Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The accommodation here is no frills and a bit dated ,but the rooms are clean and the balcony is spacious enough for 2 adults. Our balcony had one comfy seat so we fetched any from bbq area. Reception were very friendly and helpful. Walking distance from the gorge walk if you are reasonably fit but bus stops right outside. Not a huge choice for eating within walking distance but we enjoyed a dinner at the bowls club which gives a bright and friendly welcome. All in all a perfect stay for a couple of nights but lacks the comforts for much longer

Enjoyed a relaxing three night stay. Unit had everything we needed. Clean and comfortable. Location is fantastic with Cylinder beach on the doorstep. Staff very helpful and friendly. Appreciated the call from them on our arrival day to say that they were expecting us and the unit was ready for us earlier.

We stayed on the island for four days and the room was perfect. I was a little concerned about climbing the stairs but it wasn't an issue. The rooms and clean and well stocked with everything you need. I was also concerned about not having an air conditioner but I am glad there's not one. The noise would be annoying and the weather is mild enough not to need one. Owners were great with some advice and even helped out sorting out the car after some beach driving. It's not in town which is what I liked. We were able to quickly drive or walk to anywhere we wanted. Great spot.

Booked 5 nights stay at the anchorage , cannot fault it any way , managers very helpful and friendly, appartement was basic but clean , bus stop at the front door to go to point look out or the other way to back to the ferry ! Really comfortable, no lift but only 3 floors ! Best beach walks , gorge walk is a must ! Food is sort of ok ! Not much to choose from , but if you come with you 4 wheel drive , stock up in Cleveland !!! There are so many nice places to visit Great stay ! I’ll would recommend it !

Well located - only a short walk through bush to the main beach then you turn right and walk for 10 more minutes to the fabulous cylinder beach. The hotel is getting old and worn but it is kept clean and tidy and the hotel manager is a great guy. Knowledgeable, hard working and really helpful.

I had a four night stay at the Anchorage staying in a studio apartment. The room was good with a kitchenette and two seater lounge. The room opens up to a large balcony overlooking the pool. The view extends out to the beach. It really is a pleasant setting. The room is not air conditioned but does have a ceiling fan. The sea breeze kept the room cool and the sound of the ocean was very appealing. The bed was really comfortable. 5gb WiFi is included. The managers are friendly and I happily recommend the Anchorage on Straddie.

Two minute walk and you are looking at the Coral Sea. The Beach was empty as it was September - we were the only 2 people. It was warm enough to swim however the water was cool. Restaurant and pool onsite. We chose not to eat at the restaurant, not a lot of choices on the menu. The room was simple yet spacious. Free wifi on offer but for some reason the battery charge on our phones decreased at 10% every time we so much as turned them on. Damian checked us in and gave us a lot of information - lovely guy and easy to deal with. Close to Pt Lookout - you could bus. No lift but there’s only 3 floors. Will definitely return. These are our own photos, that’s how good the view is. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We enjoyed this condo, but it was quite a haul for several ladies age 50-70! The layout was nice, but didn't fulfill the description as far as actual beds for 5 people. The condo was very clean and the staff in the office was extremely helpful in suggesting what we could do and not do!

We went for a 7 night getaway and really had a great time. It felt like 3 weeks, great apartment and amazing location. Super close to the beach and 3km from Point Lookout which we walked to a number of times. There are quite a bit to do for kids too and restaurants within arms length. You will love it. There is a pool however I did not use it as the weather was superb and the ocean conditions the best we could wish for. Mantra diving is close by if that is something you’d like to do and a convenience store only a couple of minutes walk. Foodworks is 2km away if you need something more, everything at your fingertips, you can park and never use the car again for the remainder of your stay.
