This is hotel is better described as a bar with a few rooms overthe top. We booked their best room for 4 nights, we were aware that it was over the top of the bar and the noise didn't bother us - however, the balcony was unuseable as smoke billowed up from the bar and it wasnt possible to open the windows for the same reason. The hotel does not serve breakfast, which I find amazing. You can but a beer at 10:00am but no food until 11:30am. Food in the restaurant was good and the staff generally friendly.

There are signs everywhere telling you what not to do, and what you will be charged if you damage something, including an instruction in the bedroom not to drop the temperature in the room below 22 degrees.

Went to use the pool once but it wasnt clean and thought better of it.

The location of the property is stunning and potential is fantastic but it needs a thorough update and review of management practices. The newly appointed bar / restaurant supervisor was good, but there was no sign of a General Manager.

When asked, I provided feedback to management but there is no attempt to follow up. They charged a security deposit of $150 and only refunded this, after being chased a week after we checked out, despite saying that it would be credited as soon as the housekeeping team had checked the room.

The food was subpar but the price is through the roof. I had the smallest serving of fish for 36$, I was so shocked I asked the waitress and when she double checked with the chefs they were incredibly rude to her and myself. Wouldn’t both eating here again and certainly wouldn’t consider staying.

I love fish and chips and you would expect that the fish in a meal at the Straddie Pub would be locally caught but no. When I asked I was told that the fish was Tasmanian shark??
Why would a pub on an island in Moreton Bay surrounded by ocean teaming with fish and trawlers that go out every night not sell local fish?
Businesses like the pub need to support local small businesses like the fisherman and sell local produce.
Instead of fish and chips I had pasta with prawns and scallops which was disappointing.
The scallops were over cooked and the prawns were very average.

We stayed on 19th&20th June to celebrate our 58th Wedding Anniversary,to start with our welcome at reception was wonderful and when we checked in to our room it was a delight to find on the bed a welcome message and a towel sculpture in the shape of two swans facing each other to form a heart, what a lovely touch, we found out later it was the young girl at reception who made it, so talented. The room was superb, very clean and well appointed. We had all our meals in the Bistro both days and the service was excellent. A big shout out to all of your staff they are a credit to the Hotel

Terrible, forgettable and unfortunate experience.

Took some family from Western Australia for lunch on Sunday 9th June 2024.

Booked well in advance for a 1:30pm lunch. Bistro was quiet with only a few tables seated upon arrival.

We quickly perused the menu and Ordered our meals and waited over 40 minutes for some pork belly specials x 2. Two x salads, (Caesar and Thai beef) some fries , 10 oysters, and a kids nuggets and chips.

What a complete waste of time and money.
Pork belly and Brussel sprouts had VERY clearly been deep fried to within an inch of their life. Dry Mash that tasted like a powdered product. And only a few tablespoons of sauce.

I took mine back after a few bites as it was dry and impossible to chew. Asked for a refund. However this request was refused. Terrible customer service from the male manager on duty, Hospitality was NOT his strong suit!

Caesar salad was dry and barely dressed.
Kids chicken nuggets were seriously overcooked and resembled very dark brown tree bark.

The Thai beef salad were easily 75% of the salad was coriander that was poorly washed and full of grit. ( Yes a TBS has coriander, however not that much!!)

Overall paid over $150 + for food that was some of the worst I have experienced. In a world where eating out is a luxury. This experience left us all underwhelmed and very disappointed.

Never. Ever again and borderline shameful.
Don’t waste your time or your hard earned money.

We didn’t stay at the hotel but had lunch twice here over a very busy long weekend. We were delighted with the food and the fantastic service we received.

Agree that the food pricing is at the higher end of the scale, however the portion sizes were huge and we felt that the prices were justified in this case. Our food was tasty and fresh, and considering how busy the place was, the food came out in a timely manner. Out of our large group of 12 (ish) there were no complaints.

I have to say that the service was outstanding. The whole team were friendly, polite, professional and efficient - there was a chap supervising (and mucking in) and he did an amazing job of keeping everything running smoothly.

We will definitely come here again for lunch next time we’re in Straddie - great food/service and an amazing location.

When you book lunch at the hotel you get an email reminding you of how busy they are. The mail says : "The seating period is 2 hours from the time of your reservation, not from the time which you arrive. Please keep in mind your table will only be held for 15 minutes after your reservation time"

So you accept the terms, turn up on time with two kids and two grandparents over 80 and the manager says: "there is a two hour waiting period for food". They hope it might be as little as 1.5 hours. So that will give you 30 minutes to wolf it down.

You ask if the waiting time can be reduced by ordering easy fried food (starters, calamaris, wedges, chips etc). They say "yes". So you pay up front (before receiving food) and after an hour you ask for an estimate of time remaining. They say it will be another 40 minutes. So we requested a refund and we left. The restaurant was, by then, half empty.

I do not understand how a restaurant is unable to deliver fried starters in less than 1.5 hours. This is not table service - you place your order, pay, pick up a buzzer and then collect your order from the counter.

Try the "Little Ship" in Dunwich (often good), or the Surf Club at Point Look Out (cheap, cheerful and in a good cause). Or Amity Point. Or the Bowls Club. Or take a picnic. But do not reward the Stradbroke hotel for such poor restaurant management.

The room sits above the noisy and smelly pub. The room toilet didn't work because it took 30 mins to refill the cistern. The $20 cereal breakfast offering was so appalling I doubt anyone goes for it. But, worst of all, the underground carpark hosts hundreds of tiny birds that sit on the copper piping and poo all over your car!!! There is no warning and management literally does not give a poo. Not coming back..

We have just had the worst meal $25 plate of nachos basically just layers of corn chips and barely any topping ….after speaking to manager reordered just a plate of wedges a safe bet 30 mins later I asked for a refund as wedges hadn’t come… miraculously arrived 2 mins later obviously been sitting for a while. Was not offered a refund on difference in price … been coming to Straddie for over 40 years and certainly wouldn’t come back here …

There are no facilities like this in the hotel accommodation, but in the apartments they have a full kitchen. Not sure exactly how much Wifi access is, but from memory it was quite expensive.

Hi Frances, Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry you had a less than satisfactory experience whilst celebrating your husbands 70th birthday. I have passed your feedback on to our head chef and general manager so that we can ensure this is looked into and rectified. Please know that our chefs usually take a lot of pride in the food they make and therefore were also disappointed that your meals were not up to standard for you. I hope if you are ever on the island again you give us another chance to show off more than our great view.
