work surfaces.
Decor wise all the paintwork in the flat was marked, chipped or bore signs of damage and repair. There was a hole in the wall behind the front door. The skirting boards needed repainting and cleaning.
The dirty oven and hob, that were on my wifes list for the manageress to instruct the cleaners on their "second attempt", was ignored. The hob was heavily stained with saucepan rings and it had old grease around the edges. The grease came off with a cleaning wet wipe but why should we have to do it? The oven floor was heavily encrusted with burnt grease and needed a proper oven cleaner to solve the problem. So in general terms not a good start.
The underground secure parking is good. The Pool and BBQ area was very pleasent, clean and with two, large, free to use BBQs. Plenty of seating, with well kept gardens around the pool and resort. The Games Room, the only place we were able to access the free public area WiFi, had table tennis and a pool table. The gym was sufficient for a basic workout. So those aspects of the resort were good. No complaint.
The apartment was spacious, well equipped with utensils etc., and would be very nice if repainted, deep cleaned and nicely furnished. As it was as one of the cheapest on offer it was acceptable, at the price, for our 4 day break on the island as we did not intend to spend a lot of time inside. For the sake of a few dollars in paint, some new furniture and a serious deep clean this apartment, without a sea view, would get a "Very Good" from us.

Stayed here for 2 nights in ground floor room (no view) outdoor area overlooks walkway. You really need to get a room with a view to ocean if you are going to stay here. Wish I’d known that when I booked. Rooms are large, clean and well equipped. Note when you arrive and follow sign to reception it points you down the stairs (not good when you have luggage). However, there is a lift to the right where rooms are (not sign posted though!) take lift to lower floor where cars are parked and reception is down there. Reception is the only area you can get WiFi but reception is locked when no one there - no WiFi in rooms and even my own wifi did not work and as there are no phones it was frustrating. I had to leave the resort to make a booking for a tour but found out it had been booked out. Close to the cafes and gorge walk. I was not happy that I had to take my rubbish out and put in bins in carpark on leaving - this should be done as part of housekeeping ! As I did this on departing my hands ended up smelling as bins dirty and smelly - not impressed.

My in-laws from Canberra travelled to QLD to stay with us at WWOBR for 3 nights. We were given an apartment at the front of the building with fabulous views of the ocean and the local wildlife...goannas, kangaroos and sea eagles to name a few. I have visited Straddie many times and have rented a variety of accommodation but have never been so satisfied. The apartment was enormous and well-equipped. I bought this stay as a voucher deal and was a little skeptical as these kind of things can be a bit hit and miss, but I needn't have worried. I definitely recommend that you try to request one of the front apartments.

We had a the penthouse and it had great views however, it was not what you would expect for a penthouse. The living area is not roomy - okay for a couple but if a family stayed here, it would be cramped. The balcony is small. It is in no way luxurious or stylish as you would expect for penthouse status. It is really a 3 bedroom unit with ocean views. It is a short, easy walk to a coffee/food.
We were advised at time of booking that the unit had not been refurbished. It is in fact way overdue for refurbishment. Window glass had come away from the frame and given the residue of tape still on the window, I guess it has been like this for some time. The sliding door hardware is very corroded. While the ensuite bathroom is roomy and has a large bench, the spout over the bath has had a dodgy repair and looks as though if used, it would burst off.
Living area- the curtain rail above the sliding door has been removed and left with two big holes where the rail supports were once located. The living/dining room windows had not been cleaned for some time and there is a balcony on the outside so these can easily be accessed for cleaning. The dvd player is stuffed in a drawer and not connected. The remote for the stereo system has corroded batteries and is unusable. The dining room chairs are plastic and extremely uncomfortable and dont expect a coordinated approach to furnishings.
Main Bedroom isn't a bad size and has air con. The other bedrooms only have fans. The TV in the main bedroom is tiny and in a weord position.
Definately not worth the hefty price tag for 1 bedroom penthouse.

Wow what an amazing unit (39). From booking with Trish to check in & was such a fantastic easy pleasant experience. Trish was so helpful & friendly especially when we hadn’t even been there an hour & we locked ourselves out of the unit. Nothing was too much trouble & unlocked in minutes. The unit is incredible & so well stocked & clean. Would definitely recommend.

