Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Clean and comfortable but no air-con. Genuinely beachfront but views obscured. Building a bit dated. No oven, cook top only, no bath, no lift. Not the place for couples or anyone else wanting quiet. Family friendly = screaming kids. Smallish pool, unheated, has a BBQ. Beautiful island and beaches. More happening at Pt Lookout than Amity.

Enjoyed our stay in a 3 bed unit with ocean views and whale watching from the balcony. Great location with boardwalk beach access. Very clean pool and bbq area. Approximately 30 min walk to cafes and gorge walk.

Comfortable - especially the beds. You hear the ocean all night and day, because all balconies have views. Less than 100 steps boardwalk and you are on the beach. Not into salted stuff? There is a pool and a sauna. Owners are so friendly it is hard to leave :-). Parking on premises. Full kitchen. CLEAN. Relatively quiet. Bus stop below, petrol station next door. Shops just up the hill. I mean, what else do you want?? This was my second trip in two months, and I am definitely going back.

We have stayed at the Anchorage On Straddie twice and both times it was great, the rooms are clean and spacious both times we had a balcony so I assume all rooms have one. The resort has it's own private walk way to the beach which is divine it has all the amenities you need, and the price is very reasonable. The owners are open and easy going. Overall we love it here and will stay again and again!

I recently spent 4 nights here and the location is very good. 50m to the beach and the top floor has sea veiws, but there is no lift so get ready for stairs. How ever you can not see the whales here for that you must go 4k up the road to Point look out. The place is very basic and old but is very clean and our room had a new bed. Ideal if you just want a base but if you want luxury go elsewhere. There is a hotel is about a 15 min walk up the beach and has great food A good stay but if i was going again i would stay in the hotel for the extra comfort

7 night stay in a one bedroom unit, first floor overlooking the pool with view to the ocean through the trees. Clean well furnished unit with full kitchen plus dishwasher. Ceiling fans in bedroom and living areas. Good size balcony with table and chairs and a lounger.Security screens, so able to leave sliding doors open day and night and hear the sound of the ocean. Pool and barbecue facilities excellent, well maintained and clean. Short walk to the beach via boardwalk so convenient. Walked up to the Bowls Club most nights for dinner, affordable tasty meals. Managers friendly very nice people. Would recommend to friends. There was no airconditioning in unit but we did not need it. Weather was warm approximately 27 degrees most days.

My husband and I decided to go to stradbroke island for a chilled getaway and have to say this was the best place on the island to stay in my humble opinion. Right on the beach, great value for money, and the manager was very friendly, giving you the locals knowledge for great places to visit and trails to follow for beach walking. Even asked for the best place to dine for our 1 year anniversary ( the whales way is a gorgeous place to go for great food and what a view - just while I'm giving good reviews). Sad to leave, but alas reality beckons back on the main land. Tempting to be back for another island getaway soon :)

My wife and I stayed for a weekend. Manager Damian contacted us two days before our stay to see if he could be of further help for our stay. Very pleasant and really knowledgeable of Straddie. I would highly recommend Anchorage Resort. Right on the beach. Great!

If you are after luxury, Anchorage is not for you. If you are a beach lover and want value for money, then Anchorage is for you. Anchorage would be one of the oldest resorts on the island but just a short boardwalk and you are on a pristine beach. At the resort you have Baz's Beach Bar and Grill (though it wasn't open when we went to check it out), and I can always find something at Noreen's Seaside Giftshop. There is a hairdresser there as well. It's only a short walk to the Bowls Club and the bus servicing the water taxi stops directly out the front. You are only 2 minutes from the Straddie Hotel and Cylinder Beach, which is a patrolled beach. The rooms are a little dated but have been spotlessly clean on arrival. They have everything you need.Cooking facilities are quite good

Beautiful beachfront location with direct beach access via boardwalk from units. Units are 3 levels, there is no lift so be mindful of the stairs. Pool has been revamped, extremely clean and well looked after. Units are clean, airy and have plenty of cutlery, plates etc. Good size fridge. BBQ area as well. Managers on site and extremely helpful and accommodating, walking distance to bowls club & Tillers. Definately be staying there again next year.