It was a horrible apartment. Mold was every where. The beds were horrible. The apartment was so run down. It's not a 4 star accommodation. The staff are rude. I don't recommend staying here. We went to straddie for my 30 with the family and it was ruined. I hated staying in that apartment. The man was so rude and not helpful at all. Very poor customer service.

After a shaky start arriving at 2.10 pm for check in and finding the reception closed until 2.30 waited until after that time no one arrived I noticed there was a mention of a buzzer at gate pressed that waited a few minutes no response went back down to reception a lady was now there who said " did you press that button " nice welcome ! When I said I did not notice any mention of check in time on booking I did not get any reply I am pretty easy going so I let that slide. The real motivation for submitting a review was how disappointed we were with how the views are misrepresented on the website we paid for what was described as an ocean view apartment while yes you can see the ocean but only when at the front edge of the balcony NOT from the bedroom and NOT from the kitchen as shown on the website photos I have uploaded photos of the view and also a couple of other things which are self explanatory a mixture of frustrating and amusing. We could have stayed else where much cheaper but my wife had worked 7 days a week since Christmas and we just wanted to be able to relax with some nice views.I suppose we should have complained but why should you have to demand what you pay for!!!! On a big plus the apartments are certainly very spacious and would be great for a large family !

Like another reviewer said as you drove up the complex look really nice and the location was great. We got to reception at 3pm on a Saturday and no-one was there. You had to buzz and the manager let you in and came to greet you. It didn't take too long but was a bit weird.
Apon entering our 3 bedroom ocean view unit we were quite impressed with the unit. It was quite spacious and looked not super flash but nice enough. And that is where our delight ended! The ocean 'view' was only able to be seen from the top end of the balcony or with your face pretty much pushed against the glass doors (will add photos). After calling reception to be told that indeed it was an ocean view room and was actually the best of the ocean view rooms we had a look around. The room was dirty with coffee stains up the pantry, rusted shower fittings and my 11 month old baby came crawling out to us with a ciggerette packet in his mouth that he found in one of the rooms and then later we found him eating stale chip crumbs left in a bedroom from who knows when. He also found cigarette butts left on the balcony and he had them in his mouth. I am so mad and disgusted that we couldn't take our eyes off our baby for 5 minutes for fear he would find something else dirty to put in his mouth! This property is old, dirty, dated and misleading and not worth the $150 a night that we paid. We will not be back and will tell everyone not to stay there! Update it units and clean up!!!! Pick up your act whale watch!!!

This was my second trip, the first with my family, we occupied all the rooms and even with the apartment full of people it was very spacious. The kitchen is very well equipped with all sorts of crockery, pots and utensils to cook up a storm, which we did every day. A short walk down to the beach, its conveniently located, yet quiet setting is idyllic. Overlooking the bushland reserve from your veranda and getting ocean views as well. The best thing is when making a reservation, is to ask for the best ocean views.
My second trip was just two of us, it was wonderful to have that amount of space as my partner is a singer and Im always making a noise in the kitchen experimenting.
The facilities are limited to a pool and jazuzzi, both outdoor, both unheated. Winter would be limited to sightseeing and not swimming.
The beach is flagged with a very lovely surf lifesaving club overlooking the gorge that is simply stunning.
A short stroll allows you to take a most magnificent walk along the boardwalk to see the gorge and Point Lookout. Incredibly breathtaking. There are many other beaches within short driving distance.
A convenience store is very well stocked if you need last minute items, a bit on the expensive side, so best to bring your supplies for the self contained apartment. There are a couple of little Resort style Boutiques which I have found some amazing pieces of jewellery, art and fashion.
And the highlight...the wild kangaroos that come to feed just before sunset on the headland. A beautiful sight indeed.
Management and staff of the resort are friendly, accommodating and make the stay very pleasant.
Highly recommended especially if you're a group of people and for families with children.
I will be going back there again next year.

Just spent 2 nights here and we enjoyed our stay. We had an ocean front apartment and the view was amazing! The weather really turned it on for a wonderful stay! The apartment was very large and spacious. The shower was fantastic, best i have experienced at any accommodation we have stayed at. The bed was just devine! very comfy! Very quite complex only sound is the sea rolling in and out.
